Chapter 1

All it took was seeing him, the man who was piled underneath dead bodies, it should have looked weird to find only one person who survived this bloody massacre of people's hearts being taken and then crushed into ashes. However, what is more troublesome for her, for Emma Swan was to be redirected into the man's eyes. She could a feel a pull towards him, the part of her suspiciousness about him as she takes in his appearance when he stands with some help. She cannot help to stare at him. It feels like she wants to go towards him and kiss him. An extraordinarily strong urge as she fights this incredible pull.

However, there was one thing she cannot figure out. He seems to recognize her, only her as she saw him gasp. It was like he knows her, who looks at her with such relief and love, it was the love that made her to fight this strong urge. His cerulean blue eyes looking at her with eyes were full of light. She tries not to think about it, but she cannot help of ever seeing that. Seeing someone love her with those eyes. It was a strange feeling. But how can someone like her love her when she does not even know the reason why. When she does not even know him.

When she sits down at the table as Aurora gets him water, she, Mary Margaret, and Mulan wait patiently. Once the man took a sip of water, he tells an incredible tale of seeing what the witch was doing, taking everyone's hearts out and crushing them like it was nothing. Saying that he knew he had to escape, so he crawled to bodies that were already dead to save himself. Emma got to hand it to him of how well he portrayed himself, but she was not fooled. So, she stood up, grabbed him, and pushed him towards the tree as she ties him with help from Mulan who quickly realized something was indeed wrong. Once he was tried, Emma asked again to tell the truth, at first, he denied, so she got closer and puts a knife towards his neck as she repeats once more while adding in the incentive that the ogres will find him and eat him.

Then all suddenly her thoughts floundered around her, with words of you want to kill this dashing rapscallion. Dashing rapscallion? Where did that come? She knows he is handsome, okay screw handsome; he is hot. Then there is that face, that says, oh you do not want to kill me love. A voice that was his in her head. What the hell? She just met the guy, and his voice is in her head, whoever he was. Then that voice of his is back in her head coming back, saying I am important to you love. You do not want to kill me. She keeps her face stoic and neutral.

He laughs. Then says that she bested him and then reveals his identity as Killian Jones though he is best known as his moniker Captain Hook. When she hears his name, his real name, the voice comes back however it was not only the voice that came back, but she also gets an image where her young drenched self-met him for the first time. She ignores it and keeps her face stoic. As she hears the rest of his conversation of how he is working for Cora to get to the Storybrooke. She then asks why is he going there for?

He then simply says he wants to get revenge on Rumpelstiltskin for taking his hand away. He says however Emma saw the lie. She cuts him free leaving the lie alone until she is alone with him and to discover the real reason as Hook then leads them to a giant beanstalk to get a magic compass that will help them ensure them to get back home to Storybrooke.

On the way to the beanstalk, Emma could not help but to try and ignore Mary Margaret's glances between her and the infamous Captain Hook. Emma could only shrug it off like it was nothing. However, Emma herself and Mary Margaret, both knew it was not nothing. There was something there beneath its surface.

Emma is trying to resist.

Trying to resist Mary Margaret's need to talk.

Trying to resist Captain Hook and the incredible urge to kiss him.

She tells herself choose one that she can deal with now. As long she is not next to the presence of Killian Jones, she believes she will be fine. They stop at a hill and suddenly he tells the group that is where they are going. Towards the beanstalk. She takes a breath and makes a choice.

"Yes Mary Margaret," she says.

"Emma what is going on between you and Hook?"

"There is nothing going on between me and Hook." She then furrows her eyes. What made you think that there's something going on between us?"

"Well Hook looks like he's in love with you. You know the way David looks at me," she asks Emma and seeing her daughter nod, "well that's how Hook is looking at you."

Hearing that from Mary Margaret she could not help but be turned on a little bit and for a moment to go run to him and kiss him. She wants the resistance of the urge to end right here and now. However, she is not ready yet and tries to avoid him the blush that has formed and ended as quickly as possible. She knows Mary Margaret saw her blush. And she also knows resisting him just became harder.

She goes back to her original plan and try to avoid him. Try to avoid getting too close for him or else she might lose it. Right now, she prays that she will overcome this urge. Well, she hopes.

A few hours later she was put to the test of resisting him as she is climbing the beanstalk with him. Unfortunately, with him as her partner to get the compass she feels challenged that she set upon herself. Right now, as they are no longer towards the ground where Mary Margaret, Aurora, and Mulan were at, Captain Hook starts to talk.

"Who broke you, love?" he asks.

Emma stops at the position that she is at, startled. She left a breath that she could not control at the sudden shock of the sudden question that Captain Hook said. There was only one thing on her mind, how did he know that. "What?" she says still shellshocked.

"Who broke you, Swan?" he said again though more softly.

"What makes you think I'm broken?" Emma scoffs while hiding her pain, her vulnerability as they continue climbing.

"I can see your barriers, love. Those high barriers that blocks out away all the pain. It may make you strong but love, it takes away you open up to those who want to get close to you."

"And how do you know this?" she snarled.

"Well, darling you are an open book to me." He says and then suddenly those words were repeated deep to the recesses of her mind, as if she had heard those words before. It was like déjà vu. She had never experienced one before but now that idea lingers and fingered it would be this. Well at least that's what she thinks.

"Am I?" she spoke, her anger pushed aside into amusement into seconds. Oh god, is she flirting with him. Seriously what is with this man? Then suddenly she furrows her eyes as she climbs, as she pondered the feelings that came out of nowhere. Seriously how did she go from being annoyed which turned to anger then amusement and now curiosity. She couldn't help to think but wonder about these feelings that she's currently feeling.

"Yes, you still are love." He grinned however Emma's eyes furrowed again.

"Still?" she questioned.

He realizes his mistake and tries to come up a way of what to do. He should've known his wife is good at these things, casually talking to find someone slip up when she finds the information that they wanted. Bloody hell he curses silently. "I know you love, a long time ago."

"Yeah, you keep on dreaming buddy. Besides I'm pretty sure I would remember if I have met you."

"You sure about that?"

"Yes."

"Would that be because I'm a dashing rapscallion?" he grins again.

"No, it would be because you're the most infuriating man that I've ever met." She says with a smile playing on her lips, finding the conversation amusing.

"Infuriating?" he chuckles. "Usually, you would call me as your dashing rapscallion."

"Really?"

"Really Swan you do," he says, "you know I can still see the Emma that I met is in there."

"How would you know?" she started questioning as she grins, "that if you know me. Then you would talk about how we met; don't you think?"

"That sounds like a challenge, love. Is that what you're asking?"

"Guess I am."

"When I first met you which was a few centuries ago I was a different person I was then I am now. I was a lieutenant in the Navy. On the way back to the kingdom after finishing a mission for the king we've encountered a magical storm, it at first looked like it was a maelstrom however this was smaller and only last ten minutes. Once the storm past something was telling me to look for something or rather someone who was drowning at the same spot where that tiny maelstrom was. It was you love, after bringing you on deck you coughed some sea water and laid down on the deck, I gave you time to yourself, and when you recollected yourself that's when I introduced myself to you."

"I didn't expect that." She says lowly as the picture that she saw hours earlier appeared once again, confirming that it was true. Her true first encounter when she met him was when she was drenched. However, that wasn't the only thing she'd expected, it was the answer, the long answer he gave. It seemed he remembered everything is what she found herself to be amazed at.

"What didn't you expect?" he was confused.

"That you remembered." She stated.

"Of course, I would remember that day, love. For twas the day I met you. The young women who would change my life and have my heart." He pauses as he climbs more steadily at a slower pace for a little bit, leaving the silence for a few moments. When he feels that he and Emma are both at ease as some time crossed by, he repeats his earlier question. "Who broke you?" he said casually, knowing this time she will answer.

She sighs evidently as the words come spilling out. "When I was seventeen years old after escaping the system. I met a man named Neal when I was stealing a car when he startled me when I was driving. Apparently, he already stolen the car. He was about ten years older than me, he taught me to how to survive basically, we became thieves we were like Bonny and Clyde. Soon after I met him, not only did I trust him I also fell in love with him." She hitches her breath as the story was getting harder to tell. "One day a little after a month after I met him, we found a wanted sign with his face, and he revealed to me that he stolen watches from a jewelry store he used to work at. He told me about them, and I decided to help him to get them back. He told where it was and when I got the watches we met up, showed him the watches, gave me one and put it on me. Then he left with the watches to pawn them off and we were supposed to meet again at a different location however instead of him returning the police showed up." She takes one hard breath as the story unfolds with her rapidly beating heart as the heartbreak comes shattering with the pain that was brought from reliving the story. "Since I was wearing one of the stolen watches, they arrested me, and I was in jail for eleven months. A few weeks later in jail I'd found out I was pregnant. When I gave birth to my son, I gave my him up and let him be adopted to give him a better life."

As Killian hears the story, he couldn't help but be angry at this Neal. However, that wasn't the shocking thing he'd learned. It was the end of the story that caught in a daze. She gave birth a son. Was that son his, he pondered his head thinking if it was possible. A minute later he figured that it was possible, she could've been pregnant but didn't know about it. Seeing that was probably the most likely factor. He knows Emma would've told him if she'd known.

After this revelation they silently made their way to the top of the beanstalk.
