After Elsa helped Emma get control of her magic, Ingrid then casts the Spell of Shattered Sight onto the town of Storybrooke and later during the day, while the purple cloud continues its way to cover all of the town, Gold meets with Ingrid somewhere in the woods. Gold approaches Ingrid, telling her, "I have an eye for a loophole, and I think I've spotted yours. My wife and grandson will be destroyed by this spell, so I want you to allow them to leave with me. You spare the two of them, I spare you misery. Do we have a deal?"
Ingrid agrees on the deal, but Gold reveals he has another one.
"I want your banshee, whether you win or not. I want that banshee of yours," Ingrid asks why and Gold tells her that he knows that once she has both Elsa and Emma, she will have the family she desires and will no longer need the Banshee's assistance, and he plans to use the Banshee for a much greater purpose than what Ingrid is using her. She sighs and agrees to this deal and asks what he needs in exchange for this to happen. He pulls out a clear glass vial with a cork, opening it and shows it to Ingrid.
"Just put some of your magic in this and I'll be on my merry way," He says, Ingrid knows why he needs it since if she were to lose, everything she created in town would be gone, and Gold needs her magic to keep the Banshee alive. Without a word, she fills up the vial until 90% of it was filled. Satisfied, Gold closes the vial with the cork and walks away with Ingrid saying "Enjoy your trip," as he leaves.
At the clock tower, the group watched nervously as a dark cloud moved closer to their town. Elsa's stomach dropped—Belle had been right all along. Her aunt was behind it. Mary Margaret's voice broke through the tension: "That's the Spell of Shattered Sight." David stepped up with a plan. "We could hide in the mines or the vault," he suggested. Regina crossed her arms, shaking her head. "Magic doesn't care about ceilings. It's already started."
"How long do we have?" Hook asked.
"By sundown," Regina replied grimly. "By then, everyone in town will start… tearing each other apart." Emma wasn't about to let that happen. "Alright, the answer's simple, let's just not be here when it hits."
The group rushed to the ice wall at the town line, hoping to find a way out. Regina muttered something about it being a sloppy solution, but Emma shot back, "Brute force works if it gets the job done." Leroy pointed out they could climb over it, maybe build something to help others escape. David tried climbing the wall but was knocked back by some magical defense. Emma helped him up as Mary Margaret hovered nearby, helping him.
"That thing's not playing around," Regina said, shaking her head. Emma snapped into action. "Okay, enough wasting time. Mom, Dad, Leroy, spread the word. People need to separate from their loved ones before this spell hits, or it'll be chaos. Killian, check the waterfront, maybe we can get some boats out."
Regina chimed in, saying she needed to warn Robin Hood since his camp was close. Emma nodded, agreeing to head to Gold's shop for ideas, taking Elsa with her. She turned to Henry, but Regina quickly stepped argued that Emma was part of the Snow Queen's plan and wanted Henry near her as long as it was safe. Henry reassured everyone that he would be fine with Regina. Emma reminded him to be careful, but Regina urged them to hurry, insisting that it needed to happen right away.
At Gold's shop, Belle are helping Emma and Elsa learn about the curse and how exactly can they stop it, Elsa asked Belle if she had any luck. Belle replied that there was no progress and noted that it seemed to be pretty much unstoppable, "When someone has been affected by the spell, they can be used to reverse it. By taking a strand of their hair or their blood, it can create a counterspell-similar, like a vaccine, which can neutralize its effects."
Emma and Elsa look at each other, remembering the pages and how Elsa was trapped in the urn, "Anna... she can help this town and everyone in it," Belle points that with the condition her sister is in now, they cannot get anything from her unless they have a plan to get rid of the Banshee and bring back Anna. However, Elsa reveals to the two that they have a plan and shares what Pabbie did and what he found inside Anna's head, but Belle and Emma wonder if it could work. Belle says she will gather the fairies. They can set up nearby and work on the counter spell together if her plan works.
"It could work, it has to. I'm saving her and she can save this town. I know it."
The two go to the clinic where Pabbie and Kristoff are, and Kristoff asks if Elsa is ready to start her plan. Pabbie then explains the plan to them. First, Elsa has to knock out the Banshee, next, they will take her to a room where Pabbie and Elsa can travel into her mind to trap the Banshee inside before they are able to get Anna out and bring her back, allowing her to be in control. They go to the room where the Banshee was in, they look inside and see it thrashing the room, continuing its search for an escape. Pabbie looks at Elsa, asking if she's ready and she nods. Pabbie opened the door, and the Banshee made a break for it, but Elsa was quicker. A burst of frost struck the creature, forcing it back. With a powerful blast, Elsa sent it crashing into the wall, knocking it unconscious.
Kristoff carefully picked up the limp Banshee and carried it to a special room in the clinic. The walls were covered in rich purple wallpaper, and three clinic beds were lined up at the far end. A plush couch sat along one side of the room (1). Overhead, a surgical light hung from the ceiling. Instead of a bulb, a glowing purple stone rested in the center.
Kristoff laid the Banshee on the middle bed, and Pabbie gestured for Elsa to lie down on the one next to it. He took the remaining bed for himself.
Emma, still unsure, turned to Kristoff. "So… how exactly is this going to work?"
Kristoff pointed up at the glowing surgical light. "You see that purple stone in the light?" he said. "When I flip the switch, it will beam down rock troll memory magic onto the Banshee's head. At the same time, it'll connect to whoever is lying in the other beds. That's how Pabbie and Elsa will get pulled into her mind. Once they're in there, they need to lock up the Banshee because she's the one controlling Anna. Luckily, they are able to use their magic to stop it. Then, with that creature out of the way, they just need find Anna and free her from wherever Ingrid trapped her. Then, once they tell us they found her, I'll flip the switch again, turning the light off, pulling everyone back out."
Emma's eyes widened with the new knowledge, but she nodded. "Got it. Just… be careful."
Elsa took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was ahead. "Let's do this," she said. She and Pabbie laid down on the beds and Pabbie told Kristoff to turn on the switch. Once he did, a beam of purple light goes down and shoots at the Banshee's head, which then connects to the other beds, connecting Elsa and Pabbie, bringing them into the Banshee's mind. The inside was like stepping into a frozen wonderland as everything from the ground to the sky was covered in ice. It looked stunning, but something felt off. Pabbie frowned as he scanned the eerie silence. The Banshee, who was supposed to be controlling this icy realm, was nowhere to be found.
"It's too quiet," Pabbie muttered uneasily.
Elsa glanced around but stayed calm. "If the Banshee's knocked out in the real world, maybe it's unconscious here too," she reasoned. "That could make finding Anna easier. But where exactly do we find her here?"
"The places where everyone takes what they want in order to be forgotten is usually in the darkest places." He turns to the left where it is the darkest. They walk to the direction of the shadows and continue walking as they were now in the shadow territory of the mind. They stopped once they see the back of a structure in their path and Pabbie says that this structure is the chair. Elsa walks over to face the front of the chair, revealing an almost frozen Anna, with her entire body and up to her neck were covered in ice tendrils that were directed from the chair. Her eyes were pure icy blue, looking straight, but her hair remained the same (2). Elsa wonders how they were going to get Anna out of there, but before Pabbie could answer, they were shot at by icicles from afar.
They looked back to see the Ice Banshee with tentacles of ice shooting ice shards at them, trying to stop them from getting Anna (3). "We need to trap her," Pabbie said, his voice steady despite the chaos. "I can create a prison, but I'll need time. Elsa, you'll have to keep her distracted."
Elsa nodded, determination lighting up her eyes. She stepped out of the protective dome and summoned a wave of frost, sending it racing toward the Banshee. The creature roared, its tentacles of ice lashing out to counter Elsa's attack. The clash of icy forces sent shards flying in all directions, turning the frozen wonderland into a storm of frost and light. Pabbie closed his eyes and focused. He placed his hands on the icy ground towards a wall and a circular pattern of purple was etched on the wall, creating a door and a room big enough for the Banshee. "Lead her here!" Pabbie called out.
Hearing him, Elsa channeled her magic into a massive ice spike and hurled it toward the Banshee. The creature dodged, its movements wild and erratic, but Elsa kept pressing. She conjured a path of icy platforms and sprinted across them, drawing the Banshee's attention as it chased her. With a final burst of energy, Elsa landed in front of the door and turned to face the creature. "Come and get me," she challenged, her hands glowing with frost. The Banshee lunged, but just as it crossed the threshold of the door, Pabbie clapped his hands together. The door closed, enclosing the Banshee its prison. It screeched and thrashed, its icy tentacles slamming against the walls, but the cage held firm.
"It's done," Pabbie said, his voice tinged with relief. "Now, let's free Anna." Elsa turned back to the frozen chair where Anna was trapped. The ice tendrils coiled tightly around her sister's body, their jagged edges shimmering menacingly. Elsa's heart ached at the sight, but she pushed the feeling aside and focused on the task at hand. Pabbie joined her, examining the tendrils. "They're connected to the Snow Queen's magic," he explained.
"If you can disrupt the flow of magic, it should free Anna. Use your ice to break the connection." Elsa nodded and summoned a long, sharp spike of ice. She positioned it at the base of the largest tendril and drove it in with a determined thrust. The tendril shattered, and a ripple of blue light spread across the others. One by one, the icy bindings began to crack and dissolve. Anna's body slackened as the last of the ice disappeared. Her eyes, once glowing an unnatural blue, softened back to their warm, familiar hue. But she was weak, barely able to move. Elsa caught her before she could collapse, holding her sister close. Anna blinked slowly, recognition dawning in her eyes. "Elsa..." she whispered, her voice was faint, but weak. Her eyes were almost about to close, but she was fighting it as she looked at her sister.
"Hey, I got you. Don't worry, we're getting you out of here."
"She is too weak, her mind and body have been under Ingrid's control for too long. Let's help her." Pabbie says as they helped Anna up to her feet and they walked back to where they started.
"You do realize this door will not keep her there forever?" They turn to see Ingrid standing next to the locked-up Banshee. "Sooner or later, the Banshee will return, take back control, and she will be back in that chair or someplace else this time. Someplace impossible to wake up from."
"Do not worry, she's not really here. She's not a danger to us here." Pabbie says as they proceed to walk past her as if she were a ghost and they walk back to where they started to leave the mindscape, but this Ingrid was still not done with them.
"Without the Banshee, she's just a weak princess. Tell me, Anna, my dear do you want to get hurt in this world all over again? Do you want to see everyone you ever loved die? Admit it; it was better when the other was in control You were better, and stronger, where no person or spell and curse could hurt you."
Elsa looks at Anna, who managed to open her eyes, but she didn't look at Ingrid, ignoring what she was saying, and she looked at Elsa, who knows what she wants, to be free from Ingrid, to be finally with Elsa and Kristoff. So, they proceeded to walk back. As they walked further, Elsa looked back to see Ingrid was gone and the Banshee angrily, banging on the locked door (4). They made their way to the purple light when Pabbie said, "We have her," This results in them in being engulfed in purple light and Elsa and Pabbie waking up back in the purple room where Kristoff and Emma were. Kristoff was at the switch, turning the memory light off. Elsa looked next to her to see the tendrils covering Anna was retreating and her hair was slowly turning back into a strawberry blonde color. Elsa asks Pabbie when she will wake up.
"Considering how weak she was inside, I believe she would improve in a couple hours. Now, she needs the rest she truly needs."
David called Emma to let her know the spell was moving way faster than they expected. Emma guessed the Snow Queen was speeding it up on purpose to stop them from creating a counterspell for the curse. David told her they needed to meet up at the sheriff's station with Elsa to figure out a new plan.
"We have to get back to the station," Emma said to Elsa. Elsa hesitated, not wanting to leave Anna behind. Kristoff reassured her, "Don't worry, I'll stay with her until she wakes up."
Emma reminded them that once they left, they'd be affected by the spell too. But Pabbie revealed some good news: the clinic was protected by rock troll magic. "No dark magic spells or curses can get through here," he said. "Anna will be safe and sound when you get back."
Emma and Elsa rushed to the sheriff's office, where they found Mary Margaret, David, and Neal waiting. Emma asked what their plan was, but Mary Margaret handed her the jail keys instead. "Lock us in separate cells," she said. "We can't risk hurting anyone—or each other—when Ingrid's curse hits." Emma didn't want to, but she knew it was the right thing. She locked her mom and dad in separate cells, taking her baby brother with her to keep him safe. Hook came in, wanting to see Emma one last time before he would be cursed by the Spell of Shattered Sight. Emma's heart sank as she kissed him goodbye, their emotions overwhelming. Then, Hook left to chain himself to the marina dock, hoping to protect everyone by keeping himself out of harm's way. The sky darkened with an eerie indigo storm rolling in fast. Inside the jail, Mary Margaret and David held hands through the cold iron bars. "Don't be scared," David said, his voice steady. "We share a heart. Nothing can break that, no spell, no curse." Mary Margaret nodded, holding onto his words for dear life.
But then it happened. The storm hit, and shards of glittering mirrors rained down like jagged glass. The spell took hold. Mary Margaret's and David's eyes turned icy, their gazes hardening. They let go of each other's hands, their love replaced by anger and distrust. Now, under the curse's power, they glared at each other like enemies, their shared heart overshadowed by the Spell of Shattered Sight.
Meanwhile, at the clinic, Pabbie and Kristoff watch as the Spell of Shattered Sight washes the town with its curse and then, inside the purple room, Anna's eyes open, her eyes glowing icy blue for one second and then turning into her regular blue eyes.
