ep35 (w15 ep1) A Photo No More (Word count 924)

yeah, finally the brother enters. that took a while, probably because I got so nervous about making this perfect I just made a bunch of busywork chapters instead to avoid it. I cannot believe this somehow became almost 1000 words, though considering this is probably one of the biggest episode of this story it makes sense. (Even without an outline telling me every big event, which is in line with a soap opera story. this introduces a concept on top of a character, though I well not say how here.) anyway let it rip.

The brother came in. his face was serious he did not look like he was there to feel the joys of Easter. but To evaluate how everything is going. The mother was feeling slightly conflicted but definitely down and worried with his presence surprising them at this exact moment. The grand parents of course hug their son and asked how his adventures were going and he said good he got what he was looking for which brought another chair up ralphie's mother spine. ralphie himself was interested to meet his uncle that he only saw occasionally but mostly in photos. he had appointed head like in the Photos he saw but also was more serious than he looked instead of smile and happiness he remembers from the photos or even the memories he had of him The few times he met. because during those times he was always joyous, patting him on the head, fond to be around and ready to see him. (I am having trouble explaining this but I am trying to make it like a happy family member is to a little kid. sorry about breaking the fourth wall.)

as ralphie moves towards him to say hi he sees his uncle giving a glance at him that partially frightens Ralphie before saying now here is the boy I have looking looking for how are you doing here. The boy says good good everything is fine just did you have some of dinner mum cooked up some very great food. with the uncle saying back not yet but that can wait into after I look into some things. ed asks what happened before he came and they mentioned some things about the ship and the bus being near ralphie's location along with a few other stuff. this got the response 'figures' from the uncle, thinking how his Nephew already is involved with the unusual. Because of this along with the possibility of his heritage he decides to bring the flashlight out.

as he flashes a flashlight in Ralphie's eyes. A trick he does to see if he suspect anything since vampires (similarly to to people that do drinking and/or drugs) take longer due to the adjusting night vision. he sees it mostly the same speed, if it is possibly a little slow or not, that is beyond his recognition. though during that test he saw some thing else that made the situation, 'more complicated' , The brother ed said it does not seem that those cursed abilities came in yet at least completely but you could have told me he is a calculus.

The mother started 'saying uuu i did not think.' The mother realising as she was talking how she barely thought of the possibility (considering his grades). with Ralphie saying interrupting Midsentence what is a calculus. The uncle saying you know a computer. with the kids saying you mean i am a robot, no not that type of computer gee-ssh you didn't teach him anything did you, looking at the mum.

The mom saying I do not think I would have to at this age. knowing that it was not a acceptable excuse and she was taught the things of the unusual way before his age.

The uncle is talking to the grandparents about what to do with the situation at hand. The two of grandparents do, you know, not want to stay there long term (at least for right away) and he was considering staying just in case any vampire relatives came about. (not to mention the other strangeness that comes about here) but the idea of mentoring him a possible vampire even with non-vampire abilities like a calculus is just not sane his eyes. but he consider it as a opportunity to watch him slightly closer. Definitely considering how hard it is to See his sister with the conflict they have. they were always competitive but after the way her last husband was injured (ended) she would prefer never to see his face again outside of a photo of what was before she left the family.

(A little bit about a feud in the background)

but now there is an opportunity to see that his Nephew is not a vampire along with finding out information about the mysteries that happens since that time.

as he left his train of thought ed sees that his sister (Ralphie's mom) is being asked about the abilities from their parents. Ralphie's mom has less of a clue of the fact her sons possessed in such talent then he expected her to have.

she was even saying that she has seen no signs of him excelling exponentially in any math, at all. with her trying to make clear that she has ideas for subjects he likes in school but she has not nit pick out his whole life trying to dodge there questions and answer, already mentioning his lack of good grades in math. with the grandparents responding you know what I mean, talking more about the 'analyzing talent' than the grades.

The uncle has a feeling this is going to be a weird occurrence if he is both a calculus and a vampire though he will deal with that line when it is dealt.

The uncle said I can supervisor the situation to see how it progresses but if I spot something else that's special I will take care of it. A statement that sent chills down Ralphie spine. and will change the course of the town and the people in it.

there are a few ways this could of went even a bait and switch was considered (even a crossover (in a more of a borrow a character way)) but I really do not want to have my story end up in the dreaded 'crossover section' because honestly how many people just randomly browse the crossover section on a regular basis (I know I probably look at that section maybe once or twice Per fandom, even fandoms I have been viewing for many years). it is a decent organising method but it is no way to get a lot of traffic on your story. (because what use is publishing a story that no one is ever going to find even if they want to.)

I was really lost on how to incorporate this scene, really worried about the quality. worried that I would end up making this go so flat that I might as well give up now. but when I finally got around to seeing a few of the 'ride again' episodes, in this case particularly the circus one, that is where everything came together. luckily after seeing that apparently action man 2000 style calculating powers are now Canon I found something that could be of interest to all the partys giving me some time to work on the Vampire portions if I even go that route, so I cooperated accordingly.

The eyeball think is definitely from Full Metal Panic. (really the eyeball dilation thing was already in there for a vampire checking but it is how I connected the dots) I am only mentioning that because it is on the more wacky side.

in terms of the flashlight scenario, I remember hearing that sometimes when you drink you adjust to lights slower and I thought that would be an interesting way to adjust for vampire night sight. (it was also a story tool used in a unpublished Fanfiction in a different fandom.)

calculus is what I am going to call that action man style power in this thing. I know there is a branch of math called that but I decided just co-opted it anyway. this is going to be a mix of the action man 2000 Powers (which is based on 2 episodes, (now 3) I saw) and The whispers from Full Metal Panic.

a Computer (also known as a 'human computer') was someone who did calculations, it was a name of a real job though I am using it in the way of someone who has a innate talent to be one rather than soully the job title.
