ep38 (w16 ep2) Calculus Power Explained (Word count 914)

now to introduce the 'Calculus' concept, like I said this power was a later development watching a more recent episode. because of that the concepts introduced here might be a little looser than some ideas that were fleshed out for 10 to 12 weeks. I hope I do it justice though. no creative chapter name because it really needs to be obvious. (there are probably times I going to have to find it and i use the reading key as much as you do. since I occasionally remember what's going on but not the order of information if that makes any sense.

I also wrote this just like the last one (since they were the same chapter cut into 2) is based on the first draft of the uncle chapter (w15 ep1) to introduce the power idea not the final product.

I was between having them off for orthodox Easter or not but decided to do it (in terms of slightly miscellaneous knowledge the main school (as in not the one Janet's in) only get the two days after off). Janet's school gets the time between both Easters off as well. I hope that clarifies everything.

The next day Ralphie was thinking since he is out of school until Wednesday. his mind wandered on a word, calculus that is why he called him. why did that stuck. he is kind of excited at the prospect of having powers, what kid would not but the idea of that creep watch him. The one who he mostly saw just photos with a few brief meetings when he was very young.

he thought his uncle was a Adventurer, not someone who was going to hunt him down. he might have been a little strange look from the photos but a adventurer Notherless, something cool to imagine.

of course based on what he was going on about calculators and computers, it sounded like he did not get a cool Power like lightning or flight just calculating (analyzing, math stuff). even that vampire thing he was blabbing about would be cooler.

still most of what he said did not make sense and sounds about as logical as his actions with with Ms frizzle back during parent teacher conflict but with the place is reversed. with in this case his uncle bombarding him by shining a flashlight. he is not sure if he is ever gonna live that parent teacher conference down as he remembers that moment.

around this time his mother came saying how is everything. 'I am fine well, I don't know, that was one weird Easter dinner, even though your food was delicious.' your mom said thanks giggling at that before going back to being serious. 'are you sure you are ok,' with the boy saying back 'ya I mean I barely understood any of it but you know I always loved comics and super powers.' The mom said 'yeah I know you do.' The mother knowing that there is only so much you can dig in, well before she hears her son say what was he exactly talking about. I got the Calculator, computer stuff but it was weird.

The mother answers I am assuming you mean you being a calculus. she then begins 'o Ralphie I will say I never think anything like this would ever happen for you to be one, in all things but a calculus is at least from what I heard is someone who can do calculations, well' changing course Midway, 'not just do well like someone who studies hard, though you should still study your math and better your grades but basically see the angles in real time. Some phrase it as the possible probabilities using math in in real time whatever theory is true it is definitely something else.'

after a quick pause then the mother continued saying 'though occasionally along with this ability some also have the know how instinctually with technology.' The boy says 'so you mean someone who is a mechanic.' The mother responded 'no, something more than even that. usually The power gives someone The knowledge of what a machine does in possible ways to use or fix it. but like I said that one is more of a 'longshot' and less known probably due to a lot of the advancement on a larger scale with some more recent to the general public.' The mother thought of asking about the whole 'bus scenario' but knew he had it for the day. she realizes she probably got a little more technical towards the end for a kid of his age to understand but hopefully he understands what is important, definitely considering her brothers new appointed supervising position.

her son said so he thinks I really have some calculating power, I mean the computer stuff sounds slightly interesting but well I was hoping to defeat bad guys by using super speed and chasing down all the bad guys.

The mother said well as cool as that would sound we have to deal with the reality of everything. I am sure you will do well just be careful this is not superhero show where are you can just round up the bad guys you have to learn and study just like everyone else. with his son saying auu, I thought this was going to be fun. The mother saying no this is going to be about learning. I am going to be doing stuff downstairs come down when you ready. before she exits the room.

she does not know how to deal with this. her brother literally said "but if I spot something else that's special I will take care of it." what else should she take it for. she just has to believe that there is something at the end of that tunnel something bright but as she knows vampires are creatures of the night creatures in darkness.

at the same time Ralphie feels this has got to be the weirdest thing that ever happened to him. which is strange considering nothing has really happened to him yet and he was one time got shrunk and another time paddled in a volcano.

which led him to thinking how did they know about the bus no one knew about the bus no one outside except Janet And the rest of misfits all is well tips like that was recycling plant owner. he might be over his head more than he thought or maybe that means they are allies like most others that knew the bus. well whatever that means he better get down it seems that his brothers are ready to play a round with him.

i actually came in planning on writing the first chapter with the uncle supervising him or some sort of thing with uncle but I realized it probably would be good to explain The power which is going to be a prominent role for the rest of the show. I also wanted to at least put a little epilogue on what The immediate family is thinking. (including the chapter before since they were both outlined at the same time)

maybe you noticed I use the original opening from the first episode, Just decided it fit when I was copying the opening to put here. now for that metaphorical last line the mum said about vampires, that got twisted fast. even I thought something when it came onto the paper. now onto story decisions.

to be honest I did not notice the parallel, unlike some of the other homages (and references, I hope I am using the other word right.) until writing this chapter. it was just the most logical thing I could think of and a slight play on the 'intruding family member' soap opera plot, not creepy man comes back. Remember I made this storyline last year even though I did not write all the chapters or even had a decided direction at that time. how was I supposed to know that not one but two shows (Young and the restless and Archers) were used the exact same style storyline (creepy man comes back) at the exact same time.

I will say that having someone title a calculus is definitely going to make any beta writing situation more difficult but on the upside it is easy for voice dictation.
