ep56 (w25 ep1) a game together (word count 620)
I will be honest I have been back-and-forth even more in this chapter than the other two because this is a chapter that technically could be solved with us one paragraph recap in the next chapter with these characters and I know I used 1 week with two chapters including one that was just him watching from the window but I feel there is something we can gain from this chapter.
I realize that all the chapters for this did not have any close discussion between the two of them because other character was kind of distracte so I hope you enjoy this even though I am aware that this slows down the timeline a lot.
about the chapter I chose to do an arcade that has tokens. in this time period some arcades use tokens and a few used coins or even dollars/domination of money in your place. (house of the dead used dollars in their game) I chose tokens because if it was a cash arcade we will probably run through the money within 10-20 minutes longest (if he was careful and chose the cheapest) and I am having them stay there at least 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

The two of them made it to the arcade and Ralphie began playing some games. he enjoyed many of the games though A few of them used more tokens and others as he continued he kept remembering how he and his uncle used to have a lot of fun here but his adventurer Uncle has turned into the creepy presence behind him.
as he finishes a game he notices his uncle behind him as ralphie waves ed his uncle says just checking up on you just a reminder you do have to get home before sunset. as Ralphie looks has his watch he says he has a little time left before needing to return and says thanks but I think I have time for a few more game. The way that his uncle said that the statement seems almost family like towards the end even if mostly somewhat threatening. uncle ed says 'just being sure'
he looks at a game and says 'remember this one' looking at a shooting game with two realistic toy shape weapons. Ralphie says 'yeah we used to enjoy the child remembering fondly those times.' The Uncle says 'do you want to play a round' with ralphie saying 'sure unsure on how to go about it in another way.' as they come up to the game to begin the uncle says got a token with Ralphie shaking his head inserting the token into the game.
as it begin they see the screen turn into a trail in which they have to aim at a different creatures Ralphie focused on getting the ones nearest to him. his uncle focusing on making sure to get the most durable away before the creatures got to them and decrease the health meter before moving the video game weapon away from the screen to load up again. they got through a few levels understanding each other enough do a decent job even if not perfect on the game , focusing their aim on the areas that got rid of enemies on the video game the fastest. as the game ends Ralphie forgets for a moment all of the stuff that happened in this past week with him and his uncle and feel like uncle Ed is just back from a Adventure visiting him instead of him being his new duty. as he smiles to his uncle his uncle smiles back for a second before gaining his composure.
his uncle says uu well that was fun. (uu is supposed to be a sound effect I am not sure how well that went) with ralphie saying definitely. The uncle thinking maybe things might be different and maybe he will only have to deal with the calculating stuff. granted he knows a vampire is one thing but a vampire with calculus powers, still he can still imagine right now he has his cousin and they will have fun in the arcade while it lasts.
Ralphie says great job we really beat those creatures. The uncle then says yeah we did, you know I really hope everything works out alright because even after everything I still love you. Ralphie shocked at the sappy stuff but touched and slightly confused at the same time said slightly hesitant I , I love you too, love to beat you on the next game. with the Uncle saying you on. both of them enjoying the amazing time they have.
they put a few games some together some not before they left. as they were getting ready to go on the bus home Ralphie said you know that was fun with the uncle saying I enjoyed that too. do not think I forgot about everything but hopefully things stay the way they are.

I am not sure how Ralphie would react to that last sentence but even though I know that was too deep for a approximately fourth grader to expect. hopefully I will have time to make some more semi sweet chapters between the two of them.
I will say that it was a little difficult to have that I love you seen remembering that we are talking about younger kids particularly boys that might not want to be too sappy. at least that is how Ralphie is portrayed on the show. I am really hoping I am beginning to make the Uncle more two dimensional because even I realize I can not have a character saying I am going to kill you every five seconds on this story and even though he is there to watch him because he is unsure if he will become a vampire these two are still uncle and cousin so there should be more family style chapters along with the strict side of the uncle. as I mentioned this character is the most difficult one. sometimes I wonder if I went the right route but he is a part of the story now. like I said I choose between having them be from the supernatural side or from the hunter side. looking back if I knew I was going to have him be a calculus with action man style powers I would have not shows on the hunter side but what is done is done.
I chose the two of them to have them play one of those gun games. I went to the arcade as a kid but I was not playing shooter games I did Donkey Kong, dance revolution ski ball along with ones I could not name you due too how long ago it was though mostly cabinets style. I did searches on the Internet to make sure that there is a decent number of them that exist but I am not sure how popular they were bought. I know that just because some thing exist does not mean it was widespread. I searched a mix of 90s to early 2000s since I assume that place would keep the game for about five years at least and avoided games within two years of when this story takes place. my first was one of the house of the dead so I am not sure which one but I have only seen that one in one place I went. I also saw a terminator one on the Internet so I combined the two of them.
