Book I: Birth of the Order
Chapter XV: Trapped
Remus held his breath a bit as he dialed the rotary on the payphone as the sun set. He usually held his breath a bit this time of day due to full moon PTSD, but this time guilt was driving the internal anxiety. He listened carefully as the phone clicked on the other end and he heard a quiet voice answer. "Hello?" He didn't say anything for a long while and the voice came again, "Hello? Who is this?"
"Mum?" Remus finally said. When there was nothing but silence hiis heart sank. He knew it. They were mad at him. He'd caused them so much heartbreak. Suddenly he heard a sniffle on the other end and could tell his mother had started to cry at the sound of his voice. "Mum. I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry."
"My little boy. How could you ever think you are a burden to us?" She asked through the sniffles. "We know that's why you left. It isn't true, Remus. You could never ever be a burden. We have been so worried about you. How could you do this?"
"I know, Mum. Once again I caused pain to people I care about. Only this time I thought I was doing the right thing. Can you ever forgive me?"
"Oh, sweetheart. Of course we do. Nothing you could ever do could change how much we love you. We miss you so terribly. I wish your father was here to listen to your voice."
"How um..." His voice betrayed him as it cracked a bit and he cleared his throat. "How is he?"
"He's missing you terribly. He feels responsible."
"No. Mum. That's the last thing I wanted. When will he be home? I want to talk to him too."
"Oh, he's been gone for the last two weeks. Newt Scammander sent him a note asking for help with something and of course your curious father had to go see about it. It also helped as a distraction from missing you so, but don't you worry about me. I've kept myself busy."
"Two weeks?"
"Just about, yes."
"Then how did my owl get to him? I sent the Potter's owl to you both last week and he wrote back. Did you forward my letter on?"
"Remus, I've not gotten an owl here. And I wouldn't be able to forward a letter on because I don't know where he is right now. Maybe the poor thing got lost."
"No. No I wrote a letter telling where I was staying so you wouldn't worry." His voice became anxious. "I wrote it last week and Dad replied with the news about Edna."
"Enda? His old assistant? What's happened to her?"
Remus stumbled back against the glass phone booth door a moment at the thought. "Mum. I think someone intercepted my owls and wrote back pretending to be Dad."
"Who could do that though?"
"Mum, I'm sorry I have to go. Stay inside, lock up. Don't answer the door for anyone do you understand?"
"Remus, please don't go. What's going on?"
"I'll call back I swear. Godric, I wish I could give you a big hug right now. But I've just put everyone in danger. I've got to warn them."
"Remus-"
"I'm so sorry, Mum. I love you." He hung up the phone and pushed through the glass door. He thought through everything he had written. He had to get Tabitha and warn the others before it was too late. Remus walked as fast as he could, stumbling a couple times as his legs were not back to full strength yet. He let out a breath of air as he saw the cafe still glowing with light, no sign of trouble, but as he took one step closer he kicked something on the ground. When he looked down he saw the last thing he wanted to see in the dirt. Tabitha's wand, unmistakable with generations worth of celtic carvings on the stem. He picked it up and looked around. "No..." Remus ran up the steps of the cafe and pushed into the door, the bell over the door almost ripping off its hook.
"Can I help you?" The woman behind the counter said, a bit alarmed at his loud entrance. "Table for one?"
"I'm looking for a girl."
"Aren't we all?" She said with a laugh but he just panted and scanned the cafe. "Sorry... guess you're too straight for that joke." She just shrugged. "Sorry, bloke. Only other customers I have right now are two gents. She pointed out two old muggles chatting at the table in the back. "But don't get discouraged. Maybe she just is running late. Say I've got some makeup in my purse. I could help you cover up some of those skin blemishes before your date shows up and sees you." Remus just turned and raced out of the cafe. He ran down the alley. "Tabitha!" He raced back and forth, looking in every corner. "Tabs! Please." He stopped and panted frantically. "Please..." He listened to the night, but not one sound came. She was gone.
Malfoy Manor...
Tabitha awoke with her head pounding. She faintly remembered the sound of someone behind her in the street, a strong hand grab her, a struggle, then nothing. Now everything was cold and damp. Her eyes adjusted to the dim light of the cellar around her. She was laying on her side on the ground and when she moved to sit up she heard a clink behind her. Looking around she saw that she had bumped into crates of wine bottles. "A wine cellar?" She mumbled confused. As she sat upright she realized couldn't move her arms or legs. Looking back she saw ropes around her wrists and arms. "No..." She yanked frantically but the ropes shrunk tighter, digging into her arms. "No, No, No!" Her voice echoed anxiously as she realized her situation, letting out a painful hiss as the rope dug into her skin.
"I wouldn't do that," a voice called. Tabitha stopped struggling instantly and scanned the room. Sitting on the base steps of the cellar entrance, in the dark except for the flicker of one lantern, someone was watching. He stood slowly and reached for the lamp beside him. As he turned the dial to ignite more of the wick, the light grew and revealed his face.
"Fenrir Greyback," Tabitha whispered to herself.
He made his way across the room to her and she attempted to scoot backward away from him. "Those are enchanted my dear. Every pull makes them tighten. A little charm developed specially for maintaining beasts like yours truly. The less you struggle, the easier this will be for you."
"Where the hell am I?"
"No introductions, Eh? Well that's sort of rude," He grumbled. "We are in a cellar. That's all you need to know."
"What do you want with me?"
"Me?" He raised his eyebrow. "Oh nothing. I'm not the one who brought you here. I'm just babysitting while Max cleans up. Apparently you gave him quite the fight before he was able to stun you. You even bit him."
Tabitha wasn't amused. "Maybe he shouldn't jump people in dark streets then." Her heart was racing. If watching Dennis get killed by Regulus a month ago wasn't a wake up call to the reality of this war, being abducted was. "Anyway, whatever he wants, I can't help him. I don't even know a Max."
"You knew his brother. Dennis?" He watched her face shift at the name. "Ah, so you do know him?"
"Forrestor? I did know him... He's dead now."
"Uh oh," Greyback said in an uncaring tone with no hesitation. "Not that I care. Never cared for siblings. I killed most of my blood relatives first chance I got," he laughed and started to circle her. "A 'found family' is so much better, don't you think? I guess in my case it would be more forced-family… one bite on a full moon and we are kin. But no worries. I'm sure that Max will-" Tabitha heard him stop behind her and sniff the air. After a moment he moved towards and knelt beside her and grabbed her hair, pulling her towards him and sniffing her scalp.
"Agh! What the hell are you-"
"Lupin was your date tonight."
"Lupin? What do you want with him?" She winced as Greyback let go of her hair and grabbed her chin, scanning her eyes. "He's just an old classmate of mine," she managed to say before he tighted his grip on her jaw.
"No... No Max said he waited in that town for hours watching the owl post when he saw a 'young couple' walk up. It was Lupin with you. I smell him all over you. He must have really needed to lean on you a lot after a full moon like this one."
"How did you find us?"
"And... oh how sweet... you like him." He said ignoring her question. "Date must have gone well huh? Did you get lucky?"
Tabitha scowled up at him and muttered, "In case you forgot, your friend cut our evening short." She tried to yank out of his grip but failed.
"Oh are you mad we broke up the party? Well how was I to know my little runt had a date with you? He's always been such a loner. Trust me I know how to ruin my pup's fun if I wanted to-"
"Your what?" Tabitha's eyes widened as she realized.
"Oh!" Greyback let out a single below. "Oh this is priceless." He let her go with such a shove that she fell backwards "He hasn't told you? I did it. I was the one who created him ,my dear. I made him who he was. But he's the only one of my creations that insists on trying to stay as human as possible. And now he's gone and found a bitch for himself?" He reached down and lifted her head with the tip of his nail to inspect her, "and such a plain one too? I guess even he knows he can't have the best of the best being what he is." He sighed. "Remus Lupin is trying to find a little shrivel of happiness. Well, we can't have that, can we?"
"Don't touch him!" She snapped.
"I don't have to do anything to him to hurt him... now that he has you."
"Fenrir," snapped Max as he entered. "I just told you to watch the door, not flirt with her."
"Jealous I don't give you this much attention, Maximus?" Greyback asked without taking his eyes off Tabitha. He stared down at her like he'd just unwrapped a new Christmas toy, but Max moved between them and Regulus followed down the steps and halted when he saw Tabitha.
"What's going on? What is she doing here?" Regulus asked.
"We thought you would want someone more your age to play with, Black!" Greyback said with a mocking grin. He squatted back down next to Tabitha and lifted her by the hair towards him, pressing her cheek against his. "Surprise!"
Tabitha and Regulus locked eyes for a long time as if they were speaking to one another without words. They both knew the situation that was about to unfold. In that moment, Regulus just saw the girl from the Gryffindor Table, the one he passed in the hall, the girl who assisted Slughorn with the first year potions class and together they stayed after class to wash out the cauldrons together. Seeing her in this state now shook him. If the gravity of killing Dennis wasn't enough, this scene was the true recognition that he was in way over his head.
"Black," Tabitha pleaded in as calm a tone as she could being cheek-to-cheek with a murderer. "For the love of God, stop this and help m-" Regulus just stared at her as Greyback covered her mouth with his hand and chuckled.
"Don't beg, Tabitha. You'll have plenty of chances to do that later. Trust me." Greyback said and looked up and nodded to Max.
"Has Fenrir told you who I am, Tabitha?" Max said.
"Mhmm..." She mumbled finally looking at him.
"My brother has gone missing. I believe you knew him. His mission was to kill you, but he thought you'd serve our mission better alive. Last I heard from him, he was going to recruit you, willingly or not. Then he never returned."
"Max-" Greyback started.
"Now, Fenrir is going to let go and you're going to tell me," Max spoke over Greyback and walked up to Tabitha. "What did you impossible children and your old man do to him?"
"Max!" Greyback snapped as he let go of Tabitha and stood. "He's dead."
Max looked to Greyback then down to Tabitha. Her eyes locked with his for a long moment of silence before he ripped out his wand out. He started to pace around Tabitha. "When..." Was all he could manage between anger filled breaths. Tabitha stayed silent. She was looking around the room for any sign of where she was. She fumbled with the ropes but they sunk deeper into her arms. When Tabitha didn't answer Max shoved his heel into her side, sending her sprawling to the floor and the binds tightening even more into her skin as she struggled to try and break the fall. "Answer me, bitch!" Max shouted. Regulus winced and took a step back.
After a moment to catch her breath Tabitha said, "Paris."
"Paris..." Max thought and looked at Regulus "You went to Paris with him."
"A-And like I told you, I got tired of waiting for him. I left and he never followed." Regulus said trying to act calm. Max could see right through him though. The Forrestor brothers were like yin and yang. Dennis believed the crimes he committed were for the greater good. Maximus was just vengeful and full of the elements that make a human despicable. He just stepped over Tabitha laying on the ground and approached Regulus swiftly.
"You're lying, Black. You were there. I know you were there. Bellatrix told me you went to Paris with him. Now who killed him?"
Tabitha looked to Regulus, cowering as little as he could while standing tall. He looked so small in that moment. All she could think of was her own little brother. He would be about Regulus' age now if he was still alive. Would he also be in this situation? Lost? Scared? In over his head due to pureblood prejudice with nobody to help him out?
"Answer me, brat! Or should I say Blood Traitor!" Max yelled to Regulus with so much venom in his voice and aimed his wand at him.
"It was me!" Tabitha shouted back in fear but quickly took a breath and calmed her tone to repeat. "It was me... I killed him. I didn't want to, but he gave me no choice."
Max turned to face her and looked back to Regulus one more time. He just stormed over towards her and flicked his wand at her, casting a knockback jinx. Tabitha flex back from the ground and hit the large stone pillar in the center of the cellar. She shouted before crumpling to the ground. Max stood over her. "Then, allow me to carry out his last mission... and kill you!"
"Dibs on the body. I'll wrap it up with a bow and send it to Lupin," Fenrir laughed.
"No!" Regulus said quickly, stepping forward. "You can't kill her. S-she knows too much that we need."
"I'll deal with you later, Black," Max said as he aimed at Tabitha.
"What about the prophecy?" Regulus asked.
"Keep out of this!" Tabitha shouted at Regulus but he continued anyway, frantically.
"Your brother said she had some prophecy that he thought referred to Voldemort's power. She got away with it, but maybe we can get some of it out of her?"
Max stared down the barrel of his wand and deeply into Tabitha's eyes a long time before lowering it. "You're right. For a moment, I forgot our main mission..." He set a cold hand on Regulus shoulder, very close to his neck though so Regulus couldn't tell if he was resisting strangling him or now. "So you're proposing we tortue it out of her?"
"I... um..."
"Well done, little Black," Max said.
"She's also leverage... my little pup has a crush on her," Fenrir added.
"No. She's bait."
Max walked around him and grabbed Tabitha by the arm to pull her upright so she was sitting up, face to face with Max. "Do what you want," Tabitha said coolly, "but leave the others out of this. I killed your brother, not them.
"And snitches get stitches is that it?" He laughed, "Well sorry. We have some questions for you, Tabby."
Meanwhile at the Potter Estate...
"Sirius slow down," Marlene said asked she practically chased him around the study where everyone had gathered. "What the bloody hell are you looking for?"
"She had that book, right?" Sirius asked. "She said it has secrets Voldemort wanted? Well maybe they'll trade her for the book." He started pulling books off the shelf.
"You're going to just hand over secrets Tabitha swore to protect?" Marlene asked.
"Of course not," He stopped and faced her. "But if you give me the damn book I can make a duplicate and maybe they will fall for it."
"Do you think they will fall for that?," Angus muttered.
"I'm sorry," Sirius said with a forced laugh and then stared darts at Angus, "I missed the part where you were invited into this conversation."
"Sirius," Marlene said seriously and snapped her fingers to reclaim his attention, "He's right. We aren't risking Tabitha's life on a chance."
"Risking? Risk-?" He exaggerated his stunned face, "I'm trying to bloody save her life! Moony back me up here." They all turned and looked to the couch where Remus was glancing down at Tabitha's wand still in his hand. After finding it in the alley he had raced immediately back to the others. Everyone had finished dinner and started getting ready to bed. Almost everyone had said their goodnights to prepare for the next day festivities but Sirius, of course, had one last smoke to sneak in when Remus interrupted it and share the news. Now, slowly, everyone left at the house was scrambling to get changed to go find Tabitha. "Rem?" Sirius asked again.
"What?" He snapped as they forced him out of the thought. "You know why they want her." Remus said sternly. "She's a Pureblood. She's going to refuse to join them and they'll kill her! All while we sit here doing nothing and eating Jordan almonds!" He kicked the coffee table holding the pile of pre-wrapped wedding favors and sent them tumbling to the ground just as James came in.
"Remus!" James shouted. "I know you're irritable around that time of the month, mate but keep your shit together."
"That time?" Angus asked.
"Time to start coming up with a plan," Sirius chimed in. "At least I had one before Angus ruined it."
"I didn't do bloody anything, Black!"
"As usual," Sirius huffed..
"Enough!" James shouted. "Fighting gets us nowhere. And Remus, pick up those damn almonds. My mother worked hard on those!" James moved over to Sirius at the bookshelf and stood beside Marlene. "What's your plan, Padfoot?"
"He thinks we should trade a decoy book for her," Marlene said back. She rolled her eyes at him frantically searching. "Oh for goodness sake, Black! Stop ruining Fleamont's book collection. I remember what the book looked like, I'll make one." She scooped up a random book and walked over to desk with her wand to start working on it and Angus followed.
James waited for them to be out of earshot and then moved closer to Sirius. "Can you stay calm, please? Moony is Moody enough from this last moon. We don't need you-"
"It's not just because of the moon, James," He sighed and glanced at his friend who was crawling around the floor picking up candies. "I promised I wouldn't tell but Remus and Tabitha-"
"Don't." James said. "Don't tell me if you promised. At a time like this, trust in one another is all we have. James walked to one of the winged arm chairs beside them and sat on it. "What do you think is going to happen to her?"
"I think we don't have time to sit around and find out."
"And the others? Fred and Alice and all them? Should we call the rest of the order?"
"Not if this is a trap," Sirius said rubbing his neck as he finally began to focus.
"And you think it is?"
"Why else would they want her, James? They know she won't join them willingly. That Death Eater was supposed to kill her last month and they got away. I'm shocked they didn't kill her dead already. Could whatever is in that book be so important?"
"Right, James thought. "It's not like they know about the untraceable wands she's making with Olivander, do they?"
"Traceable wands." Sirius muttered.
"No, she's making un-traceable ones. The ones we duel with-"
"No," He walked past James and approached Remus. He pulled Tabitha's wand from his hand and lifted it to show it to everyone. "We can trace Tabitha's wand to find her! McKinnon," Sirius asked but both Angus and Marlene looked up at the same time. "The McKinnon with an actual brain," He added referring to Marlene. "When you were at Olivander's with Delaney, did they say how wands are traceable?"
"Sure. It sort of works like a portkey once you have the right ingredient. You have to know what the core is, then match it to the wand you're holding and it will take you to the owner. That's why they were creating wands that the Order could use without cores, so that if a Wizard or Witch lost their wand in a fight, it couldn't be used to locate them later."
"Great," Remus said snatching back Tabitha's wand from Sirius. "Any idea what her wand core is?"
"All she said is that she prays I never find out… whatever that means."
Just then the door to the Library opened and Lily came in and added. "That's how she always referred to grief."
"But grief can't be a wand core," Remus grumbled.
"Sure it can," came Peters voice from one of the chairs by the fireplace and everyone jumped and shouted in surprise.
"Pete!" Sirius said. "How long have you been in here?"
"I was the first one in here," he grumbled. "Nobody has bothered noticing me lately is all."
"We are a bit preoccupied, Peter," Remus clapped back. "In case you didn't notice, Fenrir Greyback walked off with my… friend."
"Greyback?" Angus looked up from Marlene's work.
"Remus, we don't know if it was him," James said.
"Who else knows my father's handwriting, James? Who else would toy with us by writing back and forth posing as my father. I bet he saw the two of us and waiting until the moment we were apart to grab her."
"Plus, he's been stalking us since Diagon Alley," Peter added. "He bumped Marlene in the street on purpose that one time."
"He's been stalking you?" Angus asked his sister.
Just then she finished the book. "Done! Lily come check this for me will you?"
Lilly ran over and checked the cover of the book. "Looks like the one I remember from her nightstand but," she opened the pages and flipped through, "I think you might want to change the content. If they open this and start reading the 'History of Hair Tonics' they might realize it's a fake." Marlene nodded and began to transcribe the English words into Gelic.
Angus silently slipped from beside the girls over to Remus and Sirius. "If Fenrir is involved that complicates things."
"Um, I think the fact that they have Tabby under lock and key is already complicates it enough. Adding a Werewolf to the mix doesn't really take it from easy to hard," Sirius muttered, "idiot."
Agnus finally gave him a shove, "Enough! What the hell is your problem, Black?"
"You are!" Sirius said pushing back. "Always shoving in to matters that aren't your business!"
"What are you talking about?"
"You can't be that dimwitted to have forgotten already! You barge into things and screw everything up! You should just stay here so Delaney doesn't end up dead because you interfered."
"Hey!" Remus grabbed Angus and pulled him back, standing between the two as James pulled Sirius back. "Listen.. As much as we all want to blow off some steam right now, James is right. We have to get a grip."
The room fell quiet for a moment and Lily suddenly realized Peter was never given the opportunity to finish. "Pete? You said grief can be used as a core after all?"
"Mhmm…" He said, having also clearly noticed he'd been forgotten about in the middle of making his point. "Thestral hair."
"What the bloody hell is that?" James asked.
"They're the only creature that remains hidden until someone has witnessed someone die." Remus said.
"Tabitha said the Delaney family tree started with death. And Mr. Olivander said grief follows her family," Marlene said.
"But she hasn't watched anyone die has she?" James asked.
"Her brother," Remus said. "She told me about him tonight. I think she saw it happen."
"She what?" James stood stunned. "I didn't even know she had a brother."
"Thestral hair then," Lily said, not wanting the conversation to become one about Tabitha's private life. "But which of us has seen death? Otherwise we won't be able to find a Thestral" They all looked around and realized none of them had.
"Well Marley," Lily suggested. "You saw that death eater die that Regulus killed. Marlene just looked at Lily with stunned eyes. "What..." Lily was confused. "What did I say?"
"Regulus did what?" Sirius said and everyone turned to face him.
"Mate," James said, "I was supposed to tell you-"
"Regulus did it? He killed someone?"
"He saved our life," Marlene corrected trying to make light of the situation. "I was closing my eyes though…" She said sadly.
"I've seen death." Peter muttered.
The entire room stared at him stunned, nobody daring to ask for clarification. "I saw some wild Thestrals on the other side of the property just the other day. They may still be there."
"Um… well… lead the way then, Wormtail."
"And I thought of what you said about Greyback, Angus," Peter said as he slid off the chair to stand. "I think it's time the rest of the Maruaders come clean about some things. I'm an animagus too. It's not just James. So is Sirius." The room remained quiet but all eyes fell on Sirius to check his reaction as he was outed. He just stood solemnly. "And we can use that to get around a werewolf's scent. Let's just say I have some experience with werewolves too."
"Ok, Peter. No need to divulge further," James said stopping him. "What's your plan then?"
"Let's come up with one as we find the Thestrals," He said and led the way out of the Library, everyone still left with so many questions about the young boy they thought they knew.
Back at Malfoy Manor...
Tabitha cried out as a painful stinging jinx ran through her veins. Max's anger and grief of his brother's murder was being manifested in his curses. Tabitha stayed defiant though, biting her lip so much that it had split and was bleeding. Max grabbed her by the hair and forced her to look at him. He was incredibly tall, almost as tall as Fenrir, so Tabitha was being pulled nearly off the floor. "You can't hold back forever, Tabitha. What Prophecy is in this book of yours?"
"I don't know what you're talking about! That book was filled with a bunch of Irish fairytales-"
"Tabby-"
"Stop calling me that-"
"-it's admirable of you to put up a fight. It is. But your backing the wrong side. The sooner you realize that, the sooner this is all over. In the meantime... you're just annoying me."
Max hurled her against the floor and her head crashed against one of the cement pillars. The side of her face hit it, breaking the skin on her forehead and she started to bleed from her scalp.
Regulus moved forward, "Stop!"
"Why?" Max spun around. "What do you owe her?"
"Stay out of this, Black." Tabitha said weakly with a shaky tone as she writhed on the floor.
"Unless she lied about what happened to my brother to protect you-" He stepped forward toward Regulus who tried to hold his ground.
"Oh lay off the kid, Max," Greyback grumbled and strutted to Tabitha to yank her up by her shirt. She could hardly stay upright and hung there, spitting out a bit of blood to prevent from swallowing it. Greyback chuckled and dragged her to the stone support pillar and rested her against it. He brushed her hair out of her face and wiped the blood from her lip gently before licking it off his fingers.
"I just mean," Regulus said calmly, "That she's no good to you unconscious."
Max chuckled and shook his head. He reached up and patted, practically smacked, Regulus on the cheek. "Nice cover, little boy. This is technically your family's home by marriage, so I'll let it slide for now. But know this," he grabbed him by the collar and yanked him forward, "I'll make you pay for what you've done... even if you swear you've done nothing." Just then they heard footsteps approaching and looked up as Lucious Malfoy came down the steps he stopped and paled at the sight of Tabitha.
"What is it Malfoy?" Max asked still nose to nose with Regulus.
"They.. um," he cleared his throat, "They're here. Potter and his friends. They've brought the book-"
"No-" Tabitha attempted to speak out but was cut short when Greyback grabbed her by the throat and shoved her with full force against the stone pillar. "Shhhhhhhhh," He hissed, "They big boys are talking." Tabitha squirmed a bit to try to shake free but defiantly whispered through the little breath she had, "M-Malfoy p-please-" but Greyback squeezed tighter, cutting off her air. "How did they find us so quickly?" He asked.
"I left her wand behind as a calling card. They figured out how to trace it faster than expected. I'll be sure to greet them then. Black, you come with me." He pulled Regulus after him by the collar and marched up the steps past Lucious. "Fenrir, get her to bloody talk by whatever means." Malfoy stood stunned as if he was having the same reality check Regulus had only minutes prior. When he was dueling in the streets of Hogsmede Village with Potter and his friends, it seemed different. Now... seeing what little chance of survival Tabitha had, seeing her broken and abused, this felt different. He was part of a team hell-bent on murder. "Malfoy!" Max shouted from upstairs and Lucious, pulled away from his thoughts, ran after them.
"Now that we are alone," Greyback said releasing Tabitha who gasped in all the air she could. She coughed in large breaths and choked on some blood. "That's it my dear," Greyback taunted. "Let it all out."
"I won't tell you anything just like I didn't tell Dennis' pathetic brother anything," Tabitha said.
"I have ways of making you talk, kid. Some of them are unconventional, but very satisfying... for me that is." He gave her a perverted look as his hand slid down her chest and waist and landed on the clasp of her trousers where he undid one of the buttons with his fingernail. He smiled with a wicked grin when he saw the color leave her face. "So we are on the same page then... good. Now. Let's start by giving Potter and friends a proper greeting. Oh! I know! Let's have you call out for my pup Remus."
"No." She said. She knew Remus would be emotionally unpredictable right after the moon. He'd rush in if he heard his friend in need, but would be too weak to make it far.
"Then I'll force it out of you." He said as the tone in his voice shifted. He grabbed her ankle with one hand and yanked on it so hard that she slid forward so fast and fell backwards, smacking her head against the stone floor. Her head spun as the wind was knocked out of her and when she got her balance back, Fenrir was on top of her. "Call your boyfriend, Tabby."
"I'm not calling any of them in here."
He ran his nail down her temple to her cheek. "You know... maybe you and Remus could have matching scars wouldn't that me nice?" She didn't answer but just shut her eyes and took deep breaths to stay calm.
"A hard egg to crack I see. Fine. Let's begin."
To Be Continued...
This weeks questions: Who did Peter see die? Are ever going to find out what caused Sirius to hate Angus so much? Will this new turn of events cause problems for Remus and Tabitha's relationship? What is the Prophecy?
