ep81 (w37 ep2) Newtons Presents (867 words)

I definitely had trouble choosing on that chapter before this considering severing made loose ends like newton says Newton but everything happened as it will. this episode turned out so well it convinced me to keep his entrance in the other episode. I hope you like this I had to do a few last-minute edits mentioned at the end but I think it turn out fine. granted I gotta say when I read the line I choose to end the episodes that happened previous to this event (which is 2 episodes ago) this does not sound like Newton. it is obvious added in a rush to have it transferred to the computer.

last time on the magical generations

Poseidon loses patience and begins the prank. "water started to float everywhere."

"Arnold makes a shocked noise baffled at the sudden display right before he felt a sting of sorts instead of the usual pulsing connection strange feeling in his body." "Newton briefly noticed the reaction" ep68 (w31 ep1) "Newton was thinking that boy Arnold had a weird reaction," a reaction he has never seen Arnold before like those with the ability or have tools able to control elements. ep71 (w32 ep2) "there is a electrical line of sorts in the air between him and the ship that ms frizzle pulls apart or cuts. at that moment Arnold feels a sharp sting almost pain before a slight bit of emptiness." right after Newton the cut comes in.(ep79 (w36 ep2))

frizzle said 'how are you doing today.' at that Newton says 'why is the ship everyone's talking about on the desk.'frizzle said 'oh I found it and made sure keep it safe.'Newton said back 'which is why arnold's is here.'at that they were both a a loss. frizzle try to make an excuse but Newton says 'I know better, I deal with my infamous prankster of a brother after all.' referencing Bob's antics. before continuing 'The ship has been lost for quite a time hasn't it.'frizzle says 'yes I found it on one of my travels. it was on a map I stored along somewhere that I recently decided to check out.' Newton in a look around tone says 'and where does our cousin fit in this', looking Arnold.

'frizzle says 'he was just keeping it safe for awhile, you know with ed the hunter in the picture.'Newton says 'oh.' thinking it is not like those people, referring to hunters like Ralphie's uncle Ed, usually go after anything other than vampires or those are really out of line (1) but it is always good to be safe. before he continues responding 'of all the people to stay a while he is sure someone who might cause a few, issues. Arnold said 'yeah but with a recent break-in I decided to return it.' talking about when Newton himself with his brother did a prank in the house but not really knowing what or who they are referring to in terms of the other stuff but going along with it. Newton responded though, 'granted something about this is not as answered as it should be,considering the things I seen and the scissors right there.'frizzle says 'oh I just put them down. I better put them away',frizzle already done with the severing at that point. at which point Newton explains what he saw with Arnold's reaction to Poseidon's floating water trick during the prank. Arnold was sitting there hearing about everything he hopes he is done with but the last thing he wants to deal with one of his relatives particularly after that night with the prank. he is still feeling the shock of the whole process of separating him from the ship somewhere deep, even if the sting (which tethered a connection) is fading. granted he feels he can deal with the deep unresponsive emptiness missing (ok I am doing a bad job since I am trying to do it from my point of view of an elementary school kid with limited life experience. basically it is like when you try to call some thing but nothing answers back in sort of a real life in your mind fashion, combined with when you feel something just not there.) rather than the echo and weird togetherness that ship brought. frizzle tried to state the reason for returning it was related to the break and it no longer being safely hidden there, something that seems reasonable. but Newton saw those severing scissors for cutting the connection between an tool and a user and knew there was more to it.

Newton says 'this is definitely not how it usually shall be but I understand the reasoning, this is Arnold's after all (Newton knowing his family) but a elemental' at that moment lunch was over and frizzle says 'I am sorry but it looks like I have to pick the kids up from lunch.' Newton knew that it was for a job and shake his head yes. Newton also knew Arnold must be a wreck and there is something else in all of this related to him choosing to sever the ship and what happened during the prank.

I had her come clean because I thought Newton would be considered trustworthy enough in a way to have frizzle tell him. of course she had to to go around it to make sure to not mention class field trips. of course lunch at the end at some point I think we were already extending the believability length of lunchtime. I know the lack of connection was instructed sloppily with a parentheses of all things but it was just never going to fit the wording of my story and I decided to put it there sloppily for the sake of the story. The idea of returning it because of the break in excuse was thought of later but really made sense so that is why it was put in with mostly summarized commentary rather than in discussion form.

As you see at the end I made a comment about a elemental tool before Newton got cut off. I feel like it was getting too long to put a will the building explanation plopped at the end and just would have been distracting. granted some tools have added elemental powers (as canon) and we might see more of this at some point. of course some people in the story also have it without a connection to the tool like Poseidon. (Who is still not the Greek God but named after him in relations to his powers) I honestly never thought of expanding this but it works.

I am still working how I am going to do everything with Newton in relationship to the storyline but I think it is interesting to see him without Bob. Do not worry we have a lot more stuff to go through even with the ship no longer connected that does not mean everything else is set and done.
