Hello one and all to a new fic of mine where we have a what-if scenario of if Ash and Pikachu went on a journey throughout the Paldea region and meet new Pokemon and friends along the way.
This first chapter covers Ash's arrival to Paldea, a narration explaining the backstory of how Ash got to be a student of Paldea and Ash's events during his first day in Mesagoza.
This first chapter is more of a slow start at first but I'm trying to figure out a good balance of details and making stuff more interesting without feeling overbearing.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Chapter 1: Arrival to Paldea (Introduction Arc: 1)
The Paldea region, a region full of life and adventure. This is the region where people and Pokemon truly become partners, some people live with Pokemon, some battle and some are companions but either way, there is a true sense of bond between people and Pokemon.
Up in the skies of Paldea, we see a plane that carries lots of people but in the 7th row, we see some particular people from a man with a whitish, brownish sort of hair with a happy look on his face named Professor Oak, a professor who studies' all forms of Pokemon around the world. Next to his right was a humanoid Pokemon named Mr Mime or better known as Mimey as he's wearing a blue shirt with palm trees while he's reading a book on 'Food of Paldea' and across the row was a beautiful woman named Delia whose hair was as smooth as...butter (Sorry hahaha) and was looking at a brochure of the places of interest in Paldea and next to her was her son and his Pikachu. That boy's name is Ash Ketchum, a 13 and a half year old kid from Pallet town also known as the 'wandering kid' but to most people, he's better known as the first champion of Alola and the World Champion and so you maybe wondering why he's on a plane to Paldea? Well let's back up to 2 weeks ago.
It was around two weeks ago when Ash won the Masters 8 tournament and became the World Champion, it was there where Ash is met by a man named Clavell, a headmaster of a luxurious school wearing an orange suit and white pants and his assistant Jacq who wears a lab coat, tan skin and light purple hair mixed with dark purple who is impressed by the ten-year old for being a World Champion at such a young age and because of this, he offers Ash a chance to enter the luxurious Naranja academy to become a student and is offered a champion rank and a mysterious 'Tera' stone offered by the champion of Paldea, La Primera which shocks the other participants of the Masters 8 as Naranja academy is within the top ten of greatest schools in the world.
Ash is shocked by this and wasn't sure at first but after being encouraged by the others to check the place out and how Paldea is a very unique place to start another journey especially when Lance mentions something of a 'Treasure Hunt', Ash agrees and wishes to start his journey in Paldea which Delia (who's over in Kanto) knew this was going to happen but is happy either way but Ash's pal Goh (who decided to stay for the final match) is upset but tries not to worry about it for now. For now, Clavell wishes to talk to Oak who is an old pal of his and Ash agrees to introduce him to Oak.
Back at Cerise Laboratory, Goh confronts Ash about just leaving him all of a sudden without the acknowledgement of the other's feelings of just leaving especially how Ash has helped Goh in so many ways and now he's just going to go leave Goh alone again causing a sort of rift between them for a bit. It was thanks to Chloe talking to Goh about Ash's goals and Professor Cerise talking to Ash about the future that causes both Ash and Goh to return and apologize to each other with Goh now accepting Ash's goal and comes in terms that even if Ash is gone, they can always meet again in the future. Ash, Goh and Chloe go their separate ways with Goh and Chloe promising Ash to meet him at the airport when the time comes.
Ash returns to Pallet town to see that Clavell had arrived and Clavell begins to explain what Naranja Academy is like, an academy that's huge in size and length, a school filled with wonderful teachers, excellent battlers and the best education out there. With the champion rank, Ash is able to get his lunches free and is able to go to places normally restricted to normal trainers and that's when Ash asks about the champion rank to which Clavell explains that in Paldea, there's no singular champion but rather it goes by a system where there are regular trainers, highly skilled trainers that have overcome all hurdles and are called 'Champion' and then there's the champion who protects all 'The Top Champion' which is the hardest rank to get.
Clavell asks Ash once more if he's up for the challenge of attending Naranja Academy, Ash nods as he's been through all sorts of regions and overcame all sorts of hurdles and Clavell notes that's how he kind of expected Ash especially after an interview after the tournament in which Ash explains his life story. Clavell and Ash shake hands (and gives a handshake to Pikachu as well) and that he'll see them in two weeks on a particular date.
Two weeks later, Ash (still wearing his Journey's outfit but sports a new cap whose green symbol resembles a rhombus), Pikachu, Delia, Mimey and Professor Oak head to the airport to begin their flight to Paldea but before Ash gets on board, he is confronted by Goh and Chloe who are about to say goodbye to Ash and thanking him for the experience they had with Goh being able to become more adventurous and Chloe being able to be more 'fun' in a way with Goh mentioning his goal is to still find Mew while Chloe isn't sure what she wants to do in particular but mentions that she's interested in finding out if Eevee has more evolutions elsewhere and all three hug as Ash says goodbye and with that, Ash and Pikachu head off to Paldea and now we head back to where we are in the present.
"Ash, Pikachu." Delia calls out to him.
"Aaassh."
"Ash?" Delia asks once more which cause Ash and Pikachu to start opening their eyes rather groggily but starts to open wide upon seeing the Paldea region from up in the sky, it was a region that was round kind of like a jelly donut or a Pokeball with a sort of volcano like crater being in the center and clouds that were covering the northeastern side of Paldea which awes both Ash and Pikachu who are ready to get off the plane but know they had to wait a bit longer.
"Are we almost there?!" Ash asks excitedly but Delia simply shakes her head keeping her soft smile.
"Almost, around 10 minutes to go." Delia says as they began to wait a bit longer. Ash looked to Pikachu who was still looking at the window in awe and Ash smiles towards his partner and turns Pikachu around to face him.
"Well Pikachu, it's been a while since we've been on a journey through just a single region so we'll have to readjust ourselves but, we've done this for a long time. You ready pal?" Ash asks confidently to which Pikachu nodded and both gave a fist bump.
"Pika!" Pikachu said confidently as they prepare for the final preparations of arrival.
They arrived shortly after and we later see Ash and Pikachu head out of the terminal appearing to look for someone important, they were looking for Clavell, the headmaster of Naranja academy who told them back in Pallet town that he would wait at the airport on that day wearing some out of place. To the gang's surprise, Clavell was wearing something rather out of place being a rather large hat that says, "I'm over at this direction." and the gang head towards Clavell who waves towards them.
"Ash! Over here!" Clavell says enthusiastically as the gang head over to the (rather handsome) old man as he bows to the group as they walk over to him.
"Good morning, Master Ash, Master Pikachu, Master Delia, Master Oak and Master Mimey. I'm pleased to make your acquaintance and allow me to reintroduce myself once more: My name is Headmaster Clavell, the headmaster of Naranja Academy, I welcome you to Paldea." Clavell says warmly.
Ash is humbled by this but shakes his head and says, "Please Mr. Clavell, Ash is fine."
Clavell smiles warmly.
"You have a kind heart young man, keep that with you. But for the next two days (technecally 3 for Ash), I want you to enjoy your time here exploring the city of Mesagoza" Clavell says kindly as he goes to Professor Oak and shakes his hand.
"Been a while old chum" Clavell says to Oak,
"Same to you old chum but we saw each other two weeks ago" Oak says chuckling.
"Haha, must be my age catching up. Ash, I never told you before while at the meeting, but I've known Oak since when we were around 8 years old and even studied at the Manzana academy in Northern Paldea to become professors." Clavell says casually.
Ash gets intrigued by this and asks, "There's more than one academy here?"
"Yes, in truth, there are actually 6 known academies in the region with all 6 being ruled under the school board with 6 headmasters including me representing the academies. In the south we have Naranja, in the east we have Uva, in the north we have Manzana, in the west we have Platano, we have Momolocoton in a far away region and lastly, we have an academy out near Unova known as Blueberry or Arandano to us Paldeans, the most elite school in the world where only the strongest lie and each academy also has a champion representee and one day, you might even take on the Arandano academy." Clavell responds casually which fires up Ash and Pikachu even more.
"Now that fires me up even more, right Pikachu!?" Ash asks his buddy who responds in his usual Pika enthusiastically to which Clavell smiles at them.
You remind me when I was at that age. Clavell thinks to himself before guiding everyone to a taxi and on their way to the city of Mesagoza to explore. They'll spend the first day going to explore Mesagoza, the 2nd day will involve Ash and the group exploring the academy, the third has Clavell having to finish some finalizations for Ash's accommodation so Ash and his group can explore before the family leaves and the 4th will be Ash's solo day before the major class.
As the taxi goes on, Oak and Mimey are in the 2nd row along with Clavell looking at the delicacies, while Ash and Pikachu are in the back seat looking at Pokemon they've never seen before outside, and Delia is next to them looking at her brochure.
"Mr. Clavell, what's Mesagoza like?" Delia asks.
"I'm glad you asked Ms. Ketchum. Mesagoza is considered the 'city of beginnings' as many trainers come from the south of Mesagoza where Los Platos and Capo Poco are located at and when they get through the doors and up to the middle of Mesagoza lies the 'Type Circle', a circle containing all 18 types and four paths to different places. Down south leads to Los Platos, West leads into Cortondo a town where many begin their adventure, east leads to the East Province, a rocky area full of tough Pokemon and lastly is north where the academy lies and where Ash's journey begins. In terms of its content, Mesagoza is full of shops, restaurants, sights and their signature bakery and their delicious cinnamon rolls! Sorry, I love Cinnamon rolls." Clavell tells them.
"Sounds wonderful!" Delia said delightfully.
The taxi arrives with the driving area of Paldea eastward as Mesagoza is known to be a walking style of city where many people usually take walking or riding a bike to get to places. The city was huge and full of life, trainers battling, children playing and people and Pokemon enjoying their food together. We see the group heading out of the taxi and taking a fresh breath of air before Clavell begins to explain their plans for today.
"Now that we're in Mesagoza, I have some exhilarating plans for today. For today, I'll be your tour guide and we'll explore market square where the shops and even some market stands are. and I have to mention, Mesagoza is more of a walking city than a driving one, so I hope you'll be ok walking for most of the journey?" Clavell asks to which Ash and Pikachu are seen stretching.
"That's fine with us, we're ready for anything!" Ash said to which Delia chuckles.
"Oh Ash." Delia says.
The group begins their trek inside of Mesagoza which was noted as very humid and warm and an overall nice walk to Market Sqaure in which we see various things in the background such as man, a woman and a Meowth battling to see who gets the last donut before a group Pokemon consisting of their leader a Quaxly distracts them and takes a donut, a little Charcadet wearing a bandana featuring a loaf of bread and a kind old man is seen promoting their specially Mankey bread, a group of two students in helmets and start sunglasses are seen searching for someone and a female teen black hair and some orange inside that hair accompanied by her shy brother with a similar hair color is seen eying Ash almost out of hatred goes off somewhere else while her brother follows.
They make it to the Market square where the business is hustling, and the people are out and about ready to shop. We see Clavell accompany Ash and Pikachu while the others are looking about as Ash takes in the sights.
"Is the square always this bustling?" Ash asks the headmaster.
"Well, it's always like this on a hot Saturday morning, most students usually sleep in, study, other activities and even battle other trainers but that's usually up to them on what they want to do for the weekend. I have to ask, is this your first time going to a Pokemon school?" Clavell asks out of curiosity.
"mmm uh, I went to the Pokemon school in the Alola region" Ash responds.
"Oh, I gave a presentation there a long time ago back when my hairs were starting to gray. Your teacher happens to be Professor Kakui, am I right?" Clavell asks the young man.
"Yeah, he's an excellent teacher, caretaker and an excellent battler!" Ash responds.
"Thought so. He was in the Pokemon school as a student back when I gave my presentation and even came to Paldea albiet not to Naranja but to Manzana academy where he was a very powerful battler even to the point of having a champion rank and challenging the most powerful champion ranked trainer there was at Arandano academy although he lost. But it seemed to have inspired him to learn more about Pokemon moves and decided to head back to Alola in order to get his professor's degree and become a teacher at the Pokemon school from what he told me." Clavell responds which seems to have excited Ash.
"That's so amazing! Right Pikachu!"
"Pika Pi!"
"Guess like you'll have to talk to him." Clavell says casually. As they were walking, Ash accidently bumps headfirst into a taller student carrying some groceries as some berries fall to the ground.
"Sorry about that!" Ash says as he and Pikachu help pick up the berries along with the teen.
"It's not a problem-" The teen says as he stops himself to look at Ash almost as if he's seen a ghost. The teen was around 5'6 with long light golden hair covering his right eye, he had blue eyes a yellow vest covering the school uniform and orange pants.
"Something wrong?" Ash asks.
"No, you reminded me of someone. Sorry and thank you!" The young man said as he rushed along. Clavell although wanting to ask the student some things decided not to and looked to Ash.
"That kid was Arven; he'll be you junior when the school season starts and he's the son of very famous professors but is kind of... a bit stubborn at times yet he's also very kind and very skilled chef." Clavell says to Ash and Pikachu who looked to be daydreaming about food.
"Pikachu, imagine the food they have at Naranja."
"Pikaaaa"
Clavell chuckles and looks to Ash. "Well, we'll have lunch soon at a nearby cafe, for now, check out the shops and see if there's anything if there's anything interesting for your room." Clavell asks to which Ash nods. The group begin to look around the place with Oak eventually buying some berries and a book on Paldean Pokemon, Mimey buying a charm and some clay that helps keep the hands relaxed and is said to boost Mimey's screen moves, and Delia buys a locket and Ash buys some Pokemon food for Pikachu and some Pokeballs and gets a Great Ball for free.
The group eventually arrives at a cafe for lunch and while eating, Ash happens to notice a girl across from the cafe being harassed by two of the helmet star glasses people mentioned earlier, the girl was holding an Eevee backpack and had pale skin and was wearing a black jacket, black leggings, black glasses and had short hair that was Red and light blue and looks to be very anxious and nervous almost wanting to leave.
"Hey Hey Hey! We happened to see you and we hope you can join our cause to start an 'evolution' against our bullies with Team Star by your side." The male Team Star teen said with confidence.
"It's 'Revolution' dunderhead! Evolution means growth, revolution means rebel and changing things for the better! Did you even read the official Team Star handbook?" The Team Star girl says to which the male grunt holds up a pamphlet.
"I've read it! I've got it right here!" The male grunt says to which the female grunt starts to get irritated and have veins on her head.
"You dummy! That's a pamplet to the Dellibird Presents we just went to when we got our helmets! You left yours at home, didn't you?" The female grunt said.
"I wanted to hide it from my sweet grandma who would be heartbroken if she saw me like this and I-"
As they were talking, the short haired girl looked more annoyed than anxious and was about to grab her Pokeball when Ash came running at them.
"Hey! Back off and leave her alone. She's clearly not interested!" Ash said running at them along with Pikachu to which the two grunts grab their Pokeballs.
"If you want to fight, that's fine with us. Come on out Shroodle!" the female grunt says, "Come on out Squawkabilly!" The male grunt says as they both sent out their Pokemon with the female grunt sending out Shroodle, a Pokemon that was a small rodent in stature and had buckteeth in the front of it's stout while Squawkabilly was a green bird Pokemon with a pompadour.
"So those are some new Pokemon here. Unfortunately, my Rotom phone (Cerise let him keep the phone) doesn't have its data yet so I'm unable to scan you but I'm ready to fight, right Pikachu?" Ash asks his partner, "Pika!" Pikachu says.
"Alright Pikachu use Thunder-" Ash stops himself upon seeing the grunts and their Pokemon having horrified expressions almost if something malicious was coming out of Ash but in reality, it was a humanoid Pokemon named Ceruledge that was behind Ash who was purple in color and had two large blades for arms that was eminating it's malicious energy. It was enough for the Star grunts to return their Pokemon and prepared to run away.
"We're running away again!" The Male grunt says as they disappeared of into the distance and Ceruledge returning to their Pokeball which was owned by Clavell who was whistling as if he didn't do anything.
"Well buddy, looks like we scared them off." Ash says while scratching Pikachu who was now on his shoulders, the girl who was harassed earlier starts to chuckle a bit and that's when Ash asked her out of concern, "You alright?"
The girl nods and starts to blush, "Than- Thank you" she said as she starts to bow and take her bagged lunch and prepares to leave but that's when Clavell arrives standing by Ash.
"Hold it, Miss Penny! I wish to see you in class in the new semester." Clavell says almost out of concern, Penny stops and appears to almost say something but stops herself and turns around to nod at Clavell before she leaves.
"Penny?" Ash asks, "She's a student at Naranja academy, she skips school at times but it's not that she's a troublemaker, she succeeds at her grades, is polite to her teachers and is a genius with computers but it's just. No, it's not my place to say but I will say that if you see any trouble brewing within Naranja, you come to me or a teacher. Even with your past experience, I'm scared to lose a student, understood?" Clavell asks Ash who nods to which Clavell warmly smiles and both get back to the table where the group is at.
Delia immediately checks on Ash to see if he's ok, "Ash are you ok?" she asks.
"Of course! It's in my nature to help a person in need! Right Pikachu"
"Pika!"
"Oh Ash, Haha you're always extraordinary." Delia says chuckling.
"Didn't you do this stuff when you were a kid?" Oak asks Delia to which she blushes.
"Oak!" Delia says rather embarrassed.
"Just joking" Oak says,
That kid is truly special Clavell says as he finishes his lunch, unbeknownst to the group, a female teen with tan skin and a green hair streak was watching from the distance from a corner with an orange Pika like Pokemon on her shoulder appearing to be smirking.
"Well Pawmi, that's the kid we're looking for, Ash Ketchum, the Alola/World champion and today we'll beat the champion and receive our rank as Champion. Ready Pawmi?!" The girl says confidently with stars in her eyes.
"Paw!"
The group eventually finish their lunch and eventually head to a the 'Type Circle' where they can get a good view of the school and of the landscape of Southern Paldea which is said to be the most beautiful on summer afternoons and evenings. Both Pikachu and Ash were racing up the stairs to get to the highest viewpoint with Pikachu winning in the end and eventually, the group makes it to the top where they see the beautiful landscape that was shining in the distance with the sun rays reaching Mesagoza.
"I finally found you. Champion!" A female voice calling to Ash, Ash turns around to see the girl with the green streak with her Pawmi standing in the center of circle looking at the academy.
"Today will be my day get my Champion rank and I'll do that by battling you, Champion! What do you say?" Nemona says as she turns to her right to look at Ash but is dumbfounded to find no one there.
"Um Miss Nemona. I'd suggest turning left once more, we're facing the sunset in front of the academy." Clavell says.
"Oh! Right." Nemona says as she turns left to face Ash, "What do you say?" she continues.
Clavell stands tall in firm and looks at Nemona, "Miss Nemona, as much as I would allow for this battle, Master Ash has just arrived in Paldea and would likely want to lay low for a while with his champion status and besides, the way you earn your champion rank is through-"
"Sure, I'll battle you!"
"The gym challeng- wait what?! You're not serious?" Clavell asks in disbelief.
"I've been searching for my first battle in Paldea and this is it. Plus, she shares that battling spirit with me!" Ash says excitedly which causes Clavell to be shocked in disbelief comedically which causes Delia and Oak to chuckle.
"It's Ash's number 1 code, once he arrives to a new region, he has to search for a new battle. Some things never change for the boy" Oak said chuckling.
I have two battleholics, what am I going to do with them. Oh well Clavell thought to himself before pointing towards a battlefield over there. "Well, I guess I can't stop ya both from battling but if you want to battle, the field is over there, it's a popular place for battle on a sunny day." Clavell says as they head over to the battlefield. Ash goes to the left of the field while Nemona heads to the right with Clavell heading towards the middle.
"This battle will be a 1V1 against Ash from Pallet Town and Nemona from Capo Poco. The trainer who's Pokemon are still left standing are the winners and the use of Terastalization is allowed! Please send out your Pokemon!" Clavell says as the referee of this match. Ash in intrigued by the word Terastalization which is when he remembered something back at Pallet Town about the Terastalization phenomenon.
Back in Pallet town at Professor Oak's, we see Ash, Delia and Oak talking with Clavell and Jacq about what to expect at Naranja Academy when Ash brings up the Tera Stone, he received at the awards ceremony which made Jacq and Clavell freeze up a bit.
"The truth is- The top champion herself was actually going to present you with the award if she gone to Galar but due to school issues, she had me go with Jacq instead, but the Tera Stone was not supposed to be in here, it must've gotten in there by accident when she gave the suitcase but then again, La Primera is known to be a bit clumsy." Clavell says.
"So, what is Tera?" Ash asks while Pikachu is sleeping in Delia's lap.
"Well, let me put it this way. A Pokemon's type never changes no matter if they're a shiny, big or small with the only exceptions being regional forms as their biology is a bit different but what if I were to tell you that a Pokemon in Paldea is able to replace their type all together with a new one?" Jacq says which intrigues Ash and Pikachu who immediately wakes up from his nap upon hearing this.
"Interesting? This is what Terastalization is able to do, through these stones, they change the type of the Pokemon entirely for that battle so an Electric type like Pikachu can Tera type into its own type for a power boost while a Fire type like Arcanine can become a Water Tera type to avoid its water type weakness for instance. But there is a caveat, that Pokemon that Terastalizes gains the weakness of that type unless it's ability counteracts that so an Eelektross for instance is able to Tera type into a Fire type which gains the weakness of Rock and Water types and would normally have a Ground weakness like it's original Electric type but because of its Levitate ability, it's able to ignore that Ground weakness once more." Jacq continues enthusiastically.
"So how will I tell if My Pokemon have the Tera type naturally?" Ash asks.
"The only way to tell is via Terastalization but naturally, most Pokemon have their Tera the same type as their regular primary typing. However, there have been cases where a wild Pokemon not only has a random Tera type, but they're able to Terastalize on their own without help and there's dens where wild Pokemon lie with random types. So, if you're Terastalizing, you'll be able to tell what your Pokemon's Tera type is because of the crystal upon their heads. Just hold out the stone and when it glows, throw it towards your Pokemon and they'll transform but you want to wait until it's the perfect time to Terastalize as that's when you'll get your opening." Jacq concludes.
People nearby start to gather to watch the fight including the orange and black-haired girl from before watching from distance, Arven and Penny also watching from a distance and a woman with tanned skin and very long black and blue hair watching from a cafe wearing sunglasses.
So, wait until there's an opening? Got it! Ash thought as Pikachu got onto the battlefield with Nemona's Pawmi following suit.
"Not using your Champion mons?" Nemona said confidently.
"You're looking right at him! Plus, I always start fresh in every region I go to." Ash said with confidence.
"This should be interesting!" Nemona said with a smirk.
"Are you ready?" Clavell asks to which both challengers nod. "Good, let the battle begin!"
"Alright Pikachu/Pawmi use Quick Attack!" Both trainers say as the two Pokemon rush at each other with blazing speed and clash with each other and step back. The two Pokemon are huffing and have a look of excitement in their eyes.
"Pawmi use Quick Attack to surround Pikachu to confuse it!" Nemona said.
"Paw!" Pawmi said as he began to run around very fast with blazing speed, but it didn't seem to faze Pikachu one bit.
"Pikachu use Iron tail on the ground!" Ash said as Pikachu began to turn his tail into Metal and jumps to use his tail on the ground in front of him, the ground had a noticeable dent.
"Quick Pawmi jump!" Nemona called out but it was too late as Pawmi tripped over the dent leaving an opening for the yellow mouse.
Ash smirks and calls out, "Pikachu use Electro Web!" To which Pikachu creates some electricity on its tail and jump flips to send it towards Pawmi who is trapped under an electrified web. Nemona starts to get anxious but quickly gets back in control.
"Pawmi Dig!" She said to which the Pokemon starts to dig into the ground.
"Try to guess where he is! Pawmi has always been unpredictable when it comes to digging, you'll never know where he'll strike from." Nemona says confidently.
"Pikachu be on your guard!" "Pika" they waited until a hole appeared in front of Pikachu, "Pikachu Iron Tail!" Ash says as Pikachu began to metallicize his tail once more and prepared to attack only for nothing to appear.
"Huh!" Ash said when suddenly, Pawmi appeared behind Pikachu and launched his fist towards Pikachu sending him forward taking a lot of damage.
"Pikachu!" Ash yelled out to his partner to which he got back up ready to fight. "You shouldn't attack so quickly champion, my Pawmi likes to create holes all the time so much, so he likes to fool me often haha. Dig again!" Nemona said confidently as Pawmi began to dig.
Likes to dig around, huh? Bingo Ash thought before an idea click into his head. "Pikachu! Create an Electro Web and hold on to it!" "Pika!" He said as he followed his trainer's command and created an Electro Web just before a hole starts to appear.
"Pikachu! Now-"
"Falling for the same mistake?" Nemona said with her confidence in tack.
"Jump" Ash finished which surprised Nemona as her Pawmi starts to dig up and appear from the ground.
"Wait! go back!" Nemona tried to yell but it was too late.
"Pikachu launch it!" Ash said as Pikachu launched his Electro Web to where Pawmi was at causing it to be shocked.
Subverting an attack by tricking the opposing trainer, how much expierence does he have? Clavell thought as Pikachu came back down.
"Now Quick Attack!" Ash yelled out as Pikachu began to run and strike Pawmi sending him flying. "Nice one buddy!" Ash said as Pikachu jumped up to high five him.
"I guess it's do or die right Pawmi?" Nemona asks her partner,
"Paw!"
Nemona grabs something from her pocket which looked to be a Tera Stone which appeared to get everyone's attention. "Well, Pawmi, you ready to shake things up a bit?" "Paw!" And with that the stone started to glow with yellow energy with more energy coming off of Pawmi, Nemona throws the stone at Pawmi who starts to crystalize with the Tera energy which leaves Ash and Pikachu impressed. The crystals start to disappear off of Pawmi which shows Pawmi having a light bulb crystal on its head which starts to spark.
So, this is Terastalization? Ash thought to himself. Nemona begins to smirk once more with fire in her eyes, "This is our Paldean specialty, Terastalization! And I'll give you a taste of what we can do, Pawmi use Thunder Shock!" she commanded as Pawmi begin charging up electricity from it's cheeks which also charges up the light bulb and eventually releases it from it's paws.
"Quick Pikachu, dodge it!" Ash commmanded but it was too late as Pikachu was hit by that powered up Thunder Shock sending it back a bit. "That Thunder Shock is more powerful than normal!" Ash said shocked.
"Surprised, when Terastalized into a certain type with that particular move, the crystal on its head will start to light up and power up that move and as you saw right there, Pawmi's light bulb lit up to power up that Thunder Shock. Which can make something that wouldn't leave a dent like Thunder Shock into a force to be reckoned with!" Nemona said with more confidence.
Ash stood there for a moment concerned but didn't let that get to him as he began to smirk and grab the Tera Stone from his pocket and looked at his partner, "Pikachu, let's do the same thing she did. Ready!" "Pika!" The stone began to glow with immense light with similar electrical energy similar to Pawmi and Ash throws the Tera stone at Pikachu who begins to glow with crystal energy before the crystals eventually reveal a light bulb crystal on Pikachu's head which begins to glow with electricity.
Nemona begins to smirk once more and reaches out her hand, "Pawmi use Thunder Shock!" Nemona said as her Pokemon begins charging up once more and releases the Thunder Shock from its paws.
"Pikachu Electro Web let's go!" Ash yells out which causes Pikachu's bulb to glow and creates the Electro Web from its tail and launches it from it's tail towards the Thunder Shock which causes a smoke cloud to appear. This blindsides Nemona as she couldn't see anything out of the smoke.
"Quick Pawmi, use dig to escape the smoke! Nemona yelled out to which the small Pawmi began to dig to escape danger but all that did was made Ash do was smirk and the smoke clears.
"Pikachu jump up in the air now!" Ash yelled out with Pikachu following his command to jump high in the air.
"Oh no you don't, Pawmi quickly dig up and jump in the air to attack before he can use Electro Web!" Nemona commanded to which Pawmi appeared from the hole and jumped to attack Pikachu.
"Pikachu use Iron Tail!"
"Wha-"
Nemona didn't finish her sentence as Pikachu used its Iron Tail against Pawmi to send it flying to the ground with enough force, but Pawmi wasn't about to give up as Pawmi (while injured) struggles to give up.
"Paw!" Pawmi yells out with determination which gets Nemona (though shocked) back to focus despite being worried. "You're right Pawmi, let's get back to the flow and use Thunder Shock!" She said which causes Pawmi to charge up and release its Thunder Shock towards Pikachu.
"Pikachu use ThunderBolt!" Ash yells out which causes both the light bulb and Pikachu to charge up and release the large electricity that was powerful enough to light up the sky making everyone in the crowd stoked. The bolt clashes with the Thunder Shock and although a tough struggle, the bolt wins as it's launched towards Pawmi who's bracing for impact and eventually, it lands. Smoke is created and Pikachu is huffing but when the smoke clears, the Pawmi is seen with swirls in its eyes indicating that it's KO'D.
Clavell rushes over to make sure it's defeated and eventually nods leaving Nemona in shock (pun not intended).
"Pawmi is unable to battle! Ash wins the match." Clavell yells out which causes Ash and Pikachu to be excited and hug before Pikachu eventually gets on his shoulders. The crowd claps with the blue and black-haired woman smiling at both Ash and Nemona and causes her two take notes on her notepad, Penny s visibly happy towards Ash while Arven has a more stoic look and the girl with orange and black hair begins to smirk before walking away while her brother is secretly fanboying.
Nemona falls to the ground defeated and even starts to shake a bit with tears coming out of her eyes, Pawmi notices this and goes to comfort his trainer. "Paw?" "Oh Pawmi, it's not your fault. come here." Nemona says hugging Pawmi, Ash notices this and walks up to her holding out his hand.
"Say Nemona that was a great battle, thank you." Ash said which made Nemona shocked about this and even smile a bit through the tears.
"You're not going to gloat or anything Champion?" Nemona said with her tears still there which surprised Ash a bit.
"Gloat? I'm a person who enjoys a good battle especially with others and you were very happy when you battled me, so I want you to enjoy it too!" Ash said excitedly which causes Nemona to be happy once more and take Ash's hand to get up.
"Thanks champion." Nemona said shaking Ash's hand.
"The name's Ash Ketchum." Ash corrects Nemona.
"Nemona" she replies. Pikachu reaches out to Pawmi to shake Pawmi's hand and they both do so.
Clavell and the group are looking at them from a distance happy.
"Your kid's got a kind heart Delia."
"And that's how my little boy is, a kid who loves to battle but has a good heart." Delia says.
And so, Ash's first day in Paldea was certainly eventful with Ash meeting some new folks, new Pokemon and a new battle loving partner and there's more to come in the future when the journey continues.
Omake:
After Arven, Penny, and the Team Star grunts met Ash, they all began to ponder on about something to themselves of where they heard that name Ash before which causes them to start having a realization moment after pondering upon it.
Penny (flustered): "Wait the Ash Ketchum! The champion of Alola and the World Champion of the world here in Paldea! My dad is a massive Champion Otaku and is flipping out about Ash, if he were to go to Cortondo, my dad will definitely faint, and he helped me against those grunts. I don't know if I should faint or follow him around, I guess I can do a coin toss.
Team Star (Worried): "The champion Ash, we're doomed I tell you, doomed!"
Arven: "My mom wants to analyze his Pikachu to see why it's so powerful. Maybe it's genes? Maybe it's a long-lost Pikachu that was a legendary at one point in it's life? Or maybe I'm just overreacting and I'm just getting excited over a champion, maybe I can kidnap him to help me with a 'research' project I'm planning... Then my life would be ruined."
That was a long chapter but one that I hope you enjoy. I have to make things clear and say that I'm not good with battle descriptions so if they feel lackluster, I apologize. The next chapter will have Ash continue his first day with the group with Nemona tagging along when they come across a small duck Pokemon named Quaxly who leads a band of misfits and seems to hide a sad past as Ash tries to bond with it. Meanwhile, Team Rocket has arrived for 'vacation' from Giovanni but work never rests for TR as they begin to find Ash and Pikachu to take Pikachu away.

Goal: No full goals so far but wants to defeat a champion for a 'Champion' rank.
