Ace Kingdom World Info
Ace Kingdom History Summary:
Many Grand Magic Zones surround the Ace Kingdom and the Kingdom has a natural magic barrier that keeps people without Ace Kingdom blood out. Since the Kingdom is surrounded by dense zones of mana, it is dangerous to try to get through the borders of the Ace Kingdom.
The Ace Kingdom has a Ruler that governs the Kingdom as a whole overall, but the kingdom itself is split into four separate Courts, the Solar, Lunar, and Celestial Courts, and the Royal Court which is where the royal family resides. The three other Courts are mostly self-sufficient and self-governed, lower political issues, events, and crimes are seen in their own Courts, but the larger, kingdom-impacting events are overseen by the Royal Court. The Lunar, Solar, and Celestial Courts are ruled by the High Noble families who answer in turn to the Royal Court.
For the past century, the Hyberion Kingdom from across the sea has been trying to invade the Ace Kingdom but has been held back by the mages of the Ace Kingdom, and the magical barrier that surrounds the Kingdom. The closest time the Hyberion Kingdom got close to invading the Ace Kingdom was twelve years ago, which is when the Previous Queen, Jannah died protecting the Kingdom and her husband, King Celino became Regent since their daughter was only six at the time.
Celino was a bad King, easily manipulated, and many people took advantage of his more simple nature. The Ace Kingdom almost fell under his regency, and many corrupt nobles came into power during his Rule. The only reason the Ace Kingdom didn't fall was because the Hyberion Kingdom pulled back their attacks, the last battle decimating their troops for a time. Once his daughter Inara became Queen, she tried to undo much of what he did, though she was having trouble, with the nobility, with the bonus of the Hyberion Kingdom trying to invade full force again.
Courts of the Ace Kingdom:
The Royal Court:
This Court is in the very center of the Ace Kingdom, it is where the King/Queen resides and where the Royal Citadel is. The current Queen is *Inara Dragomirnova-Ace, a seventeen-year-old mage who uses Aether Magic. She became Queen when she was fifteen, right after she got her grimoire. She pushed her father out due to his bad rule and he is currently under house arrest. She is a good Queen who is trying to make up for her father's bad decisions and trying to root out the corruption that took hold under Celino's rule. The people who work under her adore her.
The Solar Court:
The High family that rules over the Solar Court is the *de'Sauveterre* family. The High family of the court specializes in Sun and Solar Magic, the current head of the House is *Kiran de'Sauveterre*. She is more a scholar of medicine than a warrior. This court has always dealt with some level of corruption and backstabbing; the de'Sauveterre family suffered from various betrayals. Despite all the betrayals, they are still the most accepting of the courts. This is also the court where the current Clover Queen, Celande Novalic Kira-Clover is from. The High Noble family is also known as the patchwork family due to all the adopted siblings.
The Celestial Court:
This is the Court that Valance is originally from and the Court that pushed for her exile. The High family that rules over the Celestial Court is the *d'Chevalier*Family. The High family of this court specializes in Celestial and Star types of Magic. The head of the family is *Meliora Bouverie-d'Chevalier, a woman who married into the family, but acts like she is a true-blooded d'Chevalier woman. She is a cruel, power-grabbing woman who will do anything to hold onto her power. They are the harshest family when it comes to rules and laws, mostly to protect their own power, but the younger generation is all right and likes Inara's rule so far.
The Invasion (Twelve Years Ago):
The Great Invasion of Hyberion Kingdom onto Ace Kingdom soil happened twelve years ago. The battle itself was devastating, Hyberion invaded through the shores of the Celestial Courts and forced their way through.
The Hyberion Kingdom's advance was stopped when they were in a clearing, two towns away from the border of the Royal and Celestial Courts, they were stopped by the full force of the Ace Kingdom Military with Queen Jannah Dragomirnova-Ace and High Lady Seren Revant-d'Chevalier of the Celestial Court leading the charge, a wall of two hundred Paladins behind them. Behind the Paladins were the rest of the soldiers from the individual Courts, gathered together to fight for their Kingdom.
The battle itself was bloody and savage, with hundreds of casualties on both sides. The battle lasted for days until the Hyberion Kingdom was eventually forced to retreat. The Ace Kingdom won the battle but at a steep cost.
Queen Jannah and High Lady Seren both died in battle, as did Jannah's heir, her son Eden, leaving Jannah's husband Celino to reign as Regent until their infant daughter Inara Dragomirnova-Ace was of age to be Queen.
A majority of the Paladins also perished, their numbers which had been in the two hundred being reduced to a mere sixty. Their numbers were reduced so heavily because they acted as the shield for regular soldiers and civilians who could not escape the battle, giving their lives so that others may live.
After the battle, King Consort Celino Maykov Dragomirnova-Ace became Regent until his daughter could take the throne. All four Courts were devasted by loss and betrayal by one of their own.
A few months after the battle, Valance was exiled by the Celestial Court to hunt down the traitor who had been her own twin, Valette d'Chevalier.
The Paladins:
The Paladins are an Elite unit of mages who are soldiers in the Ace Kingdom Military. They are the strongest, most skilled, and brightest mages in the military. They answer directly to the current Ruler of the Ace Kingdom and reside in the Citadel along with the Ruler.
The Paladins have all made a vow to protect the Ace Kingdom and the people in it no matter what, even if their own lives are taken. Many of them would gladly give up their own lives if it meant others could survive. They take on the riskiest missions and are the first line of defense if a war were to take place.
When they were first formed, the Paladins were made only of Nobles from Noble Houses, but their numbers stayed small because not all Nobles wanted to join, the invitation to join was extended to commoners as well.
The number of Paladins numbered two hundred until they invasion twelve years ago. After the invasion, only sixty Paladins remained since they protected the normal soldiers and civilians.
During Celino's reign, the numbers stayed low because no one liked how he ruled the Ace Kingdom, the majority of the new members quickly taking advantage of their position, with only a few upholding the standard of what a Paladin once was.
When Inara became Queen, she quickly kicked out any corrupt Paladin, and slowly but surely, the number of Paladins is once again growing. Currently, as of Inara's reign, there are around ninety Paladins.
The Founding of the Citadel:
The Citadel was built five hundred years ago by the Queen of the Ace Kingdom at the time, Queen Inanna Dragomirnova-Ace.
The Queen had felt like there needed to be a better-fortified castle in the Kingdom and looked all over the borders of the Ace Kingdom to find a good place for the Citadel before finally settling on top of a mountain in the center of the Royal Court, it seemed like the perfect place for the Citadel.
The place where the Citadel was built was high, in the center of a mountain. It would be hard for anyone to get to the Citadel by natural means, and enemies would be easy to see if they were to come from the sky. The Citadel was also built in the center of a lush forest that had natural resources.
It took ten years for the large Citadel to be built. The Citadel was made with thick, gray-white stone walls and was three stories. While it is large and has some lavish touches, the Citadel itself is rather modest, and self-sufficient, being able to grow its own vegetables and able to house multiple mages.
When the Citadel was first built, it was supposed to be used as the last defense of the Ace Kingdom, the last Fortress if the Kingdom were to ever be invaded by enemies.
Nowadays, it is the main residence of the Queen and her Paladins, the gem of the Royal Court.
The exact location of the Citadel is unknown to most citizens, even nobles. The Citadel is well hidden within the Royal Court, and there is a magical barrier hiding it from unwanted guests and enemies alike.
To get to the Citadel, one has to be an active member of the Paladins to pass through the barrier if they travel to the Citadel on foot. Another way to get to the Citadel is by portals created by Spatial magic. However, you have to be invited in first.
History of the Paladins:
The Paladins are a group of elite soldiers who work directly under the Ruler of the Ace Kingdom. The group was founded three hundred years ago by King Kennan Dragomirnova-Ace. He thought the Ace Kingdom needed a more elite force, so formed the Paladins.
When Inara Dragomirnova-Ace became Queen, she helped the Paladins regain their honor and meaning, throwing out any corrupted mage. Even though it's only been two years, Inara is trying hard to gain more members for the Paladins.
She is also the one who created "Units" within the Paladins; instead of randomly grouping the mages each time they headed out to a mission, she made set Captains and grouped up mages who worked well together to constantly go on missions together, making them more efficient.
To Become a Paladin One Must:
1. Have been in the military for four or more years. This means they will have had to have four years of military experience OUTSIDE of the Paladins before joining at nineteen at the earliest.
2. Send in an application to be permitted in the Entrance Exams Three months before the Exams begin.
3. Send in a letter of recommendation from a respected individual, (Either a Noble or a highly respected figure in the community, not family). The letter must be sent in with the application to verify sources before the Exam begins.
4. Have never been in prison.
Note: Spots are open to both Nobles and Commoners
