Chapter 5
The War Ends
Link looked over at Sir Randof and said, "Sir Randof I want you to return to Hyrule Castle."
"But you may need my help Link."
"Please do what I ask Sir Randof."
"Are you sure that you can take care of Baris alone?"
"Yes."
"Very well. Good luck."
"Thanks." Sir Randof then returned to Hyrule Castle as instructed.
Once Sir Randof was gone Link said, "There! Now it's just you and me Baris!"
"As it should be!" Now, the true final battle of the Hyrulean Civil War is set to begin.
"Look, Baris I'm going to give you one final chance. Leave Hyrule and never return. For if you don't I will be forced to kill you, and I'd rather not have your death on my hands. Do you understand me?"
"Yes, perfectly."
"So, tell me. What is it that you've decided?"
"You've made a generous offer to spare my life Link, but I refuse to take it. I've worked too hard to just give up now. I still want Hyrule, and if I have to kill you to gain control of the kingdom well then so be it!" Saying this King Baris charged Link in an effort to kill him thus taking complete control of Hyrule.
Fortunately, Link was quick and nimble enough to dodge Baris's attack. King Baris rammed right into a tree and fell back. Once he got his bearings he turned around to face Link. "You should be very proud of how fast you are."
"Thanks, but your compliment won't save you."
"I don't care! I never expected to live through this conflict in the first place."
"How foolish can you be Baris? I'll give you one final opportunity to escape Hyrule with your life. So, what do you say? Do you accept this final offer?"
"NEVER!" Baris screamed at the top of his lungs as he rushed towards Link with his sword drawn.
"Baris you poor misguided fool! I gave you your last chance to stay alive and you squandered it! I pity you!"
"I don't need your pity! Now die!" Baris rushed Link at full speed.
"Very well. If you want a sword fight then that's what you shall have!" Link then rushed towards Baris.
Link and Baris converged on one another. Link said, "This is for the death of King Ardus you traitor!" Link thrust his sword as hard as he could in an upward motion at a slight angle which pushed the blade into Baris's heart.
Baris let out a loud cry of intense pain. He fell over, and promptly stopped moving. With the death of King Baris the bloody Hyrulean Civil War has at long last come to an end; with the South Hyruleans as the victors.
Link returned to Hyrule Castle where he was met by Sir Randof. "So, Link is Baris dead?"
"Yes."
"Does this mean that the war is finally over?"
"Yes."
"Well, then. I guess the next step is for us to search for a new leader."
"I guess so. Well, I'm going to return to Kokiri Forest. Bye Sir Randof."
"Bye, Link." Link then left for Kokiri Forest.
As link returned home Sir Randof as well as Impa, the other knights of Hyrule, and Princess Zelda began the long arduous task of deciding who should be crowned the new king of Hyrule.
