Chapter 6

The Search for a New Leader

Sir Randof began the meeting by saying, "So whom shall we pick to rule the land?"

Sir Noram said, "What about Impa?"

Sir Carilius said, "What do you say Impa?"

"No, thank you. I'd prefer to remain the Kakariko Village leader."

"I understand." Sir Randof dismayingly replied.

Impa said, "If we were to follow the Hyrulean custom of succession the next person in line to rule Hyrule is Princess Zelda. I say we go with her."

"No." Zelda abruptly replied. Everyone gasped.

"Why not my dear child?" Impa asked.

"Because I've got a confession to make."

"What?"

"I love Link, and I want to marry him. We've talked about it at length and we decided that we would like to get married soon. Because as you know Hyrulean custom also dictates that any Hyrulean has the right to marry their respective sweetheart at the age of 10."

"Yes I know."

"Well, I figured that if I was to marry Link now he could be crowned King thereby making me Queen."

Impa said, "Ah, I understand. Very well, get a message to Link."

Sir Randof set off at once for Kokiri Forest. When he arrived he went to Link's house. He said, "Link!"

Link came out of his house and said, "Yes, what do you want Sir Randof?"

"Do you recall talking to Zelda about marriage?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because she wishes to marry you now."

"Why?"

"I'll explain after the ceremony."

"Ok." Link went to Hyrule Castle accompanied by Sir Randof.

When they arrived the wedding began. It was presided over by Sir Randof. He said, "We are gathered here on this most glorious day to unite Princess Zelda and Link in marriage. May the young love shown by these two young people be blessed by the Goddesses. Link do you take Zelda to be your wife?"

"I do."

"And Zelda do you take Link to be your husband?"

"I do."

"Then by the power vested in me by King Ardus I pronounce you husband and wife. Link you may seal your everlasting love for Zelda with a kiss." Link and Zelda kissed each other on the lips cementing their undying love for each other. Sir Randof went on, "May the Goddesses watch over and bless your marriage with longevity and children. The wedding ceremony has concluded."

Once Link and Zelda were married they retired to Zelda's room. He looked at her with loving eyes and asked, "So, where will we live Zelda?"

"At the castle."

"Who's going to be the new king?"

Sir Randof, who had just entered the room as Link had asked this question, looked at him and said, "You are."
