Chapter 6: A proposal 17 years in the making

A few days later, a week before they were to return to California, Tommy and Polly went over to Sparkyworld, the very place where they properly met each other.

"Polly. Do you remember the day we first met?" Asked Tommy.

"I first saw you when this place opened for Sparkyville's centenary." said Polly.

"Ah yes. But it was here, for Sparkyville's centenary, we met properly." Said Tommy. "Your beauty, your kindness…."

"I remember." Said Polly.

The two went on all the different rides until the sun was just about to go down. Tommy and Polly left the amusement park, but not without Tommy admitting something.

"Polly. Of all the things that would get us back together, I never thought it would be Emerald's death." Said Tommy. "But the problem is, you're in Los Angeles, while I'm in San Diego."

"So what are you saying?" Asked Polly.

"I don't want to be in a long distance relationship. I want to be with you for the rest of my life." Said Tommy.

"Tommy, what do you have in mind?" asked Polly.

"Polly. Are you willing to move into San Diego with me?"
Polly was amazed.

"Yes I will!" said Polly.

And both Tommy and Polly hugged each other.

"But first, I need to consult my employers." said Polly. "But when I go back to Los Angeles."
"Good thinking, Polly." said Tommy.

Meanwhile, Shermy and Violet were walking along the baseball field. This was one of the places they would hang out a lot, especially when they were on Charlie Brown's baseball team.

"Remember this place, Vi?" asked Shermy.

"I sure do." said Violet. "Shermykins, I really yearn for those days."
"Really? In spite of all the losses we endured?" asked Shermy.

"Yes." said Violet.
"Can't argue there." said Shermy. "Violet, ever since you moved to Los Angeles, it got me thinking."
"Yes?"
"I don't want a long distance relationship." said Shermy. "Emerald's death got me thinking that life is too short. Even when you became a mean girl, I still thought you were the most beautiful girl in the world. Now, you're more gorgeous than ever."
"Oh, thank you." said Violet.

"Violet. I have one more question to ask you." Shermy added.

Shermy put his hand in a pocket, rummaging for something.

"Good grief, are you about to ask what I think you're gonna ask me?!" Violet asked excitedly.

"I believe so." said Shermy as he pulled out a purple box, got down on his left knee, and opened it, revealing a amethyst ring.

"Violet. Will you marry me?" asked Shermy.

Violet wasted no time answering Shermy's question.

"Yes I will!"

Shermy placed the ring on Violet's finger, and they both embraced, and kissed. Who would've thought Emerald's death could get them back together?
