Chapter 8: Wedding Bells for Beethoven's fans
Sparkyville Family Church, 3:00 PM, August 21.
August 21 that year, everyone was attending a church. Charlie Brown was still yet to propose to Heather. Linus had already asked for Janice's hand in marriage, to which she happily said yes, shortly after Shermy proposed to Violet. Rerun was there too with Katie Halverson, Tommy with Polly, Pig-Pen with Patty Swanson, Marcie with Franklin, Spearmint Sammy with Heather Giles, who'd married exactly a month after Emerald's funeral, Marty with Frieda, Peppermint Patty with Roy, Shermy with Violet, Scarlet Harper, Forest with Mimi, Eudora, Lila, Eugene with Lydia and a now 7-month-old Lime.
But this was the wedding for Schroeder Klein and Mary Stewart. Mary was dressed in a cream coloured wedding gown with her hair in a high ponytail, while Schroeder was dressed in a dark purple tux and a red bow tie.
"I've longed for this ever since Beethoven's birthday while were were in middle school. My dream girl becoming my spouse today!" Schroeder said.
"I can't wait to become Mary Klein!" Mary Stewart said to herself. "Hopefully, after we wed, I'll become a mommy!"
As Schroeder and Mary Stewart walked to the altar, there, waiting for them, was Mary's mother Miriam.
"Schroeder, Michael and I knew you and Polly were meant to be together. Please, Thomas. Take care of my baby."
"I will, Miriam." Said Schroeder.
After saying some words, the pastor turned to Schroeder.
"Do you, Schroeder Klein, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." Said Schroeder happily.
Then, the pastor turned to Mary.
"Do you, Mary Stewart, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do." Mary said.
"From the powers of Schulz," said the pastor. "I now pronounce you Mr. And Mrs. Schroeder Klein. You may now kiss each other!"
And the two kissed each other, causing everyone to cheer.
"You go, Schroeder!" Said Lucy, letting out a tear from her eye.
After the wedding, everyone went to Sparkyville Birds Club to grab themselves something to eat. But before they could, Anya had noticed her ex-husband Riley from a distance.
"Sorry, Anya." said Riley. "I heard about my granddaughter and wanted to get a better view of her."
"That's alright." said Anya. "She is pretty cute, isn't she?"
"She sure is." said Riley.
But where did Riley go after his divorce? Riley had already moved to Batemans Bay, about 2 hours south-east from Canberra and 3 and a half hours south from Sydney, with his brother Joel. He was doing a seafood job.
Now, happily married, Mary Klein was ready to throw the bouquet.
"Come on, Charlie Brown!" called Heather. My bestie's about to throw her bouquet!"
Charlie Brown got up, and was ready to catch the bouquet. At last, he grabbed it, and showed the bouquet to Heather.
"These are for you." said Charlie Brown. "For my one and only Little Red-Haired Lady."
"Oh, you're so sweet, Charlie Brown!" said Heather as she took the bouquet off of him. "These flowers are lovely, especially when thrown by my bestie!"
Heather turned to Mary Stewart.
"Charlie Brown caught the bouquet for me!"
Mary Klein looked at her bestie and waved to her.
"Enjoy your honeymoon!" shouted Linus.
Schroeder and Mary Stewart hopped into their wedding car and drove off for their honeymoon.
"That could've been me as the bride." Lucy said sadly. "If only I hadn't pestered Schroeder all the time when we were kids…"
