Chapter 4

Why did I let Linh pressure me into coming here? This is so boring.

Maybe I should've danced with Marella, the evil side of my brain replied.

And let her think I like her? No way!

It might have added some excitement into your life.

Well, I don't want Biana getting mixed signals either.

True, true.

Though, I probably didn't need to worry about that if she was dating Dex. Which she most definitely was.

Maybe I should've danced with Marella.

But if Biana and Dex weren't actually dating, then I would've had a problem. Speaking of Biana…

She stood in front of me, spinning a gold bracelet around her arm.

"Hi," she said nervously, chewing her lip.

My heart skipped a beat. "Hi."

"So… How are you liking prom?" She began fidgeting with the hem of her dress.

"Meh. It's okay." I tried and failed to sound casual. "Why'd you come over here?"

"Are you with Marella?" she blurted.

"Me? No!" My face reddened. "Why would you think that?"

Wait a second. Did that mean she liked me?

"Are you with Dex?" I asked, needing to clarify.

"No! We just went as friends." Biana blushed.

As she said that, I saw Dex passing by, seemingly hearing what she said. His eyes widened.

I had no idea what to say next.

"What do you mean?" Dex asked, giving a nervous laugh, "We- we went as a date!"

"I thought we were going as friends?" said Biana, who looked confused.

"There are rumors going around that you guys are dating," I said quietly and probably very unhelpfully.

Biana looked shocked and betrayed. "What!? Dex, I-"

Dex rubbed his eyes, cutting her off "Sorry Biana, I- I have to go." He rushed away before either of us could say anything else.
