I know, I know, I am TOO late. Really sorry for that. Life happened. But hey, good coincidence that CID has also returned! I stumbled upon this story last night and realised I had left myself on a cliffhanger as well. So here goes the next chapter, enjoy!
"What the hell is happening Daya? Chordho muje!"
This voice is followed by Arnav getting forcefully accompanied into the CID office by Daya and Abhijeet.
The whole atmosphere is tense, everyone is quietly standing around, Purvi being the gravest of them all. Arnav makes a hopeful eye contact with Purvi.
Arnav: Yaar Purvi ye koi prank hai kya? Meri toh haalat hi kharab hogayi(laughs)
Arnav's expression changes as Purvi simply breaks eye contact.
Arnav: Purvi…baat kya h?
ACP Pradyuman(approaching him): Baat toh badi sharmnaak hai. Yakeen nahi aata, ki tum sach mai aisi harkat karsakte ho, lekin sahi kehte h logh, bina aag ke dhuwaan nahi uth ta.
Arnav is agitated by now. What was wrong with these people?
Arnav(smugly): Kyu ACP Sir? Iss baar bhi kisi drug deal ka fake culprit toh nahi samajh lia muje?
At this moment, Daya swiftly steps forward and grabs him by the collar. Purvi winces but remains staunch.
Daya: Kya samajhrahe h aur kya nahi, woh abhi pata chal jayega tumhe.
Daya signals to Shreya and she nods slowly. After a moment, Sanjina limps into the room with Shreya by her side.
The colour of Arnav's face visibly changes. He looks at her and then Purvi in utter confusion and shock.
Arnav: Sanjina, tum yahan? What are you upto NOW?
Daya: Awaaz neeche, hero. Isko yahan dekh ke shock lagraha hai na? Socha tha ki tum isko dara dhamka ke istemal karte rahoge aur kisi ko kuch pata nahi chalega? Tumhare bheje hue gunde pakde gaye, aur Sanjina ne hume sab batadia h. Chalo ab tum bhi sharafat se apna muh kholo aur sab detail mai batao.
Arnav went silent. He kept looking at Purvi, whose face didn't betray any emotion.
Arnav: Sir, mai abhi cheekhta chilata, khudko innocent batadeta, lekin mai jaanta tak nahi hoon ki iss baar iss Sanjina ne konsi nayi kahani khadi karli h. Tum mera peecha kyu nai chordhti haan? Muje sukoon se jeene nahi dogi kya! Itne mahinoon se mera jeena haraam karke rakh dia h tumne! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE.
Sanjina started shivering and slightly hid behind Purvi.
Purvi: Arnav, tum saare officers ke saamne ek victim pe chilarahe ho. Chup hojao.
Arnav went silent. His eyes revealed that he wasn't the same anymore. He looked tired suddenly, as if he didn't have the energy to even defend himself.
Purvi continued: Arnav, Sanjina ne tum pe rape, blackmail aur kidnapping ka ilzaam lagaya h, aur isko back karne ke liye uske paas evidence bhi maujood hai.
Arnav was completely shook. He kept looking at Sanjina and then Purvi, not understanding how she could even believe such a thing about him.
Arnav: Rape aur blackmail? Mai? Kya bakwaas kar rahe ho tum sab. Ye Sanjina bohot khatarnak aurat hai ye toh muje pata tha par aaj toh isne hadh kardi. Bas bohot hua, mai koi airah gairah nahi hoon joh in ilzaamon se dar jaaye(he steps forward facing Purvi), mai Arnav Raizada hoon. Aaj tumne bhi hadh kardi Purvi. Tumne iss aurat pe bharosa karke hamare rishte ka mazaak bana dia. Par koi nahi, if this is how you want to play, I will not step back.
He turns around to face the whole team and says: Mai pichli baar ki tarah unprepared toh nahi hoon. I am all lawyered up, kya pata kab kon peech mai chura bhonk de(he looks at Purvi). Aapko joh report file karni h aap kar dijiye. Mai itni aasani se andar nahi jaane wala.
He walks past Purvi and sits comfortably in a chair, his eyes hiding a cool rage and his fists closed so hard it hurt.
A few hours later
Daya and Abhijeet are circling around the table, on which ACP is sitting.
Abhijeet: Sir ye Arnav toh na toota aur na uske lawyers ne usse yahan zyada der rehne dia. Hume uske khilaaf banake court se warrant laana padega tab jaake kuch baat banegi sir.
ACP: Abhijeet, uske paas paisa, power aur ab ek kism ki sanak bhi hai. Woh itni aasani se haar nahi maanega. Khair, tumne Sanjina ko kahan rakhwaya h filhaal?
Abhijeet: Sir Pankaj se kehdia hai ki uske liye ek safe house ka bandobast kare. Aur kuch din khud bhi wahin rahe. Humne kuch police officers ko keh dia hota lekin Arnav ke paise ki power na jaane kis kis ko khareed le.
ACP nods.
Purvi and Shreya walk slowly outside the Bureau. No one speaks a word, until Shreya finally breaks the silence.
Shreya: Purvi, kya chalraha h tere dimag mai?
Purvi doesn't answer. She keeps walking.
Shreya: Purvi bata na. Kuch toh bol.
Purvi keeps walking in a daze, and pulls her gun out right on her own chin.
Shreya leaps and fights the gun out of her grab.
Shreya: PAGAL HO GAYI HAI KYA?
She shakes Purvi vigorously to bring her out of her state. Purvi just looks at her and breaks down.
Sobs and wails fill the empty parking lot while Purvi keeps saying some incoherent statements. Shreya, having never seen her best friend like this, finds it hard to control her own emotions. She somehow manages to grab her and drives her away to her own home.
THE SAFE HOUSE
"Sab set kardia h aapke liye. Aap aaram se yahan rahiye. Aapko yahan kuch nahi hoga, meri training badi khatarnak hai!", Pankaj says to Sanjina, trying to lighten her spirits.
Sanjina smiles. For a split second, Pankaj notices how beautiful she is behind all that sorrow.
Sanjina: Thank you so much, Mr…?
Pankaj(drawing his hand out for a handshake): Pankaj.
Sanjina shakes his hand and lingers for just a moment in excess, and then lets it go.
Pankaj: Aapko kuch khaa lena chahye, it was a hard day for you. Aap dinner karke sojaye, hosakta h kal se aapke statements ki official recording ho.
Sanjina: Aap ne dinner kar lia?(she asks with a tired and innocent smile)
Pankaj: Nahi, abhi nahi. Aap chinta mat kijiye, mai karlunga. Muje toh waise bhi raat bhar jaagna hai.
Sanjina: Might as well eat together? Muje bhi thodiachi company miljayegi.
She smiles at Pankaj and he can't help but comply.
