Here is the next part of the episode. I hope you all enjoy it.

A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers Part Two:

(Phoebe's Point of View)

Tuastos carried us through the forests along the road until we found the creepy amusement park that Ares mentioned. 'Waterland', it said on the sign. It was closed as it was nighttime, but it was creepy. The machines were making scary noises, and we quivered, but not from the cold.

"I don't watch horror movies but this spells 'scary' to me," I said anxiously. "And somewhere you'd want to avoid,".

"Well, we're gonna have to go in there if we're gonna get that shield," Annabeth said. We dismounted our bear ride. "I've never watched any kind of movie. So, I'll have to take your word for it, Phoebe,".

"Never? As in never ever?" I asked.

"That's what she means," Jason explained. "And neither have I,".

"You guys are missing out on so much in the mortal world. If we're not dead in the next few days, I'll tell you what you should experience. Now let's get this over this so we go back to get Grover and Cody,". I pushed through a turnstile gate.

"Wait, Phoebe!" Annabeth shouted. It was too late. The moment I stepped through right under the gateway, we heard loud grinding from inside the machine above me. I looked up and saw sharp silver grinders. I began to panic.

Jason raised his hands. "Don't panic. Just stand very still,".

"As if I have any other choice," I retorted. "You guys know what this is?".

Annabeth peered closely up at the grinders. "That's Celestial bronze in the mechanism. It's what your sword is made of. If you're a human, it'll pass right through you. If you're a monster or a demi-god …,".

"It'll kill me. Just great," I muttered sarcastically.

"What's celestial bronze doing here in an amusement park?" Jason wondered.

"This is not just some amusement park Jason," Annabeth said seriously, keeping her eyes glued to the machine. "A god built this park,".

He was not impressed. "What kind of god builds amusement parks?".

There was only one god I knew who loved building things. "Hephaestus," I realised. "Why would the god of blacksmiths build amusement parks?".

"Maybe he finds them amusing?" Annabeth's choice of answer wasn't helping.

"Annabeth's, that's not helping," Jason criticised.

"And it's not funny,". I answered.

She giggled a little. "Come on it's a little funny,".

"That's not helping either," Jason berated her. "Now come on. How do we get Phoebe out of this?".

Annabeth analysed the mechanism parts carefully. "The workmanship is really cool,".

"Annabeth!" I yapped impatiently.

"Relax. I'm on it," she inhaled sharply. "I got it. Just push through it,".

"What?" I asked.

"Annabeth, I saw one of the fates cut a string," Jason reminded her. "How do we know this isn't it?".

"Just trust me guys," she begged. "Phoebe, just push through gently,".

I swallowed my fear and gently pushed past the turnstile again till I was on the other side. I was okay. I felt I could breathe. The machine clanged. It hadn't done anything like activate a trap or try to kill us. "What was that?" I asked.

"The machine isn't designed to hurt people. It's meant to scare away intruders. It was a test," Annabeth cleverly explained. "Now, let's go through Jason,".

Jason stepped through. He was okay. Then Annabeth stepped through. "You stay here Tuastos and keep watch," she spoke through the bars. But Tuastos roared stubbornly. She clearly didn't want to let us go off alone. She pushed her way through.

"Might as well let her tag along," Jason said. "Hopefully this device will scare anyone else away. and it looks totally abandoned. We'll be fine,". Our exploration of the creepy wonderland took us to cranky Ferris wheels, rollercoasters and all other sorts of rides.

"Tell me the god of craftsmen didn't invent these," Annabeth was awed by such machines. Having grown up away from the mortal world, she knew nothing about the joys of being a kid.

"What I don't get is why Ares would be here?" Jason wondered. "Aren't he and Hephaestus supposed to be enemies?".

"They are enemies," I explained. "They're enemies because Ares had an affair with …,".

"Hephaestus's wife Aphrodite," Jason and Annabeth finished together.

"Oh, you're kidding. He came here to visit her? In her husband's park?". I was surprised by such idiocy. "That's so dumb,".

"He got caught so he had to leave in a hurry, leaving his shield behind," Annabeth figured out correctly again.

"You never cease to amaze with your intelligence," I said admirably.

"If there's one thing Ares is right about, it's this," Jason said. This family really is a mess,". We continued to walk around, looking for any sign of a bronze shield with a boar on the front but still nothing.

"Looking for this shield is like looking for a needle in a haystack," Jason cursed.

"We'll find it," Annabeth said. "I just hope Grover and Cody are doing okay with Ares,". Right after she spoke we heard fairground music playing and the sounds of a machine powering up. We followed the source of the sound past some empty, abandoned stands and we saw a large ride building with the words "Thrill Ride of Love" in glowing letters of pink.

"This must be where Ares and Aphrodite got caught," Annabeth said. "So, the shield must be in there,".

(Jason's Point of View)

Suddenly Tuastos growled. "What is it, girl?" Jason asked. Low but loud audible noises echoed through the air. I saw a stand. "Give me a lift girl," Tuastos lifted me and I carefully stepped onto the stand so I could see more of the park from a higher level.

"What's up there?" Phoebe called.

"Be quiet," Annabeth hissed. I peered out. I didn't see anything but as I saw the entrance again, I saw the same man from the Arch and a group of mean-looking men. Quickly Tuastos lowered me down to the girls.

"What is Jason?" Phoebe asked.

"It's the same guys from the Arch," I answered. "The same man who wanted to kidnap me,".

"You gotta be kidding me," Annabeth cursed.

"Who is that man and what does he want from you?" Phoebe asked. "And how did he even get through the gate knowing it wasn't really a trap? He can't be human. Could he?".

"I don't know Phoebe," I answered grimly. "But whoever he was, he must be part of the mythical world. He saw us kill a Hydra monster after we got separated from you,".

As usual, Annabeth was quick to make a plan. "Tuastos and I will keep them at bay. You two go down the tunnel of love and find the shield,"

"No, I won't leave you," I took her hand.

"We'll never get the shield and complete our quest if these guys are here. If they find our traces here, they'll track us down that tunnel. I will be fine and I'll have Tuastos with me,".

The bear roared bravely vowing to protect her. There was no changing her mind.

"Take this at least," Phoebe offered my sword again.

She took it. "Thank you. You're a really good friend, Phoebe,".

"So are you, Annabeth. I'll never forget everything you've done for me,".

I was so glad these two girls I cared about so much were getting along so well. I embraced Annabeth. "Just come back to us okay," I cried a little. If anything happened to her on my behalf I would never forgive myself.

"I'll be alright Jase," Annabeth wiped one away. Tuastos lowered her neck down and she climbed her. "Take care of each other,".

"I promise we won't leave without you," Phoebe said earnestly.

Annabeth and Tuastos rode off whilst the pair of us climbed into one of the small boats. Instantly we started moving down the stream into a tunnel, lined with crackling light bulbs along the ceiling. But every second I couldn't stop thinking about Annabeth.

"Everything's going to be alright Jason," Phoebe clasped my shoulder. "Annabeth will always be steps ahead of them and she's got Tuastos to protect her,".

"I just wish I knew who that man was and why he's so desperate to capture me. He must know who I am and where I come from. Otherwise, why would he be here?".

The boat carried us across the dark water. Then music started playing and the lyrics of a pop love song rattled our eardrums. "What is happening?" I asked.

"I think I've heard this song before," Phoebe answered awkwardly. "Like on my mum's radio back in New York?".

Light rays of pink and red and rose flew along the ceiling, illuminating the tunnel a bit more. Then we saw black figures appear on the wall, telling a story.

"I know this,". Phoebe peered closer. "This is Hephaestus's story,". She was right. We watched images of a baby being thrown from a mountain, Mount Olympus. Then a fully grown man being constantly rejected by the women he courted. "Rejected by Hera. Rejected by Aphrodite. My mum told me these stories all the time. She said that …,". She paused.

"What?" I asked.

"She said that this is what the gods are like to each other. That this is the kind of family they are,".

"They really are a mess. But why didn't you want to say that just now?" I asked curiously.

"She was trying to keep me away from you guys. But now I can't help but think, what if she had prepared me better?".

"Maybe she was preparing you better," She looked at me. "So that when you got to us, you'd be different than this. You'd be better than this,".

The song concluded and the lights disappeared. And the boat's velocity started to increase. And we dropped. We screamed as we went shooting down a water slide, under stalagmites and lights. Splash!

(Phoebe's Point of View)

We were now floating in another part of the ride in a large room full of flowing water. I looked around and I saw a golden statue holding what we came here for. "There's Ares shield,".

"Phoebe, the boat isn't stopping," Jason was looking for head. I looked ahead too. We saw another tunnel up ahead and another wooden boat was being grinded up

"Jump!" I shouted. I leapt and splash! I was in the water. I hoped Jason was in the water too. But the water was flowing rapidly and it was getting difficult to fight the current. Luckily I managed to swim safely away but Jason wasn't so lucky. He was sucked down from the surface.

"Jason!" I dived underwater and saw the current dragging him away. I reached out my hand and instantly a powerful force of water pulled him towards me. we gasped for breath and I managed to pull him out of the water right onto the platform where the state was. I was dry but he was soaked through. He panted. "You okay?" I asked.

"you saved me," he coughed. "Your water magic … it's so powerful,".

"I guess it's all just coming to me," she offered a hand. I clasped it. And we stood up together. We looked right up at the statue's golden hands holding the shield. It was so high up out of reach.

"Are we supposed to get that thing down?" Jason asked. We looked again and we noticed there was an empty golden throne right in front of the statue's feet. "There's a reason that the throne is there. It must be a machine but how do you start it? How do you get the statue to give you the shield?".

I looked carefully at the golden chair. And then I remembered another story my mother told me as a child. "That throne was a gift with a hidden purpose. Hephaestus offered it to Hera when he was courting her. But the moment she sat in it she couldn't get up. And even Zeus couldn't get her to stand off it. It was too strong even for the other gods too. So, they offered Aphrodite in exchange so that Hephaestus would release Hera. The chair is the bargain. The only way to get that shield is if one of us sits in that chair,".

"I'll do it," I grabbed Jason.

"No. Wait a minute," I begged.

"Whoever goes in, isn't coming out,".

"That's why I said 'wait',".

"You are not doing what you did back at the Arch. It's you who has to complete this quest,".

"That it's you who has to complete this quest. Because, without you, everything we all strive for will be lost. You're the one who got us so far Jason,".

"But the Oracle chose you. The gods chose you,".

"You are better at all of this stuff than me. You fight better. You think better. You keep your friend safer than I ever could. You just are and I know it. I wish there was another way but we can't avoid what the Fates foretold. No matter how much we want to,". He cried a little. I clasped his shoulder. "I promised Luke and Chiron I would ensure your safety. And if sitting in that golden chair instead of you is the best way to ensure that, then so be it,".

He wanted to refuse but how could he give his life and hurt Luke and Chiron so much when he promised them he would return to them alive. And how could I let him sacrifice himself instead? I stepped up towards the throne ready to give my life. But then I remembered something. "Can I ask you something?".

"Don't worry. I won't leave the Underworld without your mother," he promised.

"Thank you," I said gratefully. "And thank you Jason for everything you've done for me,". I smiled a little to give him some encouragement to keep on going. No matter what. "And perhaps when you complete the quest, you could perhaps swing by and try and get me out of this thing?".

He sniffled. "You think you had to ask? I'd always come back for you. and you'd do the same thing for me,".

I cried a little. "I would. It's what you do for friends,". I didn't want him to see me cry anymore. I stepped up towards the throne and I turned around so I could see him. And I sat down on the smooth golden seat. I heard the grinding of the chair's mechanism. It felt warm. But then a cold feeling crawled over my skin. My legs turned gold. Then my clothes.

"Stand up Phoebe!" Jason begged.

"I can't,". It was too late to change my mind.

"Stand up. I mean it,". He begged in tears again.

"I'm okay. I'm okay. I'm …,"

(Jason's Point of View)

Phoebe was completely gold. I could not believe it. There was no life left in her anymore. The statue's hands dropped the shield. It landed with a clatter on the floor. I walked and saw the throne golden cogs. I was not going to leave Phoebe behind. If this was a machine, then it meant I could unwind it and bring her back. I knelt down and tried to rewind them. I couldn't get them to move.

"Can I help you?" spooked a voice. I looked up and saw on the higher level, a white-bearded being, wearing glasses and carrying a cane. I ignored him and tried again to rewind the cogs. "Do you need some help finding your way out?".

When I ignored him again, the sound of a harmonica echoed in my ears. A ladder rose out of the water and onto the level he was at. "Off you go now, little boy,".

"I'm not leaving without my friend,".

"It It's a one-way thing. She goes in and she's not coming back out. can't be undone,".

"How do you know?".

"Because I built it,". It was Hephaestus. I should have known,". I looked up and saw his irritated gaze behind his specs.

"I am not leaving here without my friend," I said stubbornly. "So, either leave me alone or help me get her out,".

"I know why you're here. And I will have you know touched child, that I am not someone to be pushed around or messed with. Something Ares clearly doesn't get,". Of course, he knew Ares had sent us to reclaim his shield. I stood up and faced him, keeping a firm eye on the shield. "We both know what Zeus thinks of you, Jason He thinks you're not meant to be amongst demi-gods because you're mortal. But if you walk out of here with that shield, you'll be on your way to your greatest glory. You can finally earn your place among demigods. It's what you've always wanted,".

I couldn't deny. My entire life I was bullied and shunned for not having a godly heritage. I would have done anything to prove to them how wrong they were about me. It was all that mattered. And this quest was the perfect way to do it. If I walked out of here, I would finally show Clarisse how wrong she was to torment me all these years. I would finally have the respect I had worked so hard to achieve. But that was it.

"Claim this victory and the gods will be proud of you. And all will go back to being as it was as it should be,".

"It isn't how it shouldn't be!" I defied him. "It isn't. Eat or be eaten. Power and glory and nothing else matter. Ares is that. Zeus is that way. Athena is that way. You are that way,". He absorbed my words. "Maybe I wanted to be that way once. But I don't want to be that way anymore. Phoebe is none of those things! She's better than that! She's the best of us! I would rather be like her! I will never be like any of you. I just won't. What good is glory if it's worth sacrificing friendship, love and loyalty? Those are the things that are more important to me, what is important to her,". Even if I felt so lonely growing up, I always had Chiron, Luke, Annabeth, Cody, Grover, Arthur and all the other people I called my friends. They were my honour and glory.

I watched Hephaestus as he drifted off into deep thought. I turned back to the throne, crying softly for Phoebe. The sounds of the harmonica rang in the air again. And the gears clanged. My heart jumped for joy. I stood in front of the throne again and saw Phoebe's eyes sparkling like the sea again. Her skin turned back from gold and so did her clothes. She stood up but tripped. I caught her, exhaling joyfully. And our eyes met.

"I'm okay," she breathed, relieved to be standing up and not sitting as a statue of gold. I cried for joy and so did she. "I'm okay,".

"Some of us don't like being that way either. You're a good kid, Jason." Hephaestus's praise made me shudder. But not from fear. He was the first god ever to speak about me like that. So far every other god I've encountered in my life has either tried to kill me or has mocked me. "You're a good kid as well, Phoebe Jackson. I'll put a good word in with your father," he looked again at me. "Poseidon was wise in blessing you. It seems he bound you both together for a specific purpose. Take the shield and complete your quest,".

"Thank you," Phoebe's gratitude made him smile a little. He turned around and stumbled back through the door from when he came, closing it behind him. She looked at me. "You persuaded him?".

"I guess I did. I gave him a long lecture how the things that are more important in life - the things you've shown us,". I picked up the shield. "Let's go find Annabeth,".

That's the next chapter done. What did you think of Jason and Phoebe's scene together? I would love to hear your opinions. And don't worry I haven't forgotten about the other stories. It's just really easy to get through the first series. I will be doing the second series as well when it comes out. Filming has stopped and it won't be too long until the next season comes out. Sounds really exciting. I'll make sure to work on another Encanto chapter and Dragon Prince chapter next week. See you all later in either this story or another one. See ya.
