"Jacob? Jacob? JACOB?!" a voice shouted.

"im sorry what?" Jacob asked as he looked towards the elders in front of him. Now he was sitting on the back porch, his father and aunts staring him. His aunt's Nora, Jennie, Connie, and Emmie were the tribal event planners and organizers.

Any wedding, birth, death, they were there backing up his father. They did the little things that a chief didn't have time for, they were also assistants to the chiefs wife and her role. However, that role had obviously been left vacant ever since his mothers death. No one could match up to the legacy his mother left behind. Well, Bella could but she would need to grow in her confidence first. He was quick to draw his attention back to his aunts.

"we were telling you about the ceremony on Friday! You will need to fast and spend time with old Quil and Quill sr. two days before the ceremony. Also, the pack will need to be fitted for the required garments…" his aunt Nora said.

"alright. I will remind them…" Jacob said with a false pleasantry.

"very well. I think we covered all the basics. Oh, and tomorrow you need to come to the council meeting. we have something particularly important to tell you. It is a requirement to proceed." His aunt said cryptically.

Jacob raised an eyebrow as his wolf growled internally. Something wasn't right. They were hiding something.

"hmm. Ok… I will be there."

His aunt was going to say something else when Jacob heard Bella's truck.

"excuse me." He said excitedly.

As he walked away, he could hear his aunts and father whispering. "William, that white girl wont be a problem for much longer, will she?"

"she's a friend of the family Nora, what's the issue" he heard his father defend.

"She's a distraction! That's the issue. Jacob is going to be chief and alpha and the last thing he needs is a white girl by his side. We need to quit stalling on the engagement and tell him! Its best that he cuts off all ties with someone he should not be with!"

Jacob froze.

Wait? What? Engagement! Cutting ties with Bella! Oh heck no. not going to happen. No wonder everyone kept looking at him weird.

They were going to try to marry him off? Over his dead body!

Taking some deep breaths, Jacob continued to Bella's truck. Ignoring the rage his wolf was emitting.

"jake! Were back! And we come bearing gifts!" Bella cheered. Jacob gave her the best smile he could but of course he failed. "what's wrong? What happened?"

"nothing honey. Just the elders being jerks." He said with clenched fist.

"hey Seth, how did it go?" Jacob asked as he looked at the normally happy teenager.

"… um… well, I actually need to talk to you… and Bella and Leah…"

Seth shifted from what foot to the other as Jacob and Bella stared at him.

Jacob was a good person and so was Bella and they didn't deserve what the council had in store for them. At the mall, he had managed to slip away from the guys with the excuse of having to go to the bathroom. But what he had really did was sneak away to check up on Bella and to his shock, had heard every word, she told her girlfriends.

Jacob had proposed to Bella? No wonder he had seemed so different. he had seemed so content and happier than normal and now it made sense.

The guilt ate at Seth even more than before.

He knew that the whole situation was unfair to everyone involved and he needed to tell them.

"what is it, Seth?" Bella questioned.

"I can't tell you here, but I really need for you and jake and Leah to come with me. Like now… we can take the rabbit" he pleaded.

"Alright, Seth, calm down, I will go get Leah and we will leave."

So that's how Seth found himself in the rabbit on an unknown road. Three people lives were counting on him in this very moment.

He had to tell the truth.

Leah stared at her brother in confusion. For the past couple of weeks, he had been acting strange. He would look at her and then quickly look away. As if he were hiding something and now here she was in the backseat of her soon to be alpha's rabbit, waiting on her questions to be answered.

"Alright, what's going on? We are in the middle nowhere…" she asked.

"Seth wanted to talk to us…" Jacob explained.

"well, can we at least do it outside?" she complained.

With everyone agreeing, Leah hopped out and slammed the door.

"careful lee!" Jacob grouched as he gingerly checked the door, she was almost crushed.

"oh whatever. Just tell us what we need to know. Or does it have something to do with protecting leech lover here from nomad vampires again?" she growled.

It was no secret Leah did not care for Bella swan. It wasn't that the girl hung out with vampires. She could care less about that; people had a right to love who they loved but what made her beyond mad was that Bella and Jacob knew about imprinting and yet he still pinned after her and Bella, well it seemed Bella returned his feelings and yet still stayed with the leech. And in truth… maybe Leah had a small crush on the alpha. He was what ever women could ever want. She had gotten over her love for Sam. But that didn't mean it still hurt like heck when she saw him with Emily. However, Jacob was different. He was sweet, caring and… he was serious. He knew what he wanted, and he went for it. Unlike Sam Jacob was a natural born leader. No one needed to tell him what to do, he just did it. And yet… the mans only weakness was Bella. For some reason, she had this weird hold over him, and no one could figure it out.

"don't start leah. Seth has something to say and he couldn't do it at the house. Bella? Can you, you know?" Jacob asked as he gestured with his hands.

"oh yeah… um hang on I have to close my eyes…." Five minutes later Bella opened her eyes. "were good." She confirmed.

Leah was going to ask what the heck she was talking about, but Jacob spoke.

"alright Seth, what's up? What's going on?" Seth sighed and sat on the ground.

"well… you know how your transition ceremony is coming up?"

"yeah… why?" Jacob asked.

"Jacob… what is something that all the chiefs of our tribe have in common?" Seth asked cryptically.

Jacob looked at Seth with serious eyes. The dots connect. " They were married… why ?" he growled lowly.

His wolf was taking over now. Deep in his gut, he had an idea what this meeting was about, but he had to make sure, no use making accusations without proof.

"well, a few weeks ago, I heard my parents talking and… the elders are going to try and marry you the night of your ceremony. At least announce an engagement… and… they have already found you a bride…" Seth's eyes darting over to Leah.

There was silence before an earsplitting roar overwhelmed them.

Immediately Seth and Leah bowed low to the ground. The weight of their true alpha radiating over them. Bella didn't bow but she did stand perfectly still.

At this moment Jacob was no longer human. Right now, he was a wolf. An angry, pissed off wolf, who subordinates were planning a coup against him. That would not be tolerated.

The wolf paced back and forth, letting out snarls and growls. If he wasn't stopped, he would probably go and kill the whole council.

With slow movements, Bella sunk to her knees. The first time she saw a wolf phase, she had been terrified but now, it was different.

This wolf. He was hers. Her wolf.

"Alpha?" she called as she lowered her eyes to the ground.

Bella was not afraid. He chose her. He wouldn't hurt her. Not him. Not wolf or Jacob.

"alpha?" she called again.

The pacing stopped and the growls were lowered.

"I know your angry and you have every right to be. But we must figure this out calmly… please. Come back to me… please?" she begged.

With glowing yellow eyes, wolf had prowled toward her. His nose snuffling her neck. She flet him breathe again and fur turned into skin. Hot arms locking around her and lifting her from the ground.

" you are ours. No one will take you from us!"

"ssh. Ssh. Yes. I am yours. I am. No one will take us." She pleaded as she tried to calm him down.

Jacob buried his face in Bella's neck breathing in her scent.

"Leah?" he called without looking up. "did you know about this? Did you know they were going to try and force us to marry."

Leah couldn't answer. She was too shocked.

Her and Jacob? Married! Deep down the thought appeased her, but it had to be mutual. Nothing about this was mutual. This was forced.

Just. like. An. imprint .

"what!" she choked. "no! no! I didn't even… I don't… WHAT!? how could they… why… would they? WHAT!Seth!"

Seth ran his hands through his hair. Stress displaying on his face.

"mom and dad said the council had a way to prevent or stop imprints and once they announced you and Jacob's engagement, they were going to do that, so neither one of you imprinted." He whimpered.

"THEY CAN PREVENT IMPRINTS!" Leah bellowed. Her heart pounding at the revelation.

All the things that could have been prevented. The heartache that could have been prevented.

Her mind instantly raced to Sam. The memories. The things that could have happened if Sam hadn't imprinted.

There children. Her children. She could have- they could have… Leah drop to her knees as a gut-wrenching sob tore from her throat.

As she cried arms locked around her neck and not caring she allowed whoever it was to hold her.

What was she going to do now?

Jacob watched in anger and sadness, as Bella held a heartbroken Leah.

"jake… im sorry… I should have told you sooner… I- " Jacob shook his head at Seth.

"apologies are not necessary. Thank you for telling us " he assured the young wolf.

"So… what do we do now?"

Jacob smiled evilly and allowed his wolf to emerge.

" we are going to fight fire with fire. The council wont know what hit them…"
