Jacob stood seemingly peaceful as the elders sat before him. Behind him was his pack minus Seth. He made sure he stayed behind with Bella if anything happen to her. His wolf had been anxious ever since they left her last night but knowing that Seth was around calmed them down a little more.

Right now, he needed to focus. Sam was next to him looking just as confused. The elders didn't tell them why they were here, but Jacob knew. He just needed to play the game.

"Jacob Ephraim black. We have asked the protectors of the Quileute tribe here for an incredibly special announcement today. As we all know this coming Friday, Samuel Uley will be stepping down as Alpha and Jacob will be stepping up. Samuel will be taking his seat on the council as soon as Jacob becomes alpha." His father declared. Even though his father talked with authority Jacob could see the torment in his eyes. While he wanted a great future for his son, he didn't want it like this.

Quill Sr. or Big quill as everyone called him cleared his throat as he stood.

"We the council believe that you Jacob Ephraim black will make a great alpha. However, as alpha you will need to have a suitable and appropriate mate by your side. And since you have yet to imprint within the acceptable time, we have chosen a mate for you…"

If it had been Sam, the pack would have gone into uproar. His soon to be former alpha's emotions were always bubbling on the surface. It made it easier for the pack to react like a bunch of banshee's. But Jacob was the opposite. He was calm and because he was calm the pack was calm.

At least on the surface but he could feel their anger. Their questions.

How could the elders ask thatof him? Of anyone? And yet… it didn't surprise them, from birth Jacob had been treated differently. Harsher scolding, harsher punishments. And don't get them started on the responsibilities. Jacob had it worse them all of them. Wheel chaired bound father, infant twin nephews, patrol and helping around the tribe, constant council meetings, not to mention studying the ancient ways. It was a lot for anyone to bear. How did he do it?

Jacob shook off the emotions of his pack, as he listened to what he already knew.

"We believe Leah clearwater will be an excellent choice for you. she is the only female wolf, plus she comes from one of the prominent families. She is and will be a great choice for you. the ceremony is on Friday, however in the eyes of the council and our tribe you are already married. Leah will pack her things tonight and move into the blacks. Also, you will be needing to cut off connections with Bella swan. She has chosen the cold ones and we will accept that. From here on she will not be allowed on this land. We have made it clear that she is not to come to the ceremony. That' is all."

With that said, the council dismissed them. His father refused to look at him. He knew they were going to tell him about his marriage but Bella? They told her not to come to him?! They banned her from the reservation without so much as a second glance.

Jacob was the first one out.

He needed air.

He needed to breath .

He needed Bella .

He needed his wife.

He needed to-

"JAKE NO!"

Someone was touching him. Someone who wasn't his wife. Immediately Jacob turned on them but froze to see Leah with tears pouring down her eyes. The Pack stood in the background. All of them looking angry, confused, and shocked. But Jacob was stuck on Leah, her dark eyes full of so much emotion. Emotions other then anger. That was different.

"Four more days Jacob. We can do it…" she whispered So low the pack couldn't hear. "This is going to sound crazy but… I want to give him a chance. You and Bella… you've inspired me to give love a chance. If I can last four days, so can you. lets get something to eat…" she said gently as she took his hand.

Jacob closed his eyes, taking a deep breathe. Feeling through his bond, he felt for his wife. She was tired but content. Suddenly he felt something like a hug.

It was her . She was sending her comfort for his sorrow. Relaxing, Jacob squeezed Leah's hand.

"Let's go to my house. Sam, you can call Emily."

With that said, the pack followed their leader with no questions. It didn't matter that it wasn't official, Jacob was their alpha and Sam agreed.

"Dudes! We have one more week of school! Then its graduation day! I have to help my parents with the shop this summer. What the heck are we going to do!" mike bemoaned "Well, I know what im doing! im spending summer down at the California beach! And then after that I start my modeling job! I will be living the high life!" Lauren bragged.

"Well, Ben and I will be going to Washington State but for the summer were going to go on a road trip!" Angela squealed.

"My parents are taking us on a cruise." Jessica said as she shrugged not seeming as excited.

"Man, you all have great plans…. Bella, what about you?"

It was then that all eyes turned to their most quiet friend. She seemed zoned out, but every now and then she would rub her shoulder, a faint smile coming upon her lips. They all were shocked when she sat down at their table instead of the Cullen's. Speaking of them, they were all sitting at their usual table, but it seemed like Edward had his eyes on Bella.

The latter cleared her throat breaking the strange hold.

"Uh yeah… so Bella, what are your plans for summer and fall?" mike questioned again.

Bella felt a blush creep over her as she hitched a shoulder to her ear.

"Um, well… I applied to a few universities, and I got accepted into all of them. I want to study marine biology."

"Wait? Marine biology? I thought you were going to Dartmouth or Alaska, for literature or something?" Lauren questioned surprised.

Bella shook her head.

"No, I love books, but I've always loved sea animals." "I never knew…" Jessica shrugged.

"It takes one to know one…" Bella said in finality as she stood. "Where are you going?" mike asked.

"I have to study. Bye guys…"

With that said, Bella grabbed her things, threw her tray away and walked out the lunch room.

Of course, the Cullen's followed.

"Edward! Now is not the time!" Rosalie hissed as she quickly blocked his way towards the school library.

"but Rosalie I have to-"

"NO. you don't! you need-"

"Rosalie…"

All eyes turned to see Bella holding a book standing in the library doorway.

"it's ok. let him in… he and I need to talk anyway."

Rose held her brother back, eyes dark wondering if Bella was telling the truth. The three of them, she, jasper, and Bella had agreed. However, she didn't expect Bella to move so fast.

"Are you sure? Because once you do this, there is no going back Bella…" she said cryptically. Edward hissed in frustration. Rosalie made sure to sing the alphabet in Russian as she waited for the girl to respond.

"Rosalie, my decision is final. This is what I want. Come on Edward…" Bella gestured.

Jacob looked around the room. Suitcases everywhere. His drawers were now filled with thongs and bras.

Thongs and bras that weren't his wife's.

All he wanted was a simple nap before something came up. So far, he had moved Leah into his house, gave his father his medication, had Quill's mom feed the twins, he made sure Ms. Runner's roof was fixed and able to withstand the next storm.

In about an hour he had to go to his aunt for his fitting for Friday and then he had a meeting with Sam to talk about the logistics of the pack after Friday.

Would they still go to Emily's, or would they go to his house? Would Emily cook for him or would Leah? Would Leah even be allowed to phase anymore, since she would be responsible for-

The ringing of his phone interrupted his thoughts. Jacob sighed. Couldn't he just get a minute?

The called id read as Seth.

"what's wrong?" he questioned immediately. Not even bothering with a Hello.

"she's on the rooftop with Edward. Alone. They-"

Jacob hung up, looks like the elders would have to wait.
