"I can't believe you guys are making me come to this haunted house, it's so lame," Yumi mumbled trying to hide the fear in her tone.

"What is it Ishiyama, don't tell me you're afraid," Ulrich smirked as he taunted her.

"No. It's just, we could've done literally anything else, but here we are at this lame, overcrowded house," Yumi replied as she stuck out her tongue. Why did Stern love picking on her so much? What did she do to make him hate her.

"Cool it, you guys. Let's try to enjoy, it's Halloween, it's not like we do this all the time. Besides, I wanted you both here with me, where would I be without my best bud and my girlfriend," William smiled warmly as he wrapped his arms around Yumi and Ulrich.

"Alright, alright. Let's just get this over with," Yumi sighed as she walked into the house. William was lucky he was so darn cute, but why did he have to be best friends with that bonehead.

"It's not cool that we always end up doing whatever William wants to do," Aelita whispered.

"Hey c'mon, at least we're together," Odd smirked as he grabbed her hand and led her into the house.

"You mean, at least my best friend is happy right?" Aelita stuck her tongue out as she pulled her hand away. Odd was always flirting with her. But what else could she expect from a serial dater.

"See, it's not all that bad," William whispered as he walked beside Yumi.

"Right, well this isn't exactly my idea of a date," Yumi smirked as they continued to walk through the jump scares.

"I know but-" suddenly William stopped talking. Yumi sighed as she looked to her right where he had once been.

"William? This isn't funny," She sighed as she looked around but couldn't seem to find him. "Aelita? Odd? Ulrich?" Yumi shouted as she realized that she was now completely alone in this dimly lit maze of a home.

"Right, well looks like I'm on my own," She sighed as she chose a door to her left to open. Yumi slowly reached for the doorknob as she prayed that there was nothing scary behind the door. However, before she was able to the door swung open. She screamed at the top of her lungs as the room went completely dark and she saw a tall figure before her.

"Calm down Yumi! It's me, Ulrich. I'm assuming you're lost too?" He began to chuckle, he loved seeing her squirm.

"Alright, I'm leaving. This isn't funny. You guys can stop pranking me now," Yumi finished as she crossed her arms. She was convinced that Ulrich was just trying to scare her and had gotten all her friends to agree to do so as well.

"Ishiyama, nobody is pranking you. I walked through one of the doors on the left and have been walking in circles since. This door I just opened was behind a book case. We need to find the others and get out," Ulrich responded. Yumi, convinced by the seriousness of his tone simply nodded in agreement.

"Alright then, c'mon we'll keep heading straight. The house is bound to have a backyard exit at some point," Ulrich sighed as he began to lead the way.

Yumi, paralyzed by her fear of the dark simply reached for ulrich's arm without warning."I'm sorry, I don't care what you say, but I'm hanging onto your arm until we're out of here or until we find someone else."

"Okay," was all Ulrich managed to say. That was as close as he'd ever been to her and it felt nice for whatever reason to have her depend on him.

"What are you doing Sissi?" William sighed as he realized that it was her who had pulled him into a random room.

"Well, I saw you earlier and couldn't resist. You know I like messing with you," Sissi winked as she let go of William's arm.

"Yeah, well now I need to go find Yumi. You know she doesn't really like the dark. Plus, shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?" William rolled his eyes as he responded.

"Things are weird with us right now. Not that I owe you any explanation. Anyway, I don't know why you're asking about him when you're here with your girlfriend," Sissi sighed as she leaned against the wall.

"Ha. Classic you. Trying to turn things around. Let me remind you that you're the one that broke up with me to date a college guy," William retorted.

"Yeah, and let me remind you that I broke up with you because you would rather hang out with your bros and party, than date me," Sissi shouted as she headed for the door.

"Sorry," William mumbled under his breath as he slid to the ground. This conversation seemed to happen every time he was near Sissi, and as much as he liked Yumi, he couldn't help but still want to check up on Sissi here and there.

"This house is a freaking maze," Aelita shouted, annoyed that she had let Odd lead the way. Had she just walked by Yumi she would at least be with her friend.

"I know, I had never been here before but it looks smaller from the outside doesn't it," Odd whispered as he debated between which door to take.

"Let's just go with the left door. Worst case scenario we-"

"Retrace our steps?" Odd interrupted Aelita stealing the words right out of her mouth.

"Yes," she smirked as she reached for the door with Odd right behind her.

"Are you doing okay Yumi?" Ulrich whispered as he felt her grip on his arm tighten.

"Mhhm," was all Yumi managed to say. She felt safe now that she was holding on to his arm.

"You sure?" Ulrich asked.

"Yes Stern, I'm positive. Now stop being so nice it's weird," Yumi chuckled trying to hide her blushing face. She knew it was dark and he couldn't see anyway, but she couldn't help but feel embarrassed that he was being so nice.

"Fine, fine. I was trying to be a gentleman but I guess you prefer the real me," he wink as they kept walking. Yumi felt as if her cheeks were on fire at this point.

"You a gentleman? Don't make me laugh," Odd's voice shot through the room as he and Aelita came out of a door to their left.

"Aelita!" Yumi shouted as she embraced her best friend. "Where's William?" Yumi whispered.

"I don't know, but we found the exit, c'mon" Aelita responded as she motioned for the door.

Yumi and Ulrich simply nodded as they began to follow.
