Preparing for the Poison Squad
The group is leaving the cave in East Province Area Three they found the Salty Herba Mystica in.
"I am, totes, glad we found another of those Herba Mysticas for your Mabosstiff, Arven." said Leni.
"Only two more to go." said Arven.
"So, what now?" asked Lana. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and looks at the map.
"According to this, another Team Star base is northwest from here in a place called Tagtree Thicket." said Clyde.
"Are you all going after it, Clyde?" asked Penny.
"Of course; if Team Star is causing trouble at Naranja Academy, they must be taken care of." replied Clyde, making Penny look at him with admiration.
"What type of Pokemon do you think they use?" asked Lincoln. Clyde looks at the map.
"The map Cassiopeia sent me says that the Team Star team near here is the Poison Squad; so it's obvious they use poison types." said Clyde.
"So psychic and ground types would help." said Lincoln. "Steel types are immune to poison type attacks so they could help also."
"Yeah, and ghost types have a resistance to poison type moves also." said Clyde.
"I definitely got ground type moves covered." said Lana.
"I have plenty of ghost types." said Lucy from behind Penny, startling her, and making her wrap her arms around Clyde; she lets go while blushing after she realized what she was doing.
"My Meditite has some psychic type moves." said Lynn. "And my Pawniard's a steel type so she can be helpful."
"And your Zangoose has the Immunity ability." said Clyde.
"Oh yeah, she can't be poisoned." said Lynn with a grin.
"I can swap my Cyclizar for my Tinkatuff." said Lincoln. "Although her fairy type moves won't do much against poison types, she has plenty of other moves. Since Okidogi is part poison type, he can handle poison type moves."
"And Munkidori also has psychic attacks and is part poison." said Clyde.
"I don't have a lot of Pokemon that could help." said Leni with disappointment.
"Don't worry about it." said Clyde. "We have enough Pokemon between us to handle the Team Star squad."
Lincoln then uses his Rotom Phone to swap his Cyclizar for his Tinkatuff.
"We should look around for a bit." said Lincoln.
"Maybe we'll find some more Pokemon that can help out." said Clyde.
"Even new ones we haven't seen yet." said Lana with excitement.
"And strong ones that Lincoln can use in the Paldea League." said Nemona.
"Or some ones we can send back to Royal Woods for our friends." said Leni. Remembering something she planned earlier, she uses her Rotom Phone to call the Loud house.
"HI, sweetie." said Lynn Sr.
"Hi, Dad." said Leni. "I'm sending over my Lilligant for Jackie and Mandee."
"Okay, you two." said Lynn Sr. Leni and Lincoln use their Rotom Phones to send Lilligant. Lynn Sr goes upstairs to get her pokeball. "I'm going to have Lisa bring those Cyclizars you sent me to Chandler and his friends since she goes to the same school as them."
"I'll deliver the Cyclizars to the three miscreants tomorrow." said Lisa.
"And I'll bring Lilligant to your friends, Leni." said Lynn Sr.
"They're probably at the mall." said Leni.
"Thanks, everyone." said Lincoln. "I may not like Chandler or his friends, but I feel he'll bother Lisa and Lola if they don't get the Cyclizars."
"Understood." said Lisa.
"So what else have you all been up to?" asked Rita.
"We just got another Herba Mystica for Arven's Mabosstiff." said Leni.
"That's wonderful." said Rita.
"And we're, totes, going to find the other two so he can get all better." said Leni, making Arven look at her with admiration.
"We hope you do." said Luan.
"I got Lilligant." said Lynn Sr as he holds out a pokeball.
"Thanks, Dad." said Leni.
"And Lincoln, we just got done talking with Mrs. Santiago; and Ronnie Anne is coming over to Paldea." said Rita, surprising Lincoln, his sisters, and Clyde.
"She is?!" asked Lincoln with surprise.
"Yes; Maria got Ronnie Anne enrolled at the Naranja Academy." said Rita.
"She was really interested in Pokemon." said Luna.
"And Bobby said she wanted to be with you." said Lori with a grin, making Lincoln blush, his sisters who were with him squeal with delight, and Nemona and Iono growl.
"So we need you to meet up with her at the airport." said Rita. "She'll be there tomorrow morning." said Rita.
"Okay, Mom." said Lincoln. After that, they all end the call.
"I can't believe Ronnie Anne's coming here." said Clyde.
"Not really that surprising." said Lucy.
"Pokemon are so cool!" said Lana.
"And she couldn't stay away from Lincoln." said Lynn with a smirk.
"Well, I guess I can't blame her for that." said Nemona as she wraps her arms around Lincoln in a hug, making Iono do the same thing while glaring at her.
"But she better not try anything with my cutie; he's mine!" said Iono.
"He's mine!" said Nemona.
"Anyway, we should just focus on getting ready to take on that Team Star base." said Clyde.
"Let's get started everyone." said Lincoln.
"I'll go with Linky." said Iono as she hooks one of her arms around one of Lincoln's, making him blush.
"I will, also." said Nemona as she hooks one of her arms around Lincoln's available one while glaring at Iono.
"I'll go with Leni." said Arven with a blush, making Leni do so as well.
"I'll go with Clyde." said Penny with a blush.
"Me and Lucy will stick together." said Lana.
"Okay." said Lucy from next to Lana, scaring her.
"We'll meet at that Pokemon Center in about an hour." said Lincoln as he points to a nearby Pokemon Center; everyone nods before splitting up.
Lucy and Lana were walking around a part of East Province Area Three; as she does, she sees a bone sticking out of a pile of dirt.
"A Rare Bone." said Lucy; she walks to it and pulls it out of the dirt pile. "This can be sold for 5,000 pokedollars." As she puts the Rare Bone in her backpack, she sees a small, humanoid Pokemon with a light purple head, black and white body, and a white, bowlike protrusion on each side of its head, and other below its face. Lucy points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Gothita, the Fixation Pokemon. This Pokémon is normally very innocent. When it is staring at something invisible, it is unblinking and utterly silent." said Lucy's Rotom Phone.
"This says Gothita's a psychic type, so it can be useful against the Poison Squad." said Lucy; she looks at the Gothita. "Looks like my kind of Pokemon; I will capture it." She takes out a pokeball. "Sableye, go." She tosses Sableye's pokeball and releases her. The Gothita sees them and faces them in a battle stance.
"Get it, Lucy!" said Lana.
"Sableye, Astonish." said Lucy. Sableye jumps in front of Gothita and makes a scary face at it, dealing super effective damage to it, and making it flinch. "Now use Night Shade." Sableye fires beam of black energy from her eyes and they hit Gothita, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground. Lucy takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Gothita, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled a few times until it clicked.
"I have captured a Gothita." said Lucy. After Gothita's pokeball vanishes, Lucy looks up Gothita's information. "This says Gothita's a girl, she knows Pound, Confusion, Play Nice, Tickle, Psybeam, Charm, Psyshock, and Hypnosis; she has the Shadow Tag ability which prevents opposing Pokemon from running away or being switched with another Pokemon during battle." She uses her Rotom Phone to exchange her Duskull for Gothita.
Lucy spent some time training her new Gothita; she soon learned Fake Tears. After that, Lucy continued to explore the area.
Lynn was currently in a Tera Den, facing a crystallized orange, weasel-like Pokemon with a yellow collar around its neck, two tails, and a crystal fountain on top of it. Lynn points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Buizel, the Sea Weasel Pokemon. It spins its two tails like a screw to propel itself through water. The tails also slice clinging seaweed." said Lynn's Rotom Phone.
"I might need a water Pokemon in the future." said Lynn Jr before pulling out a pokeball. "Voltorb, go!" She throws Voltorb's pokeball and releases it. The Buizel becomes surrounded by water and flies at Voltorb, ramming it, and making it roll back. "Oh yeah?! Voltorb, Charge Beam!" Voltorb fires a beam of electricity from its body and it hits Buizel, dealing super effective damage; energy surges through Voltorb. "Looks like Voltorb's special attack strength increased." The Buizel fires a stream of water out of its mouth at Voltorb and hits it, dealing damage.
"Voltorb, Spark!" said Lynn Jr. Voltorb becomes surrounded by electricty and leaps at Buizel, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage; static surrounds the Buizel's body. "And Buizel's paralyzed." The Buizel tries to attack, but its paralysis stops it. "Voltorb, Electro Ball!" Voltorb forms a ball of electricty above it and launches it at Buizel, hitting it and dealing super effective damage; Buizel's Tera Form shatters and it collapses. Lynn takes out an empty pokeball and throws it; it crystallizes before it hits Buizel. It gets sucked into the pokeball; it wiggled a few times until it returned to normal and clicked. "Sweet; Buizel's mine."
Lynn finds herself back in East Province Area Three with Tiny Mushrooms and berries on the ground where the Tera Den use to be. After picking them up, she uses her Rotom Phone to look up Buizel's information.
"This says Buizel's a girl, she knows Tackle, Growl, Soak, Quick Attack, Fury Cutter, Water Gun, and Bite." said Lynn. "She has the Swift Swim ability which increases her speed when it's raining."
Back with Lana and Lucy, they were hanging around a giant mound of dirt.
"Imagine all the mud I can make with all that." said Lana as she looks at the dirt pile.
"How many graves can that fill?" asked Lucy, making Lana look at her with a creeped-out expression on her face. The sound of what could be an engine suddenly gets their attention, making the two look to see a Pokemon that was on dark gray, octagon-shaped wheels, a large metallic block on its head with four stripes and yellow eyes on its side, a small spout on the front of it with a mouth, and an exhaust pipe on its rear; it speeds past Lucy and Lana and turns back towards them.
"Ooh; what's that?" asked Lana with interest as she points her Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Varoom, the Single-Cyl Pokemon. It is said that this Pokémon was born when an unknown poison Pokémon entered and inspirited an engine left at a scrap-processing factory." said Lana's Rotom Phone.
"I want that Pokemon!" said Lana as she tosses a pokeball, releasing her Whiscash. "Okay, Whiscash, use Mud Shot!" Her Whiscash releases a large glob of mud from his mouth that hits the Varoom, dealing lots of super effective damage; the Varoom reacts by speeding towards Whiscash and ramming him. "Whiscash, use Water Pulse!" Her Whiscash releases a pulsing mass of water from his mouth that hits the Varoom, dealing damage; it begins to move while wobbling.
"I think it's confused." said Lucy from behind Lana, startling her.
"Don't do that!" said Lana.
"Can't promise that." said Lucy. The Varoom tries to speed towards Whiscash, but it ends up crashing into a rock instead, dealing damage to itself, and making it fall to its side while it struggles to get back up. Lana, seeing an opportunity, takes an empty pokeball from her backpack and throws it at the Varoom, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles once before clicking.
"Yeah! I caught Varoom!" said Lana. As her new Pokemon's pokeball disappears to storage, she looks up its information on her Rotom Phone. "My new Varoom's a girl, she knows Lick, Poison Gas, Smog, Taunt, Assurance, Sludge, Gyro Ball, and Headbutt; and she has the Overcoat ability which makes it so she's not bothered by weather, or affected by powder moves."
"Good work, Lana." Lucy says from behind Lana, startling her again.
With Clyde and Penny, they were looking at a cream-colored, catlike Pokemon with a golden charm on its forehead. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Meowth, the Cat Scratch Pokemon. All it does is sleep during the daytime. At night, it patrols its territory with its eyes aglow." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"I think I'll catch this one to send to my Dads; I'm sure they'll love it." said Clyde. He pulls a pokeball from his waist. "Munkidori, go!" He throws Munkidori's pokeball and releases him. "Okay, Munkidori, use Fake Out!" Munkidori claps his hands and releases a shockwave that hits the Meowth, dealing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Psybeam!" Munkidori fires a beam of multicolored energy from his hands and it hits Meowth, dealing damage; it begins stumbling around.
"Meowth's confused." said Penny. The Meowth was able to fight through its confusion and pounces at Munkidori; it bites him, dealing super effective damage.
"Munkidori, use Poison Jab!" said Clyde. Munkidori leaps at Meowth while his fingers glowed purple and he jabs Meowth with it, dealing damage, and knocking it to the ground. It turned purple under Meowth's eyes.
"It's poisoned." said Penny. Clyde takes an empty Heal Ball out of his backpack and he throws it at Meowth, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled until it clicked.
"Yes; I caught Meowth." cheered Clyde.
"Good work, Clyde." said Penny. After Meowth's pokeball vanishes, Clyde looks up Meowth's information.
"This says Meowth's a girl, she knows Growl, Fake Out, Feint, Scratch, Pay Day, Bite, Taunt, and Assurance." said Clyde. "She has the Technician ability which powers up her weak attacks." As Clyde is picking up his backpack, he sees a teal colored stone on the ground; he picks it up.
"What did you find, Clyde?" asked Penny.
"No way; a Dawn Stone!" said Clyde. "With this, I can evolve my Kirlia." He takes Kirlia's pokeball from his waist and tosses it, releasing Kirila. "Hey, Kirila; how would you like to evolve?" Kirlia smiles and nods; Clyde touches Kirlia with the Dawn Stone and he begins to glow. Kirlia begins to change shape; when he stopped glowing, Kirlia had a green torso with red horns sticking out of his chest and back, his lower body was white with strong looking legs, his arms were green with blade-like elbows, and his head resembled a helmet with a teal crest on top of it.
"What's Kirlia now?" asked Penny. Clyde points his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon.
"Gallade, the Blade Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Ralts. When trying to protect someone, it extends its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely." said Clyde's Rotom Phone.
"According to this, Gallade learned Slash when he evolved and he now has the Sharpness ability which powers up his slicing moves." said Clyde.
"Congratulations, Clyde." said Penny while she was hugging Clyde. Realizing what she was doing, she lets go and they both looked away from each other while blushing. Clyde calls the Loud residence on his Rotom Phone; seconds later, Rita Loud answers.
"Hi, Mrs. Loud." said Clyde.
"Hello, Clyde; is there anything I can do for you?" asked Rita.
"Yeah; I'm sending a Pokemon for my dads; can you bring her to them?" asked Clyde. "It's called a Meowth." He then tells Rita what Meowth's moves are and her Technician ability.
"Sure, Clyde; I'll bring Meowth to your dads." said Rita. Clyde uses his Rotom Phone to transport Meowth to the Loud residence. Moments later, Rita was seen, holding up Meowth's Heal Ball. "I got Meowth's pokeball; I'll bring her to your dads."
"Thanks, Mrs. Loud." said Clyde. He ends the call and he and Penny continue exploring East Province Area Three.
With Leni and Arven, Leni was training up her Pokemon to help Arven against future Titan Pokemon.
Her Eevee learned Bite, her Vulpix learned Flamethrower, her Kirlia learned Charm, her Smoliv learned Seed Bomb, and her Finneon learned Attract; also during Smoliv's training, she froze up and started to glow.
"Smoliv's evolving!" said Leni. She and Arven both watched while holding hands as Leni's Smoliv begins to change; when she was done, she was a humanoid Pokemon with a light green head that had leaves on its head acting like hair with two light yellow green olives in them, green leafy arms, a cone-shaped dress over the rest of her body.
Leni takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her new Pokemon.
"Dolliv, the Olive Pokemon, and the evolved form of Smoliv. Dolliv shares its tasty, fresh-scented oil with others. This species has coexisted with humans since times long gone." said Leni's Rotom Phone.
"She's, totes, cute!" said Leni as she hugs her new Dolliv.
With Lincoln, Nemona, and Iono; the white-haired Loud was exploring a part of East Province Area Three while the girls clung to him.
As the three look around, Lincoln feels something land right on his head, and hears Nemona and Iono laugh a little.
"What the..." Lincoln says as he reaches up and grabs something; he brings it down to see he was holding a gray, birdlike Pokemon with a thick coat of feathers covering its head, along with a single red and white feather on its forehead.
"That's a Rufflet." said Nemona.
"Rufflet?" Lincoln replied as he uses one hand to grab his Rotom Phone at the Pokemon now identified as a Rufflet.
"Rufflet, the Eaglet Pokemon. They pick fights indiscriminately. They grow stronger and more powerful each time they faint or are injured." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Why did it land on my cutie's head?" asked Iono.
"First off, Lincoln's mine." said Nemona as she glares at her rival. "And second, he probably thought that his head was a cloud because of his white hair."
"How do you know this Rufflet's a boy?" asked Lincoln.
"All Rufflets are boys." said Nemona.
"Oh." said Lincoln as he sets the Rufflet down and continues on; as he and the girls were walking, the three look back when they hear something following them to see the same Rufflet from before.
"What does he want?" asked Iono.
"I don't know." said Nemona. "Maybe he's interested in Lincoln?"
"Probably." said Lincoln. As he kneels down to get closer to Rufflet's eye level, the Pokemon flies up onto his shoulder.
"Must like you; I can relate." said Iono with a giggle.
"Do you wanna come with me?" Lincoln asked the Rufflet, getting a nod in response; he then takes an empty pokeball from his pocket, enlarges it, and holds it up to the Rufflet; the Pokemon taps the button with his beak, making the pokeball suck in it and wiggle a few times before clicking.
"You make it look so easy, Linky." said Iono.
"Gonna put him on your team?" asked Nemona.
"Maybe after I take care of the Team Star base." said Lincoln. As his new Rufflet's pokeball disappears to storage, he looks him up on his Rotom Phone. "Like Nemona mentioned, Rufflet's a boy; he knows Leer, Peck, Hone Claws, Wing Attack, Tailwind, and Scary Face, plus he has the Keen Eye ability which makes it so his accuracy can't be lowered."
Lincoln takes the time to train up his Tinkatuff also for his upcoming Team Star battle and she soon learns Play Rough; also during the training she froze up and started to glow.
"She's evolving!" said Iono. The three watch as Tinkatuff begins to change; when she finished, her hair was almost the same style as Iono's, and her hammer was more solid and a lot bigger than she is.
"Whoa!" said Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at his newly evolved Tinkatuff.
"Tinkaton, the Hammer Pokemon, and the final evolved form of Tinkatink. This intelligent Pokémon has a very daring disposition. It knocks rocks into the sky with its hammer, aiming for flying Corviknight." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"And this says she learned Gigaton Hammer after she evolved!" said Lincoln.
"Congratulations, cutie!" said Iono as she kisses Lincoln on the cheek, making him blush; Nemona quickly kisses his other cheek while she and Iono glare at each other, and Lincoln's blush intensifies.
After Lincoln's face returns to its normal color, the three continue to explore the area until they spot a Tera Den nearby.
"Wanna check it out?" Lincoln asked the girls.
"Sure." said Nemona as she grabs Lincoln's hand and pulls him toward the Tera Den.
"Hey! Holding Linky's hand is my thing!" said Iono, making Nemona stick her tongue out at her.
The three crawl into the Tera Den and soon enter a crystal cavern; they all look around and soon see, to Lincoln's amazement and awe, a blue, serpentine Pokemon with fins on the sides of its head, and crystal flowers on top of it.
"It's a Dratini!" said Lincoln.
"Wow!" said Iono.
"Those are hard to find!" said Nemona. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Dratini.
"Dratini, the Dragon Pokemon. It sheds many layers of skin as it grows larger. During this process, it is protected by a rapid waterfall." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"I'm definitely catching this one!" said Lincoln.
"Judging by the flowers on its head, it's Tera Type is grass." said Nemona.
"Okidogi, come on out!" said Lincoln as he tosses Okidogi's pokeball and lets him out of it.
"I'll help you out, Lincoln!" said Nemona as she tosses a pokeball, letting out a Pokemon that looks like a Dunsparce, but it has a two-segmented body.
"What's that?" asked Lincoln as he points his Rotom Phone at Nemona's Pokemon.
"Dudunsparce, the Land Snake Pokemon, and the evolved form of Dunsparce. This Pokémon uses its hard tail to make its nest by boring holes into bedrock deep underground. The nest can reach lengths of over six miles." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Cool!" said Lincoln.
"Happy to impress you, Lincoln." Nemona says with a wink while Iono frowns.
"Mismagius, come out!" said Iono as she lets her Mismagius out of her pokeball.
"Let's do this!" said Lincoln. "Okidogi, use Poison Fang!" His Okidogi's fangs begin dripping poison as he bites down on the Dratini, dealing super effective damage; the Dratini starts to look ill.
"She's poisoned!" said Nemona. The Dratini's skin starts to peel off until it falls off Dratini's body; it looks better after that.
"What happened?" asked Iono.
"It must have the Shed Skin ability!" said Lincoln. The Dratini reacts by releasing a twister that hits Okidogi, dealing damage to him.
"Dudunsparce, use Poison Tail!" said Nemona. Her Dudunsparce's tail glows purple as it swings it at the Dratini, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage. The Dratini reacts by swinging its tail while it was covered in a green layer of energy that looked like scaly at Dudunsparce, hitting it.
"Mismagius, use Mystical Fire!" said Iono. A red ring of flame comes out of one of Mismagius's chest jewels and hovers in front of her; she releases a stream of flame through it that grows as it travels towards Dratini and hits it, dealing super effective damage. Dratini reacts by covering its body in a light blue, dragon-shaped aura as it rockets at Mismagius and slams into her.
"This Pokemon is tough!" said Nemona.
"I won't give up no matter what!" said Lincoln with determination in his voice, making Iono and Nemona look at him with adoration.
'He's so incredible!' Nemona and Iono think to themselves in unison.
"Okidogi, use Howl!" said Lincoln. Okidogi howls, increasing the attack strengths of himself, Dudunsparce, and Mismagius. Dratini slams its tail onto Okidogi's head, driving him into the ground.
"Dudunsparce, use Air Slash!" said Nemona. Her Dudunsparce flaps its wings, releasing a blade of wind that hits the Dratini, doing super effective damage, and making it flinch.
"Mismagius, use Mystical Fire again!" said Iono. Her Mismagius hits Dratini with another powerful stream of fire, doing super effective damage; the Dratini reacts by releasing another twister at Mismagius, hitting her, and dealing damage.
"Okidogi, end this battle with Poison Fang!" said Lincoln. Okidogi nods before giving the Dratini another poison-coated chomp, doing enough super effective damage to shatter its Tera Form.
"Catch it, Lincoln!" said Nemona. Lincoln quickly takes an empty pokeball out of his backpack and tosses it at the Dratini as it becomes covered in a crystal shell, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"Woohoo!" cheered Lincoln. "I caught Dratini!"
"Congratulations, cutie!" said Iono as she and Nemona hug Lincoln at the same time.
While Lincoln's new Dratini is sent to storage and the Tera Den shatters, Lincoln looks up his newly captured Pokemon's information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says my Dratini's a boy, he knows Wrap, Leer, Twister, Thunder Wave, Dragon Tail, Agility, Slam, Aqua Tail, Safeguard, and Dragon Rush; and like I suspected, he has the Shed Skin ability." said Lincoln.
As the white-haired Loud looks at where the Tera Den was, he sees some berries, and two red, four-pointed rocks.
"What are those?" asked Lincoln as he picks up the red rocks.
"Those are Star Pieces." said Nemona. "You can sell those for 12,000 pokedollars each."
"That's a lot of money!" said Lincoln.
"We should go and meet up with the others." said Iono.
"Good idea." said Lincoln.
The three soon reach the Pokemon Center where everyone else was waiting for them. They all told each other about what they all achieved.
"I can't believe you managed to find a Dratini, buddy!" said Clyde.
"I know; it's so cool!" said Lincoln.
"And congrats on your Pokemon evolving, Lana and Leni." said Penny.
"Thanks." said Lana.
"Once we get our Pokemon treated, we'll go to where the Team Star base is." said Lincoln.
"You got it." everyone else said in unison.
Lincoln and his friends are ready to take on another Team Star base. Will they succeed? Wait and find out.
