Welcome back to Elemental Crisis Book III. Last time, As Spyro, Cynder, Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl, Superman, and Martian Manhunter attempted to escape from General Luthor and finally came to a realization as to why Martian Manhunter was having trouble controlling the Element of Electricity. He was overthinking it the whole time, and sadly it was the death of Malefic J'onzz that gave him the focus he needed. The group made it out, but General Luthor and Myriad, who was still in his control, followed them out. But thankfully, that was when the rest of the League and Superfriends arrived. General Luthor used Myriad to convert the entire building they were in into an army of drones, and the battle was set up at last. So, who's going to throw the first strike? Read on to discover...
(The scene is set just as we left it before, with General Luthor, Myriad, and an army of drones are about to strike at Spyro, Cynder, Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and the rest of the League and Superfriens in the Waverider and the Tower in spaceship formation, prepared to strike. Each is waiting for the other to make a move to strike. But eventually, General Luthor gets tired of waiting, and makes the first move)
General Luthor: ATTACK!
(With that, the fleet of drones move out as Myriad moves to attack against her will, led by General Luthor. Only to be met with the heroes charging into action. The battle is intense. Swarms of drones almost black out the sky as the Tower and Waverider power through them. Lasers are flying everywhere as ships streak through the sky. Meanwhile, on the ground, drones fly in to protect General Luthor and Myriad, but Flash and Batwoman have them handled with Fire and Shadow, either burning them up in the air or pulling them to the ground by their own shadows, allowing everyone else to focus on the Dark Knights. Supergirl, Martian Manhunter, and Spyro team up on Myriad, while Cynder and Superman deal with General Luthor. On one side, Myriad seems to be winning, as just about everybody is hesitant to fight her)
Spyro: (Getting an idea) J'onn, why don't you just use Electricity and shock out her system?
Martian Manhunter: It would certainly work.
Supergirl: Unless we're trying to avoid taking life unnecessarily. And while the Alex Danvers of her world may have died when Myriad was made permanent, I can't risk destroying Myriad if there's a chance her mind is still in the Myriad system somewhere.
Myriad: A very unlikely proposition. Though to be honest, I'd rather you did as the Purple Dragon suggests. Anything's better than being under that traitor's command.
Supergirl: There's still got to be another way.
Martian Manhunter: (Looking over towards General Luthor) There might be a way. If I can take out Luthor's Warsuit, we may be able to disconnect him from the Myriad system. Or at the very least weaken his connection enough to slow down these drones.
Flash: (Blasting a stream of Fire) That would be very appreciated!
Spyro: I'd say it's worth a try.
Supergirl: (Struggling against Myriad) I can agree with that.
Martian Manhunter: Then that's what we'll do. (To Superman and Cynder) Clark, Cynder, incoming!
(With that, Martian Manhunter unleashes a massive bolt of Electricity straight at General Luthor. When Cynder and Superman duck out of the way the bolt strikes their opponent head on, and when the surge stops, the Warsuit basically loses all functionality and knocking his helmet. Yet despite that, Myriad and her drones don't stop attacking)
General Luthor: What have you done?!
Martian Manhunter: Wait, did that not work? I could have sworn that would kick Luthor out of the code!
General Luthor: (Laughing manically) It stopped me from sending new commands through the code, yes. But locked in my last one.
Myriad: In short, I'm now stuck complying with his last order. Nice going, you should have just killed me.
Cynder: Even if that didn't stop Myriad, it certainly stopped you.
General Luthor: Don't be too sure of that. You should know by now, a Luthor always has a backup plan!
(With that, General Luthor's Warsuit ejects something that looks like an epi-pen.)
General Luthor: (Grabbing the device) A concentrated strain of the Doomsday virus.
Superman: (Looking concerned at that) Doomsday... Virus?
General Luthor: Something my world dealt with. Guess it hasn't come here yet. Too bad you'll never live to see it!
(With that, General Luthor jams the device into his exposed neck, and before long starts to mutate, breaking out of his wrecked Warsuit and emerging as a massive green and purple variant of Doomsday)
General Luthor: Prepare to die, Superman!
Cynder: How the heck are we supposed to beat this thing?!
General Luthor: You're not! This is where your hope dies, dragon!
Superman: (With a look of confidence on his face as something clicks) I've got this.
(Superman walks up to General Luthor and gives him a solid sock to the face, only for General Luthor to hit back with his Doomsday strength. The blows are traded for a little bit, but then, one punch is blocked by seemingly the air itself)
General Luthor: What the...?
Superman: (As the Element of Wind seemingly glows in his eyes) That's one thing you've never understood, Luthor. Hope won't die until the last living being takes it's last breath. These people here won't give up so long as they can still draw breath. Me? I've got a different problem...
Cynder: (Realizing exactly what Superman is doing) I think he's got it!
(And with that, Superman summons the Element of Wind to blow General Luthor across the battlefield, crashing through a few of the drones before landing again as Superman descends on him in a vortex of wind)
Superman: It feels like I live in a world made of cardboard. Where I have to take constant care not to break something or someone. Where I can never lose control, even for a millisecond, or someone could end up dead. But you? You can take it, can't you? (Summons a massive Wind sphere in his hand) What we've got here is a rare opportunity for me to cut loose, and show you just how powerful I really am.
(With that, Superman unleashes that Wind sphere to contain General Luthor and basically punt him around the field in smaller vortices while the others look on)
Spyro: That's got to be the most powerful display of Wind I've ever seen, short of Cynder's feats.
Cynder: And now I see what was stopping him from getting it. He was deliberately holding back.
Flash: That's got to be the most Clark Kent thing I've ever heard.
Batwoman: Haven't known the guy as long as you have, but I agree.
Martian Manhunter: As nice as this reveal is, we've got other issues to worry about right now!
(And sure enough, a fleet of drones come swooping out of the sky right as Martian Manhunter says that, leading everyone to resume the battle as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. So, now Superman has Wind down. And yes, I did rip off the whole "world made of cardboard" thing from Justice League Unlimited, the animated series not the comic title, but come on. It fit so perfectly as the reason Superman of all people wasn't getting this new Element thing down! And now with only two chapters left to go, there's still a whole lot of battle left to go, and Malefor is still on his way. Next time, this battle wraps up. So how's it going to end? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
