Day 7 - Free Day: Hana
5 moments featuring Hana Yagami Ichijouji, Hikari and Ken's daughter.

.

Hikari slowly opened her eyes after sleeping for a couple of hours. She blinked a few times and then looked around the room. Both her and Ken's families were there, all gathered around something, in a circle. They were watching their daughter in an improvised crib.

"Oh, you're awake." Yuuko Yagami looked at her and smiled.

"How long was I sleeping?" She brushed a lock of her long brown hair and put her hands over her thighs, palm down.

"For about two hours or so. You were exhausted after spending so much time giving birth to your child and breastfeeding her that you just fell asleep."

"Is she okay?" Hikari asked, trying to take a look at her daughter the way she could. "I'm not hearing her cry."

"That's because she's sleeping right now. Would you like to see her?"

"I do."

"Okay." Yuuko picked the baby up as slowly and carefully as she could and walked towards her daughter. Then she put her in her arms and watched them share a moment. "She's such a pretty baby."

"Yes, she is." Hikari looked at her tenderly and began to stroke her hair softly. "I didn't think it was possible to feel such a strong emotion for another person. I mean, I love Ken with all my heart, but this is a completely different thing."

"I know exactly how you're feeling." Yuuko placed her hand over hers and looked into her eyes, smiling. "I felt the same way when I gave birth to you and to Taichi as well."

"I don't know if I'm ready to be a mother, mom." She confessed. "It seems a lot."

"Sometimes it can be. It's a constant and hard work, but it also has a good side."

"I can already see that." Hikari looked at her newborn baby and gently stroked her brown hair. She was wearing a yellow woolen overall with two white bears knitted in the chest.

"It's amazing how she's a mix of you and Ken." Yuuko stated as the baby slowly opened her eyes and stared at her mother. "She has his eyes and your hair."

"It's an exotic beauty, if you ask me." The teacher said proudly and smiled at her daughter. "Where's he, by the way?"

"He and Taichi went to grab something to eat. Your father went to get some air with Ken's parents. You didn't see them leaving?"

"No." She shook her head. "I think I was so focused on my daughter I didn't see anything around me."

The two young men opened the door right after that. Ken couldn't help but smile widely when he saw the scene in front of him.

"You two are awake." He said as he walked to them and kissed Hikari briefly. "How are you feeling? Did you get some rest?"

"I did." Hikari confirmed. "I'm glad you're here now."

"Do you need anything?" He sat next to her on the bed.

"I think I have the perfect name for our daughter now."

"Oh, which one?"

"You haven't decided the name yet?" Yuuko asked surprised.

"No, we were torn between a few ones. But I think Hana suits her perfectly."

"I love it." Ken said with a smile and glanced down at their daughter.

"I know it wasn't on the list, but…"

"It's perfect. Hana Yagami Ichijouji."

.

The cherry trees were full of flowers throughout Odaiba. It was the first time Hikari and Ken were taking Hana to a park and they were very excited about it. They were also going to meet the Chosen Children. Hana got excited the moment she saw the light pink flowers and started swinging her little arms and legs.

"Someone is loving here already." Hikari said as she watched her daughter bent forward in Ken's arms, trying to touch one of the flowers. "Look how happy she is."

"Of course she'd be drawn to flowers." He remarked with a smile on his lips. "You did choose the perfect name for her."

"I know." She changed her focus to him. "I was worried it would be too soon to take her for a stroll, but I guess I was wrong."

"We both were proven wrong then. I thought the same thing."

"I guess it's a parenting thing."

"Absolutely."

Hana became the center of the attention when the rest of the Chosen Children arrived, and she absolutely loved it. Sora was on cloud nine with the fact she was very excited about the flowers and found the perfect thing to bind over with her. She reached for a cherry flower with her free hand and gave it to Hana, who giggled and immediately grabbed it.

"At such an young age, already appreciating flowers. I can tell she'll have amazing taste on things in the future."

"Imagine how she would be if Hana felt like this about clothing, she would be over the moon." Yamato teased his wife in a playful tone, but he was in awe about how strong her bond with Hikari and Ken's daughter already was.

"I would be happy, yes." She replied and stuck her tongue out at him. "You're just jealous it's not over something you enjoy."

Everyone watched them have their small friendly bickering for a moment, and then Taichi walked over to his best female friend.

"Are you going to monopolize my niece or can I hold her now?"

"Taichi, I only got to hold her not too long ago."

"Sorry, uncles have the priority." He said jokingly.

"Come on, don't be a pain." She protested. "You get to spend more time with her than any of us does."

"You have a good point." Taichi backed down. "Okay, you can stay a little longer with her."

"Thank you." She smiled at him and then turned to look at the flowers with Hana. She caught a glimpse of Yamato from the corner of her eyes. "What?"

"I'm just thinking how amazing you will be as a mother." He said with adoration and pride and then grabbed his phone to take a picture of her.

"What are you trying to imply here? That you want to have a child?" Sora blushed a little just by thinking about that fact, which caught her by surprise.

"I might. It looked beautiful." He checked the picture out and put his phone away. "You have a natural talent with kids."

"T-Thanks." She blushed more and cut eye contact with him.

"Alright, it's my turn now." Taichi tried again and went to pick her niece up from Sora's arms. She started swinging her little arms and legs and smiled the moment she saw him.

.

The sun was shining bright that day. It was another typical summer day in Odaiba. Hikari and Ken decided to take Hana to Tokyo Bay and spend the day outside.

"Looks like we're the first ones to arrive." She commented as she looked around, looking for their families.

"They should be arriving any second."

"That's true."

"Papa, wate." Hana tugged on Ken's pants and looked up at him. "Wate."

"What do you mean, sweetheart?" He looked at her with a puzzled expression.

"I think she means water. She wants to get closer to the bay."

"Is that what you want?"

"Wate." The girl pointed towards the bay and began to drag him alone. "Wate."

"Okay, okay, we're going."

He picked her up when they got near the bay. Hikari watched the whole scene with a smile on her lips and grabbed her inseparable camera to take a picture of them.

About twenty minutes later, both the Yagamis and the Ichijoujis had already arrived, and Hana became the center of the attention. She ran to Taichi the moment she saw him.

"Uncle Taichi!" She hugged his leg tight and looked up at him.

"Hello, Hana." He ruffled her dark blue hair softly and she giggled. "I've missed you so much."

"Wate."

"What?"

"She got obsessed with the water." Hikari replied. "Ken took her there before you arrived and she went crazy over it."

"Oh really?" He looked at his niece with his eyebrows raised. "I thought it would go away with time."

"Some habits die hard or never do."

"You have a good point. I'm guessing it doesn't bother you."

"No, it doesn't really."

"Wate." Hana repeated, a little more annoyed this time, and tugged on Taichi's pants tighter.

"Don't be impolite, Hana." Hikari reprimanded her. "Your father already took you to the water."

The girl pouted and Taichi couldn't help but find the situation funny. Then he bent down and picked her up.

"I don't mind taking her there again." He said as he returned to his previous position.

"You don't have to do it, really."

"Hey, it's no problem at all." Taichi assured his sister in his true style. "I want to have this moment with my niece."

"Okay then." She felt her shoulders relax and follow them towards the water with her eyes.

"They will be fine." Ken stopped beside her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

"Oh, I know they will." She intertwined her fingers with his and smiled. "It's so amazing to see them bonding and creating memories. I wish I could know what it's like to build memories with a nephew or niece."

"Who knows? Maybe it will happen before you know it."

"Yeah, maybe." Hikari let her head rest against her husband's chest and closed her eyes for a moment.

.

Hikari came across a picture of when Hana was three. She sat on her bed and grabbed it, looking at it very carefully.

"What are you doing?" Ken asked when he walked in.

"I found this picture while I was looking for something else in this drawer."

"Oh." He sat beside her and stared at the photo. He couldn't help but smile seeing how happy their daughter looked. "When was it?"

"She was three on it, so three years ago."

"Wow, time is flying by. Can't believe it's been that long."

"It has." Hikari looked down at the photo in her hands. "I remember it like it was yesterday."

#

It was a typical summer day. The Chosen Children decided to get together and spend a few days at the beach.

"Mommy, hurry up." Hana said impatiently as she watched Hikari put a bunch of items in a bag.

"I'm going." She said as she put the last items into the bag.

"We're gonna be late." Ken said as he approached her.

"I know, I know." She zipped the bag and grabbed it. "I'm ready."

Hana jumped out of the car as soon as Hikari parked it in front of the house and ran towards it. She bumped into Takeru when she was about to go in.

"Ouch!" She exclaimed when she tried to stand up.

"Are you okay, Hana?" He asked as he stretched his arms to put her up.

"I'm okay."

"I didn't have time to tell her to wait." Hikari got closer to them. "But you know how fast she can be sometimes."

"I know." He watched his best friend's daughter run inside the house. "I wonder who she got that from."

"From Taichi, who else?"

"Did I hear my name?" Taichi walked outside with Hana in his arms. "Seems like I'm everyone's favorite subject."

"Seems like you have such a big ego too." Hikari mocked and stuck her tongue out at him.

"Is that really the example you want to give your daughter?" He teased and followed her suit when his niece wasn't looking.

"I can guarantee to you she already has the best examples." She teased back.

"I'm sure she does." He smiled and ruffled Hana's hair softly, causing her to giggle and shake her arms and legs happily. "Is it okay if I take Hana to the beach?"

"Sure." Hikari went through her daughter's bag and took out a bottle of sunscreen. "Make sure you put on sunscreen on her. The sun is shining brightly."

"Got it." Taichi grabbed the sunscreen bottle with his free hand.

"I'm going too." Takeru said.

"Awesome! I'm just waiting for Akiko to come out."

"I'm here." She walked outside seconds later and a large smile appeared on her lips when Hana threw herself towards her.

#

"Oh, I had forgotten about that." Ken admitted, looking at the photo.

"That's why we have pictures." Hikari smiled and put it back in her drawer.

.

Hana was in absolute awe when she saw Yamato's red guitar hung on a wall, when she and her parents were having dinner at his and Sora's house.

"Mommy, what's that thing on the wall?" She asked when she stopped beside Hikari.

"What thing?" She looked at her daughter. "Are you going to rooms you're not supposed to?"

"That thing on the wall in auntie Sora's bedroom."

"So you went to their bedroom without permission. I already told you can't do that." She turned to the hosts. "I'm so sorry, I don't know why she keeps doing that. I've taught her it's wrong."

"That's okay." Sora assured her.

"Yeah." Yamato took a glance at the hall. "We left the door open, it's absolutely not her fault."

"Still, it wasn't something nice to do."

"Hey." The fashion designer placed her hand over hers in a soothing way. "Don't worry about it, everything's fine. She's just a child, they are naturally curious sometimes."

"I suppose so."

"Mommy!" Hana tugged on Hikari's top to get her attention again.

"It's uncle Yamato's guitar, sweetheart." Sora replied. "He likes playing it sometimes."

"Ohhh!" She exclaimed with excitement when he walked in carrying it. "It's so big!"

"Yes it is." Yamato said when he sat on the floor and positioned it to start playing. "It has a beautiful sound too, it always calms me down whenever I play it."

The first chords echoed all over the apartment as soon as he started playing his favorite song. Both of his children and Hana gathered next to him on the floor, while Sora, Hikari and Ken watched him from the table.

"It's so cool to see music is still a big part of Yamato's life." Ken commented with a smile; his foot moving to the rhythm of the song.

"It's always been like this." Sora stated in a proud tone before taking a sip of her green tea. "Aiko and Kouji love it. They want to learn how to play guitar too. You can guess how emotional and happy Yamato was with that."

"I can imagine it." Hikari answered with a soft smile. "You are his biggest fan after all."

"Don't tell Taichi that." Both women laughed for a moment. "Or do. He thinks he comes before me in Yamato's list, but he couldn't be more wrong."

"It isn't Taichi if he doesn't turn everything into a competition from time to time." The brunette said in a somewhat amused tone.

"That's true." Sora's voice came out so dreamily that she blushed when Hikari giggled. "I'm sorry."

"No, it's alright." She assured her friend.

"Wow, that was so cool!" Hana exclaimed when Yamato finished the song. Then she looked towards her parents. "Daddy, can I have a guitar?"

"You're still too little to have one, sweetheart. It's a big instrument for your age. I'm sorry."

"Ah." She looked down, feeling very upset.

"Your father is right." Yamato said, drawing the girl's attention again. "But you can strum the chords yourself, if you want to."

"I do!" She sat beside him and slid her hands through the chords; a large smile on her face.
