It was a lovely evening in Transylvania the moon and stars were out for all to see and there was a cool evening breeze in the hair as Dracula flew through the night sky in his bat form. Dracula had just put his young infant daughter Mavis down for the night in the manor he was currently living in and had gone out for some fresh air and to stretch his wings. It felt good to get out now and then and Dracula looked forward to when his daughter was old enough to fly by his side. The thought made Dracula both happy and sad, since his late wife Martha wouldn't see Mavis fly or see her grow up. The thought of his wife made Dracula think about his secret project that he was having constructed, a haven for monsters from hateful humans that would hunt and kill them, Hotel Transylvania! Soon that would be a reality and Mavis would have a safe place to grow up.

The thought made Dracula smile as he decided to drop by one of the local villages and see what the humans were up to. It was always best to keep an eye on your enemy after all and see what you can learn about them. Dracula found a village and was greeted by a sight he was all too familiar with, an angry mob armed with torches and pitchforks. The vampire watched the mob run through the village and out of it and decided to follow them to see what had earned their wrath. It could be a unlucky monster who might need rescuing or it could be a human criminal or a human that had had done something to anger the local lords or ladies. Either way Dracula wanted to know what was going on.

Dracula put on a extra burst of speed and flew ahead of the mob, after their target. He soon caught sight of the fleeing target and was a bit confused at first. It looked like a tall woman wearing a wedding dress with a vail hiding her face, but on closer look Dracula could see that the woman was some form of undead. The woman had long dark wavy hair, pale blue skin, her left arm was mostly bone, ribs on her right side were showing due to a hole in the wedding dress, and the right leg was almost completely bone except for the skin that covered her foot and her ankle. The woman was a corpse bride!

Dracula watched as the undead woman run and dodge through the woods every now and then looking back at the perusing mob. The vampire had encountered many types of undead in his long life and this particular undead was very agile and graceful. Dracula looked on ahead and saw that the undead woman was heading towards a cliff! The woman reached the edge of the cliff and halted looking down the great height and the ground below before turning to face the mob.

"Please! I'm not...trying to hurt anyone!" Cried the woman.

"Silence monster! You are an abomination!" Cried a man.

"She's a servant of the devil!" Yelled a woman.

"I say we force her off the cliff!" Yelled another man.

"Off the cliff! Off the cliff!" Chanted the mob as they closed in on the woman.

The undead woman cried in fear as she desperately pleaded with the mob as they backed her to the edge, until there was no more ground to stand on. The mob cheered as the undead woman fell from the cliff to the ground below! Dracula quickly sprung into action and went into a dive flying past the woman before he changed back into his humanoid form and caught the woman and hovered in the air.

"Are you alright?" Asked Dracula.

"Yes...I'm fine." Said the woman as she looked up at Dracula.

The vail had blown off the woman's face giving Dracula his first real good look at her face and Dracula was momentarily stunned by it. The woman had big wide circular eyes with black dots as pupils, there was a hole in her left cheek that showed that her skin was deteriorating and revealed her white teeth, the tip of her nose was somewhat skeletal, and red lips. The woman was indeed dead, but death hadn't done too much to tarnish the beauty she must have been, when alive.

Dracula and the woman's eyes met and there was a purple flash of light in both their eyes as an odd pleasant feeling went through their bodies. Dracula recognized the feeling immediately as a zing. It was a feeling one has when someone meets their soulmate. Love at first sight. Dracula had experienced this exact same feeling when he met Martha for the first time and now it was happening again. Dracula didn't know what this meant.

"Who...are you and how exactly are...you floating in the air?" Asked the undead woman.

"Count Dracula? The famous...monster?" Asked the woman looking a bit shocked and frightened.

"Look most of the stuff you might have heard about me is false. I don't attack people and drain them of their blood. I only attack people if they attack me or any other monsters like yourself." Said Dracula.

The woman blinked and looked down at herself. Dracula began to realize that this woman hadn't been undead very long and most likely just started moving around this evening.

"My name...is Emily. I can't remember my last name. And the only thing I can remember...was going into the woods to meet someone...special."

At that moment a rock whistled by Dracula and Emily barely missing them. The two of them looked up to see the mob glaring down at them as they prepared to throw more rocks at them.

"Let's find a safer place with better company that won't interrupt us." Said Dracula as he flew away carrying Emily.

"This is turning out to be a very weird night." Thought Emily as she held onto Dracula.

The undead woman couldn't help but take a liking to her rescuer as they flew through the night sky.

To be continued.
