Lavi watched Kanda's retreating figure, feeling a mix of guilt and frustration. The words "I'm not saving you again" echoed in his mind. Determined to make amends and clear the fog surrounding the previous night, he decided to find out more about Tyki and what had transpired.
Later that day, Lavi found himself in the library, surrounded by ancient texts and the familiar scent of old books. He hoped to find something about Tyki and his connection to the Earl's family. As he thumbed through the pages of an old tome, he couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. He looked up and, to his surprise, saw Lenalee standing in the doorway.
"Lavi, what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. "You look like you've been through a lot."
Lavi managed a weak smile. "Just trying to figure out what happened last night. Do you know anything about Tyki?"
Lenalee's expression darkened. "Tyki Mikk? He's dangerous, Lavi. He's part of the Noah family, like Allen. But unlike Allen, Tyki revels in his darker side. You should be careful around him."
"I figured as much," Lavi sighed. "But I need to know more. I can't shake the feeling that something important happened last night."
Lenalee nodded, pulling up a chair and sitting beside him. "What do you remember?"
"Not much," Lavi admitted. "Just fragments. Allen said Kanda brought me back, and that I was... with Tyki. But the rest is a blur."
Lenalee looked thoughtful for a moment. "Maybe we can piece it together. What else do you remember? Any specific details?"
Lavi closed his eye, trying to summon any remaining memories. "I remember the party, and drinking a lot. I remember dancing, and then... Tyki. He was talking to me, but I can't remember what he said. And then, nothing."
Lenalee placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "We'll figure it out, Lavi. Just take it one step at a time. Maybe talking to Tyki directly isn't a good idea right now, but there are other ways to find out."
Just then, the door to the library creaked open, and Allen walked in, looking as if he had been searching for Lavi. "There you are," he said with a relieved smile. "I was worried when I couldn't find you."
"Just trying to figure things out," Lavi said, gesturing to the books around him.
Allen sat down next to Lenalee. "I might be able to help. I know Tyki better than most. He can be charming, but he's also dangerous. If he took an interest in you, there's a reason."
"Great," Lavi muttered, rubbing his temples. "Just what I needed."
Allen leaned forward, his expression serious. "Lavi, you need to be careful. Tyki's games are never simple. He's always several steps ahead. But we'll help you. We'll figure out what happened and why."
Lavi felt a surge of gratitude for his friends. "Thanks, Allen. And you too, Lenalee. I don't know what I'd do without you guys."
Lenalee smiled warmly. "We're a team, Lavi. We'll get through this together."
The three of them spent the next few hours in the library, piecing together what little they could about Tyki and his motives. As the sun began to set, Lavi felt a bit more hopeful. They hadn't found all the answers, but they were getting closer.
Just as they were packing up to leave, a shadow fell across the doorway. Lavi looked up to see Kanda standing there, his expression unreadable.
"Allen, Lenalee," Kanda said abruptly, his voice cutting through the quiet of the library. "Could you give us a moment alone?"
Allen hesitated for a brief second, glancing at Lavi, who offered a nod of reassurance. "Sure, Kanda," Allen replied, placing a hand on Lenalee's shoulder. "We'll be outside if you need us, Lavi."
Lenalee cast a worried glance at Lavi before following Allen out of the library, closing the door softly behind them. Lavi watched them go, feeling a knot of apprehension tighten in his chest as he turned back to face Kanda, who had moved closer, his arms crossed over his chest.
"Sit down, Lavi," Kanda said tersely, gesturing to a nearby table. Lavi obeyed, feeling a knot of apprehension tightening in his gut as he sat opposite Kanda.
"I need to know what happened last night," Kanda's voice was steady but edged with an underlying intensity. "Tell me everything."
Lavi took a deep breath, steeling himself to recount the fragmented memories. "I... I don't remember much," he began slowly, his voice tinged with regret. "There was the party, and... a lot of drinking. Tyki was there, and then... it's all blurry."
Kanda's expression darkened slightly, his eyes narrowing in scrutiny. "Tyki Mikk is trouble," he stated flatly. "If you got involved with him, it's not something to take lightly."
"I know I messed up," Lavi continued, his gaze dropping to the table. "I should have been more careful."
Kanda remained silent for a moment, his jaw tight with restrained emotion. "What were you thinking?" he asked finally, his voice a mix of frustration and concern.
"I... I wasn't thinking," Lavi confessed, his tone filled with self-reproach. "I was drunk, stupid. I won't let it happen again, Kanda. I promise."
Kanda studied Lavi for a long moment, his expression guarded. "Good," he said finally, his tone clipped. "Because I won't always be there to clean up your messes."
Lavi nodded again, his throat tight with emotion. "I understand."
Kanda remained silent, his features inscrutable as he stood there, arms crossed. After what felt like an eternity, he turned away, his footsteps echoing softly on the library floor.
Lavi watched him go, a heavy sense of regret settling over him. He knew Kanda's silence spoke louder than any words could. It was a stark reminder of the gravity of his actions and the trust he had broken.
As the library door closed behind Kanda, Lavi was left alone with his thoughts, grappling with the consequences of his recklessness. He knew he had to earn back Kanda's trust, but right now, the road ahead seemed daunting and uncertain.
