I DO NOT OWN BREAKING BAD OR COBRA KAI.
West Valley High School. Encino, California. 2 days later.
The following Monday, Holly Lambert officially started her freshman year at West Valley High School. She was eager to finally in a place where no one knew who she was; where she could just be a regular high school girl, no different than any other. Unlike J.P. Wynne High School, she didnt have to suffer through the stares and the whispers and the taunts that came naturally when you were a child of Heisenberg. Holly blended in with the other teenage girls and it felt wonderful.
Her first class was Math, which was unfortunately her worst subject. As the teacher droned on about how most of their summer would be taken up by algebra, Holly did her best to stifle a groan. As her eye darted around the classroom, they landed on the nerdy, but sort of cute latino boy sitting next to her. He looked just as bored as she was and she decided that now was as good a time as any to make a friend.
"Math is the worst." Holly whispered to the boy who turned to look at her with a smile that showed his dimples; making him cuter.
"Absolutely, i mean, maybe the teacher likes to torture kids." He said with a smirk as Holly returned the gesture.
"I'm Holly, Holly Lambert."
"Miguel, Miguel Diaz."
Later that day.
The good news was that Miguel seemed like a really nice guy and he knew how to make Holly laugh. The bad news was that before lunchtime rolled around, 1st period Math was the only class they shared. Thankfully, the 2 met up again for the 1st lunch period.
"Didn't know if i'd see you here." Miguel said as he got in line behind Holly; who was relieved to see someone she knew.
"A girl's got to eat." She remarked with a smirk as they went through the lunch line and took their hot lunch; which honestly didn't look all that appetizing.
"So...where should we go?" Holly inquired as she and Miguel began scouring the cafeteria for a table that would take them. However, most of them were full and the ones that weren't were populated by the rich boys and the rich girls.
When Holly saw the popular girl's table and the 3 beauties that sat there, she wanted nothing more than to join them; to know if being popular was any better than being infamous. But Skylar Lambert didn't raise no fool. Holly knew that a loner girl in 2nd hand clothes would be laughed out of the lunchroom if she tried to sit with the popular girls.
"Um...there's a table open." Miguel pointed out as he led Holly towards a table populated by 2 nerdy looking dudes. One was a black hair guy with pasty skin and a lanky physique. His companion was an equally lanky dude with light brown hair, shiny eyes, and a nasty looking scar on his upper lip. Other than the scar though, Holly thought he looked kind of cute.
"Is it cool if we sit here?" Miguel asked as he and Holly walked up to the table.
"Ooh, sorry, table is really blowing up right now." The black haired nerd said with a tone of voice that grated on Holly's ears. "I can put you on the wait list, but it's probably next semester at the earliest."
"Screw this, let's just find a wall or something." Holly replied with an eyeroll as she and Miguel moved to leave.
"No, I'm kidding; sit." The annoying nerd said as the 2 reluctantly took their seats.
"Miguel, this is Holly." Miguel said, introducing them both.
"Demetri. This is Eli. He's a man of few words." Demetri said as Holly sat next to Eli.
"Hi Eli." She said as the ghost of a smile appeared on his face.
"Hi...I like your hair." Eli replied softly as he pointed out Holly's emerald locks. She'd decided to dye her hair green as a way of reinventing herself. Her mom had been against it and the 2 had fought, but eventually, Flynn managed to get Skylar to agree.
"Thanks." Holly replied with a smile as she saw Miguel dropling over the long hair brunette at the popular girl table.
"Dude, don't torture yourself. Those are the rich girls." Demetri said with pity.
"Do you ever talk to them or?" Mifuel asked naively.
"Oh, yeah, all the time." Demetri said in a teasing tone of voice that made Holly cringe. "We hang out after school. Make out, give each other hand jobs. Eli here is the homecoming king; gets laid more than anyone. Isn't that right, Eli?"
"A bit jealoufd of your friend's success with the girls?" Holly teased back as Eli tried to hide the blush on his face. Clearly, no girl had ever dtood up for him before.
"Talk to them?" Demetri asked incredulously. You realize what table you're sitting at, right? You both have pretty much signed away all hopes of losing your virginity before college. Holly might have a chance, but it is slim at best."
"Unlike you, I'm not looking to get laid." Holly shot back, which was a lie.
"Oh, shit, Yasmine's looking at us. Probably just making fun of me." Eli said as he covered his scarred lip.
"Screw her, 5 bucks says she's a dumb blond bitch." Holly replied, not liking Yasmine's holier than thou demeanor 1 bit.
"I don't think she's making fun of you. I mean, just because they're hot doesn't mean they're mean." Miguel offered as Holly chuckled at his foolishness.
"Keep telling yourslef that, Diaz." She replied as she dug into her food and avoided whatever stares were coming her way.
