Note; This story is my attempt at the "Neville, Ginny, and Luna at Hogwarts during Deathly Hallows thing. This year will only cover the school year at Hogwarts during Deathly Hallows up through the Battle of Hogwarts.
It was late in the afternoon and Luna Lovegood was sitting in the very back compartment of the Hogwarts Express.
Luna was wearing a dress that was Ravenclaw blue in color and an unusual pair of bronze and blue sandals that were shaped like eagles. She was also wearing her butterbeer cork necklace and radish earrings.
Sitting across from her were Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley, who were both already wearing their Hogwarts uniforms.
"Neville, Ginny?" asked Luna dreamily.
"Yes?" replied Neville and Ginny.
But Luna didn't utter another syllable over the next minute and the next nanosecond, and Ginny piped up, "Um, Luna, you wanted to ask us something?"
"Oh, yes" said Luna, looking back at Neville and Ginny after her head had tilted toward the compartment ceiling, "Sorry, a wrackspurt came through our compartment and distracted me."
Next nanosecond, Luna gave Neville and Ginny the "shh!" sign and retrieved three D.A. coins from her left hand pocket with her left hand.
Luna handed Neville one of the D.A. coins and then gave another to Ginny while keeping the third for herself.
Luna changed the date and time on hers to Tuesday, September 1st, 1997, at 11 P.M.
Neville and Ginny got the message at once and knew to be quiet. They understood that Luna was weary of being overheard, especially after Death Eaters had searched the train looking for Harry Potter earlier in the afternoon.
That night, at 11 P.M. Hogwarts Time, Neville and Ginny met Luna just outside the Room of Requirement.
Luna walked past the wall three times thinking, "I want a place to talk that only I, Neville Longbottom, and Ginny Weasley can enter.
After the third time, a blue door with a bronze handle appeared.
Luna pulled the handle and opened the door.
"After you," Luna said to Neville and Ginny.
After Neville and Ginny had entered the room, Luna trailed behind them and shut the door behind her.
They heard a distinctive locking sound just after the door had been closed.
The Room of Requirement had become a simple room with a few chairs and sofas.
Neville, Ginny, and Luna found three black office chairs to sit down in. They didn't want to sit on a sofa because they thought a sofa would be too comfortable given the serious nature of the discussion they were about to have.
"So," said Luna to Neville and Ginny, "You know why I called you two here tonight. We need to reform the D.A."
"I have a tool that can help us," piped up Ginny, stuffing her left hand into her left hand pocket and withdrawing the Marauder's Map.
"Harry has loaned me this map for the upcoming school year while he and Hermione are away on a mission. Neither Harry nor Hermione would tell me what this mission entails, but Harry lent me this map and gave me permission to share it with the two of you, but no one else. Harry's father, James Potter, his godfather, Sirius Black, their friend Remus Lupin, and the filthy double crosser who betrayed Harry's parents, Peter Pettigrew, were the manufacturers of the map ."
"It's rightfully Harry's," cooed Luna.
"It is," agreed Ginny instantly, "I will return it to him at the appropriate time. It would be useless to Harry on whatever mission he and Hermione are going on because it only has any actual use at Hogwarts."
"Why is that?" asked Neville curiously.
"It shows everyone at Hogwarts, where they are, what they are doing, every minute, of every day. Apparently, Filch confiscated the Marauder's Map from James, Sirius, Remus, and the filthy double crosser back in the day. Fred and George nicked from Filch's office in their first year," explained Ginny, "In their fifth and Harry's third year, Fred and George gave the Marauder's Map to Harry to allow to sneak into Hogsmeade when he didn't have permission to go as it also shows seven secret passages into Hogsmeade, most of which of either blocked off or known about by Filch, but there's one that's still useful. But, we need to use it to avoid detection by people such as Snape, the Carrows, Filch, and Marietta Edgecombe."
"How does it work?" wondered Luna.
Ginny retrieved her wand from her right hand pocket with her right hand and pointed it at the map.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!" declared Ginny, and the map activated.
"Oh," cooed Luna, "So, Snape and Filch are in their offices, Ernie MacMillan is the library. Seamus Finnigan is asleep in the seventh year boys' dorm in Gryffindor Tower. Yeah, useful tool to avoid getting caught by the wrong people."
"How do you deactivate it then?" asked Neville, "The importance of doing so should be obvious."
In response, Ginny pointed her wand at the map and exclaimed "Mischief managed," and the map went blank again.
"Oh, cool," cooed Luna, "More seriously, I have a whole stack of D.A. coins that I have put Protean Charms on to make myself the mistress of them, since the old coins keyed to Harry will now be useless. "
"With Snape and the Carrows in charge here," said Ginny wearily, "There's no way we're going to get proper Defense Against the Dark Arts training this year. "
"Not only that," worried Neville, "But the new regime may well just drop the defense part and actually teach and encourage the Dark Arta."
"Here's what we need to do," said Luna thoughtfully, "We need to reform the D.A. But it must not be right away."
"Why not?" chorused Neville and Ginny.
"To avoid immediate suspicion," said Luna in an unusually serious voice, "We need to lure Snape, Filch, and the Carrows into a false sense of our obedience. The first few weeks, we need to be good kids and toe the line. We need to obey everything Snape and the Carrows tell us no matter how repugnant or repulsive. Early on, they will be on the lookout for rebel students. After a few weeks, after we haven't aroused any suspicions, they won't pay us any attention and we'll rebel against them undercover. We'll eventually get caught, but it will take a lot for that to happen if we put our plans into action while they aren't suspicious of us."
"Good girl," Ginny told Luna, "You've clearly thought out a plan in advance. You are a Ravenclaw through and through."
"I will change the time and date on my own coin when I want the three of us to meet in here again," said Luna in a crystal clear voice, "In the meantime, I have two things that I want all three of us to be thinking about."
"What spells and things would be most useful and valuable to learn and practice?" guessed Neville.
"Who to invite to the reformed D.A.?" thought Ginny.
"Those are the two things that we need to be thinking about," confirmed Luna, "We won't discuss either until that next meeting, but let's stay in here a little while longer tonight to think about ideas on both counts."
So, Neville, Ginny, and Luna fell silent and started to give some thought to what they should learn and practice and who should be part of the reformed group.
