Chapter 1: An Unfortunate Attack
From Chapter 15 of The Duke of Gryffinsmore Year 1: But, before he could leave the alley three gunshots pierced the air.
The last thing Archie could remember, was hearing three gunshots ringing out in between Diagon Alley and Knockturn Alley. He didn't even know he'd been shot until he woke up in St Mungo's three days later, a bandage wrapped around his chest and stomach. Archie tried to sit up, but he felt a gentle hand push him down. "Don't try to sit up right now, Archie. You were shot." Veronica said. "Shot? What happened Veronica?" Archie asked.
"I believe I can answer that, Lord Andrews." Raggit, the goblin warrior that followed Archie into Knockturn Alley said from the corner. "It was a death eater by the name of Sean Price. He's the only American that is in Voldemort's inner circle. He found out that you'd executed several of Voldemort's inner circle and wanted you dead." The goblin said. Archie looked at Veronica, she nodded. "Please tell me he's been captured." Archie said.
"The aurors are tracking him as we speak, love." Veronica said pushing some hair out of Archie's face. Before Archie could say anything else, his healer John Balmor walked into the room. "Well, Archie you're a lucky man. You were shot three times, two times in the chest and once in the stomach. You lost a lot of blood due to the bullet in your stomach piercing your liver. We got several blood replenishing potions in you and we were able to get the bullet out of your liver and repair the damage. So, you're lucky you avoided needing a liver transplant. You're stable enough to leave " He said.
Archie was finally allowed to sit up, and he got up out of bed grabbing his gun and putting it back in the hip holster and putting his wand in his pocket. "Anyone got a copy of The Daily Prophet?" He asked sitting in a comfortable chair that Veronica conjured. Veronica handed Archie the paper and he looked at the front page article.
Lord Andrews Shot in Knockturn Alley!

Three days ago, while procuring potions ingredients from Knockturn Alley, His Grace, Archibald Emmanuel Andrews-Black-Gryffindor-Ravenclaw-Hufflepuff-Slytherin-Le Fey-Emrys-Peverell Duke of Gryffinsmore was shot by American death eater named Sean Price. I was leaving my office for lunch that day, when I heard the three gunshots ring out and I was one of two people in Diagon Alley who witnessed those bullets hit our monarch in the chest and stomach. I was very shocked, I'm one of the few friends that know that His Grace carries a gun when he's out in public during the summer since he doesn't always have goblin guard.
This assassination attempt, has shaken the magical world. I've been told by a liaison from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Government that Queen Elizabeth II has been informed about the attack and she is instructing Scotland Yard, MI5, and MI6 to aid the Department of Magical Law Enforcement in hunting down Mr. Price and bringing him to justice for the attempted regicide of the King of Avalon.
We at the Daily Prophet wish His Grace a speedy recovery and I will keep you posted as I get more information on his condition

Archie smiled, it was a short article, but he thought it was a good article. Archie made a mental note to send a letter to William to thank him for his kind words. "John, am I going to be able to travel like I had planned?" He asked his healer. "I don't see why not, Archie. You're stable enough to leave St Mungo's so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to travel. However, I wouldn't recommend apparating until you're completely healed. Chances of splinching increase 75% in cases of injuries like yours, so portkey travel or floo travel is what I recommend " John said. Archie nodded and a mediwitch came in to do one more vital check and to allow Archie to sign the discharge paperwork.
After signing the paperwork, Archie and Veronica used the floo to head home to the Great Mansion. A pained sigh escaped is lips, and Veronica immediately gave him a pain potion. "Maybe we should postpone our travel plans until you're completely healed Archie." Veronica told him one night as they got ready for bed.
Archie shook his head. "No, don't worry love I'll be fine. John said I'd be able to travel by floo or portkey I just can't apparate." He said. Veronica smiled and the two monarchs went to bed. The next day, Archie and Veronica flooed to Andrews Castle in Romania to spend a couple weeks outside of Avalon.
