Summary: "He is always, always looking up." Lambo-centric. [The title is supposed to mean "protect" in Italian; correct me if I'm wrong.]
As a child, despite all the lethal weaponry at hand, he is considered "too young", "inexperienced", "an annoying baby." He is supervised, played with, scolded; and when the fighting begins, he is carried away, or oftentimes, hurriedly shoved behind someone.
He finds himself looking up, up, up at the strong, sturdy backs of his family members.
He is always, always looking up.
As a preteen, the age the other Guardians began fighting, once again, he is expected to "stay back" and "let [his] older brothers handle it." He is tasked with menial chores and only occasionally allowed to guard Kyoko-nii and Haru-nii with I-Pin while the others battle. Boss wants him to "experience a normal childhood", despite his vehement protests. (If it weren't for Reborn's spartan ways, he suspects he'd never learn how to fight.)
He finds himself looking up, up, up at the irritatingly familiar backs of his comrades.
He is always, always looking up.
As a teenager, the Ten Year Bazooka is a blessing; he is finally, finally allowed to help, even if he must settle for the younger versions of his friends. (Oddly enough, he is known as "Adult Lambo.") Everything is going great until the accursed Ring Battle wherein he is easily beaten and runs crying back to the bazooka. Perhaps actual battle experience might have helped, he thinks bitterly. (The wreck of a future is soon forgotten; it never stays the same, after all.)
He finds himself looking up, up, up at the amused faces of his older siblings after the story is recounted.
He is always, always looking up.
As an adult, he is alone (the last one) in an utterly terrifying world with a self-proclaimed god as a world leader, fighting almost constantly to stay alive. Idly, during a rare moment of rest, he wonders if it is to make up for the lack of it in his childhood. (If only he were stronger...)
He finds himself looking up, up, up at the blackened sky (because there are no longer any backs to look up to.)
He is always, always looking up.
