Spyro: The Movie
Once upon a time, there was a prosperous, peaceful land called the Dragon Realms. In it, thousands of dragons lived together in harmony. There were many dragon species, each one with a different power breath, such as fire, water, ice, electricity, petrification, hypnotism and amnesia. No matter how odd or dangerous their abilities seemed, all dragon powers were important and useful to keep the peace in the Dragon Realms. Plus, there were abundant gems, which dragons stored in chests. When each dragon family couple laid an egg, they had to place them on some embers in order to make them hatch. In the Fire Dragon realm, a dragon couple, who were the sages of the realm, had a new baby. He was purple like amethyst, and even as a newborn, he showed to be quite spirited, and his fire breath had an incredible pyrotechnic power. Thus, he was named Spyro. His parents were so proud of him, and they knew their baby dragon would someday achieve something great that would benefit all of the Dragon Realms.
When Spyro was 8 years old, he had befriended many young dragons, like Brian, Grady and Tootie. Together, Spyro and his friends played, flew, explored and went to dragon school. One day, while he was playing in his garden, Spyro met a small glowing yellow dragonfly. With his parents' permission, he kept the dragonfly as a pet, and named him Sparx. The two became really close friends. Sparx picked up lost gems for Spyro, and in exchange, the little dragon fed him butterflies. Spyro had everything he needed. A home, a family, a pet and friends. What else did he need to be happy?
A few days later, a mother dragon was lucky to lay a golden dragon egg. But there was one tiny problem; golden eggs took quite a while to hatch. It would require a big amount of fire power to accelerate the hatching process. Spyro volunteered to help. He placed some sticks under the egg, took a deep breath and threw a powerful fire blast from his mouth. His friends were astonished!
"Wow, Spyro!" Grady said. "How do you breathe fire like that?"
"You're so amazing when it comes to lighting things up!" Tootie said.
"If only I had a firepower like yours!" Brian said.
"My firepower?" Spyro said. "Heh, it's nothing."
"Nothing normal!" Tootie said. "It would be awesome if we increase our firepower."
"I think there is a way!" Grady said. "I've heard that in Bright Bramble Woods there's a fire dragon fruit that enhances firepower in a big way!"
"Let's go search it!" Brian said. "Wanna join us, Spyro?"
"Wait up! I'll ask my parents about it!"
Spyro went with his parents to ask them for permission to go with his friends.
"Mom, dad!"
"Spyro, honey! How are you?" his mom asked.
"I'm okay, mom." Spyro answered. "I just helped a dragon mom hatch her new golden egg."
"Wow, a golden egg? That requires a lot of firepower to hatch!" his mom said.
"Ah, it was no problem. I managed to create a bonfire for her egg to hatch!"
"That's my son." His father said. "With a firepower like that, you are destined to help all dragons in the Fire Realm."
"Hey, mom and dad, can I join my friends to look for fire dragon fruit? Please? Sparx will be there to protect me!"
"Heh, okay, son. But please be careful." Spyro's dad answered.
"You never know what dangers lie around the corner." Spyro's mom said.
"Don't worry. I will take care of my friends."
"I know you will, son."
After hearing these words, Spyro left his house with a smile, followed by Sparx.
"Hey, guys! I'm coming with you!"
Brian, Tootie and Grady cheered, and the four dragon friends and Sparx went on their way to find a fire dragon fruit. They entered Burning Bramble Woods, which was a beautiful forest with lots of brambles, bushes, mushrooms and trees, and everything in it glowed red and orange, like the bright flames that gave the Fire Dragons a mean to fight through life's hazards. Just like the dragon children had heard, in this forest grew a dragon fruit that allowed young dragons to strengthen their fire breath in a faster way.
"Sparx, remember to pick up some lost gems on the way here. Our parents and neighbors might need them." Spyro said.
The four dragon friends kept walking through the woods until they found a tree full of fire dragon fruits.
"Wow!" they exclaimed.
"We found it!" Brian said.
"Come on, let's grab a bunch for everyone!" Spyro said.
The four little dragons grabbed dragon fruits one by one. But while they were at it, they were suddenly attacked by some weird creatures known as…
"Gnorcs!" Grady said.
"Run!" Tootie said.
Spyro, Sparx and their friends tried to run away from the gnorc gang. Some of them hurled nets at them, trying to catch the young dragons, but they took flight and avoided the nets. However, the gnorcs pulled out bolas and threw them at the flying young dragons. Grady, Brian and Tootie were caught by the bolas, but Spyro turned around and burned down an incoming bola with his breath. His three friends were captured by the gnorcs.
"We got some, boys!" a gnorc said.
"Let's take these dragons to the boss!" another gnorc said.
They grabbed the three young dragons and tried to get away with them. Spyro landed and watched his friends being taken away.
"Looks like I've got some work to do!" Spyro said.
He and Sparx ran to rescue their friends. Meanwhile, Tootie, Brian and Grady were taken to the gnorcs's big boss… Gnasty Gnorc!
"Well, well, well…" Gnasty Gnorc said. "Looks like we've caught ourselves three fine young dragons. The adult dragons will surely pay a good ransom for them."
"Stop right there!" someone said.
It was Spyro. The brave little purple dragon had come to save his friends.
"Let my friends go!"
Gnasty Gnorc laughed at Spyro.
"Or what? You're gonna poke me with those tiny horns of yours? You're just a puny little dragon. You're no match for the ruler of the gnorcs!"
"I may be small, but you have no idea what I'm capable of! I've got the support of my dad, my mom, and my loved ones."
"Oh, yeah? Just try it, small fry. Men, get him!"
The army of gnorcs charged toward Spyro, but he was quick, so he jumped and rolled from one side to another, flaming the gnorcs and charging at them. In a matter of seconds, the gnorcs were defeated."
"This is gonna be more of a challenge. I like it. Alright, my turn."
The other gnorcs stepped back. Gnasty Gnorc slowly walked toward Spyro. The young dragon bravely approached the giant gnorc while growling. Both of them stared at each other in the eye, menancingly. Then the fight began. Dragon and gnorc charged at each other. Gnasty Gnorc raised his club and tried to strike Spyro, but he lowered his head, charged forward and slashed Gnasty Gnorc in the side of his body with his horns. The gnorc king got furious and repeatedly slammed his club around, trying to squash Spyro, but the young dragon swiftly evaded the attacks, waited for Gnasty Gnorc to tire out and flamed him in the behind. The gnorc boss only got even madder and swang his club in circles and circles like a whirlwind until he got dizzy and fell on his back. Spyro then jumped over him and horn dived into his chest. Gnasty Gnorc howled in pain before Spyro got off him. Then, Gnasty Gnorc got up, panting, and said.
"You… not bad, for a petty little lizard. But this isn't over! We will be back!"
Gnasty Gnorc and his minions retreated. Spyro ran to free his friends.
"Wow, Spyro! You saved us!" Grady said.
"Thank you so much!" Tootie said.
"We knew you'd come help us." Brian said.
"You're welcome." Spyro said. "Now let's get out of here before they return!"
Spyro and his friends grabbed the fire dragon fruits returned safely to the Fire Dragon realm. Brian, Grady and Tootie begged Spyro not to tell anyone about what happened.
"Your secret is safe with me." Spyro said.
"Great!" Brian said. "Now we can eat these fire dragon fruits so we have more powerful fire breaths like you!"
"Thank you, Spyro!" Grady said.
"Bye!" Tootie said.
Spyro's friends headed back to their homes. Meanwhile, Spyro headed back to his house, where his mom and dad were waiting for him.
"Spyro, are you okay?" his mom asked.
"Yeah, mom. I'm fine. We just picked up some dragon fruits and came back home in one piece!"
"I knew you would, my son." His dad said. "I know our clan is safe with you."
"Thanks, dad." Spyro said. "Your support is the greatest blessing I could have."
Spyro and his parents hugged. The heat of Spyro's flame was indeed powerful, but there was one heat that was even more powerful, and it was that of the warm embraces his parents gave him.
Meanwhile, Gnasty Gnorc and his army returned to a gloomy castle. They had come to tell the bad news to their actual boss, a dark dragon named Malefor.
"I'm sorry, Lord Malefor." Gnasty Gnorc said. "We couldn't catch any dragons for ransom. Somebody got in the way."
"And who was that somebody, may I ask?" Malefor said.
"It was… a tiny purple dragon."
"A purple dragon? That sounds strangely concerning. I demand answers, right about now!"
A robed figure holding a mysterious book walked into view and stood in front of Malefor's throne.
"Sir… I found a prophecy about a purple dragon." The robed figure said. "It was said 20 years ago that a purple dragon would be born. Said dragon would become the hero of the Dragon Realms and would remain as their guardian forever, bringing everlasting peace to all dragon races."
"A future dragon hero, huh?" Malefor said. "I cannot allow that to happen. The only dragon that should earn everyone's respect is me! Looks like it's time to raid the Fire Dragon realm! But this time, I'll do it my own way. General Gaur, prepare your ape troops! Tonight, we put an end to this threat to my reign!"
Back at the Fire Dragon Realm, things were going calmly. All dragons were preparing to go to the bed with their sons and daughters, including Spyro and his parents. Later at night, inside their home, Spyro's dad was reading a book, Spyro's mum was knitting a scarf for her son, while Spyro was just playing with his toys. Suddenly, the ground began shaking. Dragons outside were heard murmuring. Then, the Realm was attacked by Malefor's ape troops! Dozens of apes attacked dragon homes, searching for the purple dragon who was mentioned in the prophecy. Many dragons fought back, but they were eventually outnumbered by the apes. Upon seeing all of this chaos through the window, Spyro's dad was devastated. Then he looked at his wife and said:
"It is time."
"Spyro, quick, go hide!" his mother said.
"But mom, dad, what is happening?" Spyro asked, scared.
"There are monsters out there, and they are looking for you." His dad explained.
"Me? But why?"
"See, you are no ordinary dragon, Spyro." His mom said.
"You are a purple dragon, the one who is going to become a great hero and protector of all Dragon Realms."
"Really?"
"Yes. Sorry we didn't tell you sooner." Spyro's dad said. "But now, we must make sure you live."
"There is something else we didn't tell you before." Spyro's mom said. "We have magic powers."
"Wow…"
"And we're going to use them to keep you safe for a while until you grow into a strong, young dragon."
"But, how? And what will happen to you?"
"Don't worry about us, son. You will see us again, when you have become a hero."
Each of Spyro's parents formed a circle with their hands, and magically, a stone cover began forming around Spyro. Then, he noticed his parents were turning into stone, too!
"Mom, dad!" Spyro cried. "What are you…?"
"It's the only way we can be safe, Spyro."
"But we're gonna be fine. You will remain in there for some time. And when you reach the age to be a dragon hero, you will be freed and fulfill your destiny. Then, we'll be together again."
"But…"
"We know you can do it…"
"We love you, son."
Suddenly, Spyro fell into a deep sleep, as he was encased in an egg shaped stone, and his parents turned into statues. Meanwhile, the apes had wrecked all of the Fire Dragon Realm, stolen unhatched dragon eggs and gem chests, and took the defeated dragons as prisoners.
"Hey, did you see any purple dragon?" one ape said.
"Nuh-uh." another one replied.
"Do you think he escaped?"
"Nah, we would have seen him easily. I think was buried in all of this wreckage."
"Yeah, let's tell the boss the purple dragon is done for."
"He'll be happy to know that there no longer is a menace to his reign!"
Thus, the ape army left the place, unaware that among the demolition they had left behind, there were two dragon statues, formerly the sages of the Fire Dragon Realm, and a stone egg, in which the young dragon who held the fate of all Dragon Realms in his claws, had fallen into a deep slumber…
