Peter told himself to survey the area for a bit longer, even thought he should head home by now. 'New York never sleeps.' The truth is, he just wants to avoid his aunt's new boyfriend. At first he thought May moved on from Ben, now he is sure she dates toxic men to cope. No wonder where he got his terrible coping mechanisms from.
As he tried to come up with an excuse not to come home while sitting on a building near by, his phone rang. Peter did not recognize the number. Out of desperation, he took the risk and accepted the call. Before Peter could say a peep, he heard, "Steve! Come to the Tower! The pirate is here! He demands an Avenger meeting, now!"
Peter was confused to what 'pirate' is supposed to mean, then he was frozen in shock when the word 'Avenger' fell. He then realized the voice, a voice he heard on the TV and the internet so often. Tony Stark, Iron Man. He heard again, "Steve?" He thought he called Captain America!
Peter corrected him, "Sorry, wrong number, Mr. Iron Man." Peter could face palm. He mixed 'Mr. Stark' and 'Iron Man'.
"Shit! Who did I call?"
"Spider-Man." he replied.
"Spider-Man? Yeah, kid, sure." answered Iron Man.
"Do you want proof? Video chat, maybe?" offered Peter. "Or we could end the call. It sounds like you need to attend a meeting, Sir."
"Video chat, kid." demanded Iron Man. So they switched. Tony then saw the vigilante on his screen. "Oh, it is you! Good. Fury bugged us for a while to contact you."
"Really?" To some extend, this worried Peter.
"Just to access if you pose a danger. But seeing you on video…" said Iron Man. "You're just a kid with powers. At most, you're a danger to yourself."
"That is a new insult I've heard." muttered Peter, remembering the things J. Jonah Jameson had called him since he became Spider-Man.
"This is not an insult, kid." told him Iron Man. "Well, I need to go. Have a nice day-eh, night."
"Have a nice night, Iron Man." said Peter, ending the call. He was still hyped that he talked to Iron Man. Peter felt good, even though his Spider-Sense was acting up.
Tony was somehow not late to the Meeting. Steve (and Loki) was. When the two came, Nick Fury said, "Has anyone an idea how we could contact Spider-Man?"
"No?" said Hawkeye. "For all we know the guy doesn't even have a phone."
Black Widow countered, "He had proven multiple times to be technologically inclined."
"Oh, he has a phone. I just phoned him." said Tony. "If you don't believe me, I can play you the recording Friday made."
Black Widow – Natasha – blinked. "Why in the world were you calling Spider-Man?"
"How do you have the Man of Spider's number?" added Thor.
Friday answered. "We tried to call Mr. Rogers' on his new number. It is only one digit off of Spider-Man's. It was an accident."
"How do you know it is Spider-Man?" demanded Fury. "How do you know it wasn't some kid pranking you?"
"Video Chat." said Tony. "And Friday had been tracking him."
"I tracked his device. He moved in a way only Spider-Man's web swinging could allow." clarified the AI.
"Does that mean we have his address?" asked Clint – Hawkeye.
"Yeah." confirmed Tony. "On that note, he sounded young. Total teen voice."
"So, a kid with powers." muttered Fury. "Great."
"I say, we pay him a visit tomorrow." decided Steve.
The Avengers were not sure when Friday lead them to a somewhat dingy apartment complex in Queens.
"Come on, aunt May! Seriously?" they heard someone yell.
Tony told them, "That's the kid!"
"I can confirm, it is his voice." chimed Friday in.
The Avengers followed the yelling to one of the highest stories of the building. There they saw a young woman and a teen arguing while a man carried out some stuff out of an apartment.
"You should have thought about this before you stole David's wallet!" shouted the woman. "It may surprise you, but I do not want a thief in my apartment."
"Yet you keep David who took my college fund!" countered the teen, Peter.
"That was my money!" said May.
"No, it was my parents money I inherited after they died." pointed Peter out. "My point still stands, David is the thief here. Not me!"
"My kid needs it more." argued the man, David.
"Should we interfere?" asked Clint.
"Not yet." answered Tony as they watched from the corner.
"Your ex can pay. She drives a Porsche, doesn't she?" snapped Peter. "But god forbid a parent actually takes care for their child." He looked to May accusingly. "How do you know Jayden didn't take the wallet?"
"My son would never steal!" roared David, dropping a bag.
"So would I! I wasn't even home until eleven!" pointed Peter out.
David then grabbed Peter by the shoulders, "Prove it, rat!"
"Now!" said Tony and the Avengers came to the trio. Steve ripped Peter away from David. Then he pinned David to the wall to the apartment.
"Who are you?" demanded May to know. "Why are you here?"
"We are the Avengers." said Tony. "We are here because we want to talk to Peter. You see, I accidentally video called him yesterday. I can confirm he wasn't home until eleven. My AI tracked him."
"Eh?" Peter fucked up. This means they know he is Spider-Man.
"Come on, kid. I always check the numbers that connect to my phone." told him Iron Man.
"But he-"
"Mrs." - He checks the sign at the bell. - "Parker, your nephew comes with us. You wanted to kick him out, didn't you?"
Peter just rolled with this. He was too relieved to get away from David, Jayden, Ashleigh – who definitively contaminated his bed with who knows how many STD's at this point – and May's terrible coping mechanism. As they left the building, Peter asked weakly, "What now?"
"Now, we sort you out." decided Steve. "In that regard, you may need to speak out about some things against your aunt."
"With pleasure. I have so much to say." Steve looked at him worried. "May's a lost cause."
Nick was – even though Stark told him already – surprised that Spider-Man is a kid. Processing what the Avengers had told him, he decided, "Well, it is clear that his aunt is unfit. The kid needs a legal guardian."
"Figured." quipped Tony.
"However, due to his powers, it should be someone from S.H.I.E.L.D., maybe Coulson or Barton?"
"Not sure my wife agrees." said Barton. "I promised her my job won't influence our family too much."
"I don't think Coulson could take care of a plant, let alone a kid." pointed Tony out. "Hey, I could take him!"
"You're worse than Coulson!" said Steve. "But I agree, he should stick with us. Maybe we could split guardianship?"
"As long as we keep Loki out, sure." agreed Tony. "Now, when this is done, I need to find dirt on May Parker and her boyfriend."
When he returned to school, he made bee line to Ned. His best friend knew a lot. That he is Spidey, his AI he works on – coming up with a name is difficult – and that May and David, as well as David's kids, are utter pieces of work. Ned also knows that calling CPS only does things worse, because May and David are sometimes good actors and the CPS sucks. Ned called them and had not seen Peter for two weeks.
"Ned! Good news!" he greeted his friends.
"What happened to hello? Now what is it?" asked Ned. "Did you come up with a name?"
"No! Better. I got away from May and David!" announced Peter happily. "Remember the call?"
He had his prototype message Ned about the call. Ned replied with equal hype. "Oh yeah, awesome! But seriously, aren't you worried he'll track you?"
"Oh, he did! But this is good, Ned!" said Peter as he got his stuff from his locker. "He and some other Avengers came to talk to me when May kicked me out. So, uh, I live with them, now. Keep silent, Ned!"
"I try, but this is awesome." whisper shouted Ned.
"I know!" agreed Peter.
Then, Jayden and Ashleigh Lewis passed the entrance. Both of them do not belong into Midtown Tech, but his college fund got them in anyway.
Then again, Ashleigh probably would slept her way in. Jayden? Well, he doesn't want to be here. The wannabe drug lord has other things to do. Both looked pissed at Peter. Ned asked jokingly, "What do you think, do they still demand you do their homework?"
"They can try. Makes to sue them just easier." answered Peter. "My new guardians try to sue them for everything."
"So, you get your fund back?"
"Maybe? Not that I need it anymore." said Peter. "But some payback would be nice."
"Yeah." Before David came, Peter was more docile. Now he is more snappy, he bites back more, albeit Ned isn't sure how much of this comes from being Spidey. He sometimes misses the more docile Peter. But maybe he returns, now that he is away from the Lewis. "Do you think I can visit the tower?"
Peter was warming up to the Avengers. To Tony's annoyance Peter hit it off with Loki instantly of all people. As he came into the community room, an over-sized living room to compensate everyone, he said, "Okay, I've sued May and David for everything and a bit more."
"Tony, did you lie to the courts again? You can't just come up with stuff!" said Natasha disappointed. "Not that you have to, for that."
"No, I just warned some universities and schools of Ashleigh and Jayden." said Tony.
"Mr. Stark! That is unnecessarily petty!" said Peter. "Thank you."
