I was going to leave this AU alone but then a plot bunny slammed the door open and was like 'WHAT ABOUT DANI?' and wouldn't leave even though I have vague proximate memories of Danny Phantom. So I guess I'm going to occasionally drop a chapter here and there now. *shrugs*

I ended up writing this in like 10 minutes. Hopefully the plot bunnies have been pleased by this offering. :O

This is based on the episode Kindred Spirits. I honestly thought that Dani did meet Jack and Maddie in that episode but a wiki check says no.

Faizul is the name/title of the guy Cass killed when she was eight. The wording of her wiki page makes it ambiguous over if it's actually his name or not because it means 'Bookman' in Macau.

Part 2: Some Plans Fail At First Contact

Dani had only been in the Fenton household for a few hours when she realized that the mission may have been compromised at first contact.

For one, the Fentons spent the dinner asking odd questions such as 'Does your father know you're here?' and 'do we need to reimburse you the tickets from New Jersey?' ('Yes, he does.' Vlad was the one to send her after all. 'No worries!' Why did they think she's from New Jersey of all places?)

And then finally, the older sister, Jazz, asked, "So why 'Dani?'"

"Why not?" replied Dani as she shrugged, "Couldn't think of anything else."

All four Fentons made weird faces before nodding understandingly.

"Cool," said her template as he stuck a fork into the screaming hot dog, "now that jerk has no way of getting you."

"Yeah!" agreed Dani nervously. (Who is Danny talking about?)

Maddie and Jack shared glances before they both smiled strained smiles.

The two adults retreated to the kitchen afterwards. Dani snuck up to the doorway to listen in on the hushed conversation.

"How did they find out about us? I thought they never knew about the other baby." The what?

"Maybe Wayne asked one of his city's weirdos. Probably the big one." Who?

"Makes sense..." Maddie tapped a finger against her chin, "but Cassandra didn't seem to know what we were talking about."

"Maybe she's been overtaken by a ghost," Jack suggested.

"Not by Faizul that's for sure," Maddie reluctantly agreed, "he would've brought her here by now."

Dani got the feeling that she needed to get out of here. Right now.

"We can always ask him when he comes by."

"Didn't he give Danny some sort of thing to summon him?" Oh crud.

Dani carefully backed away and went up the stairs to the guest room Danny and Jazz prepared for her. She opened the door and found no one inside. Sighing in relief, she opened the window and climbed out.

A ghost was waiting for her. It wasn't the clone she and Vlad prepared.

"You're not her," he frowned. "Who sent you?"

"None of your business," growled Dani before transforming. She shot a beam at the ghost who immediately dodged.

"Woah!" said Phantom as he arrived at the scene.

"Help me!" Dani quickly shouted, pitching her voice to a fearful tone, "he attacked me!"

"I most certainly did not," grumbled the ghost.

"I'll take it from here, Faizul," frowned Phantom, "you go warn the Fentons."

Faizul nodded before flying into the house. Dani cursed under her breath. The mission Vlad gave her was a failure. There's no way she can salvage this now.

A wisp of icy air leaves Phantom's lips and a familiar growl reaches her ears. She turns to see her brother approaching.

Well. Maybe she can.

Later, after Vlad is once again defeated:

Danny: Yeah so I have a twin sister I've never actually met so its possible you're her clone instead. Somehow.

Dani: What.

Danny: Its a very long story.

As for the Fentons, Danny tells them that it appears that David Cain tried to recreate his weapon by cloning Cass and still managed to mess it up. Faizul reluctantly admits that its possible. The Fentons then decide that Dani is theirs now.

I don't know when the Waynes will find out about the Fentons. Clockwork is doing his best to keep this particular timeline on the right track so they don't until the right moment but good luck with that when there's speedsters who can accidentally butterfly effect things in and out of existence.
