In a distant and colorful world, events began unfolding. In a particular zone of this world, it was very green with many hills and the occasional loop de loops. The wind softly blew across the zone. The creatures played and slept. And then, a large gust of wind approached, yet to the creatures it seemed perfectly normal. Then a blue blur ran through the land.
A creature ran through the Green Hill Zone. He wore red shoes, white gloves, and most of all his quills were blue. This was Sonic the Hedgehog, the fastest creature alive.
"Hm," he smirked.
He jumped off a rock which acted as a ramp. He then spun himself a ball and ran through a loop de loop. He began running back on his feet as he enjoyed his runs. Then his wrist communication device beeped. Then Sonic realized that it was a communication from his best friend, Miles Prower or better referred to as Tails.
"Yo Tails! What's up?" Sonic asked. "Hey Sonic, just checking in," Tails said. "You know me Tails. Free-living and running at the speed of sound," Sonic said. "Only Sonic the Hedgehog could run forever," Tails said. "You know it," Tails said. "Well, I'll keep in touch," Tails said. "Alright, over and out," Sonic said.
Sonic continued running as he ran up one of the largest hills in Green Hill and he stood on top, overviewing the entire zone. He then took a deep breath and he simply enjoyed the view.
"Oh, I love my life," he said.
Sonic's wrist communication device began beeping once more, and Sonic picked it up.
"Sonic, do you read me?" Tails asked. "Loud and clear," Sonic said. "There's something I need to show you. Do you mind meeting me at my workshop?" Tails asked. "No problem. I'll be there faster than you can say chili dog buddy," Sonic said.
Sonic took one more look towards Green Hill, and he ran down the hill towards a small workshop. Meanwhile, across the universe, Meta Knight placed the Convergence Crystal he had on a table, where Marth and Ike inspected it.
"I come from a different world, but this crystal, it is one of the most powerful artifacts in this universe," Meta Knight said. "I'm sorry, but I'm still trying to gain an understanding of this. These enemies of yours, they're after this?" Marth asked. "Yes. They had ambushed me, taken my ship, and now I am here, but I still have it," Meta Knight said. "Then why don't you destroy it," Ike said. "It is an artifact of immense unknownst to us all. I am unsure of what would happen if we even attempt to destroy it," Meta Knight said.
Meta Knight paced toward a nearby window, looking at the scorned battlefield. He then let out a big breath.
"Aside from leaving my world to get this crystal out, I also seek to learn what it is, or possibly even learn from it," Meta Knight said. Marth sighed, "If this is true, how dangerous of a threat are your enemies," he said. "Dangerous enough to destroy life as we all know it," he said. "Marth, may I speak to you?" Ike asked.
Marth nodded as they walked to a corner to discuss among each other,
"How do we know this knight is as truthful as he speaks?" Ike asked, "How do we know we can trust him?" "If he was untrustworthy, I am doubtful he would've aided me in battle. He clearly knows how to act with chivalry and honor," Marth said. "Yes, but what if it was all an act? This to me sounds insane," Ike said.
Marth knew he was able to trust Ike, and a part of him believed Ike's doubts in trusting this sudden visitor. Yet, Marth deep down felt that Meta Knight's words were of the truth, yet he needed confirmation. He then turned towards Meta Knight.
"How do we know this is all true?" Marth asked. "It is right to question all of this," Meta Knight said.
The ground began to rumble. Marth and Ike looked out a window as a giant shadow covered the battlefield.
"What is that?" Marth asked. "It is not good," Meta Knight said.
A loud voice echoed throughout the battlefield, "I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!"
Sonic arrived at Tails' Workshop. As he entered he looked at Tails' various inventions through the years lined up on the tables as treasured memories of their adventures. At the end of the workshop, he found the fox taking some readings.
"Yo Tails, what's up?" Sonic asked. "Hey Sonic, glad you could make it," he said, "I'm sorry, I've got a mess here." "It's definitely more organized than the Chaotix's place. So why exactly did you call me over? I get the feeling it doesn't involve chili dogs," Sonic said. "I've been seeing some weird energy spikes through my scanners. I calculate that there are disturbances across our known universe-" Tails said. "English please," Sonic interrupted. "Right. Basically I think weird stuff is happening," Tails said. "How weird? Is it as weird as fighting Zeti on Lost Hex? Racing on hoverboards in a futuristic race track? Or Shadow admitting he loves anime?" Sonic asked. "Weirder than that, well maybe except the Shadow part," Tails said.
Like a seismometer, Tails pulled out the energy spikes he had been seeing. Sonic was still confused at what he was looking at.
"So these are energy spikes from just a couple days ago," Tails said as he pointed to the smaller spikes, "Now these spikes," he said as he pointed to larger ones, "These began happening recently." "Do you think Egghead might be up to something? It has been a while since we've seen him, and he's not one to stay quiet for long," Sonic said. "Possible," Tails said. "Anything you need me to do?" Sonic asked.
Tails took out a small device that he wrapped around one of Sonic's hands like a watch.
"I'm going to need you to power up this device," Tails said. "And how am I supposed to do that?" Sonic asked. "It's quite simple really. All you gotta do is to do what you do best," Tails said. "Hmph. Now you're talking," Sonic said, "And what exactly will it do?" "In theory, it should expedite my scanners, allowing me to get more information on this phenomenon faster," Tails said. "Sounds simple enough. Be back in a flash!" Sonic said as he ran. "Just be careful with it! And it's too late," Tails said.
Across the universe, Meta Knight, Marth, and Ike stepped outside as a huge mechanical airship. Then a giant light flashed from it, revealing a hologram of a plump man with a huge mustache and a grin.
"I, THE ESTEEMED DOCTOR EGGMAN HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE! YOU ARE NOW TRESPASSING ON TERRITORY THAT WILL SOON BECOME EGGMANLAND 2!" he announced.
"Dr. Eggman?" Ike questioned.
"SURRENDER NOW AND YOU MAY HAVE A CHANCE TO WITNESS GREATNESS!" Dr. Eggman announced.
Hundreds of robots fell from the airship and landed on the battlefield. Immediately the knights within the castle came out and prepared to stand against these robots. Then the sky was filled by the presence of a mechanical dragon known as the Egg Dragoon. It hovered in front of the robot army, and within the dragon, Dr. Eggman piloted it.
"Of course, you'll still witness greatness from the Eggman Empire!" Dr. Eggman yelled with a grin.
Marth stepped out and unsheathed his sword and pointed it at the robot army.
"I do not care who you are. You are merely an enemy I have yet to defeat, and today you will be defeated," Marth said. "Hm, so this is your prince? Alright, you asked for it," Dr. Eggman said, "ATTACK!"
The robot army began to charge forward. Some hovered over the battlefield, while others rolled over.
"Defend the kingdom!" Marth yelled.
The knights roared as they charged forward. The robots began shooting projectiles and many knights were hit until some blocked the attacks by their shields. Meta Knight and Ike ran toward Marth.
"Who is this?" Marth asked. "I do not know, but he may be one of the enemies I have been speaking of," Meta Knight said. "Whoever he is, he will not defeat us," Ike said,
At that moment, the Egg Dragoon flew over them.
"Prepare to meet your end!" Dr. Eggman announced. "Scatter!" Meta Knight yelled.
The Egg Dragoon shot out drills and as Marth, Ike, and Meta Knight jumped out of the way. The arm of the Egg Dragoon transformed into a cannon which began firing. Meta Knight charged ahead and slashed the projectiles in midair.
"Oh, you think you're so good!" Dr. Eggman yelled, "Well take this!"
The Egg Dragoon fired ice from its feet. As Meta Knight's sword collided with an attack, his sword was frozen in a block of ice. Marth ran towards its side, attempting to flank it, but the Egg Dragoon swung its arm which forced Marth to jump back.
"Don't even think about it!" Dr. Eggman yelled, "You cannot begin to comprehend my intellect!" "Great Aether!" Ike yelled. "What?!" Dr. Eggman yelled.
Ike appeared from behind him and stabbed his sword directly into the Egg Dragoon and gave it a huge slice. The Egg Dragoon combusted and Dr. Eggman seemingly fell out. Once the dust cleared, the three checked it out and realized that this was not the real Dr. Eggman, but a decoy.
"A decoy," Meta Knight said. "DID YOU THINK I'D MAKE IT THAT EASY?!" Dr. Eggman announced. "Come down and fight!" Ike yelled. "HM, IT DOES SOUND INTRIGUING, BUT I'LL LET MY CREATIONS HANDLE THE DIRTY WORK!" Dr. Eggman announced.
A warrior on a white horse arrived and slashed the robots. He then jumped off and met with Marth.
"Roy, you have finally arrived," Marth said. "Yeah, and I arrive to see chaos," Roy said. "It is a long story," Ike said.
Suddenly a large shadow loomed over everything. They looked to the sky as a large object covered the sun.
"OH, I SEE YOU'VE MET MY DEATH EGG!" Dr. Eggman announced. "Death Egg?" Roy questioned.
They looked as if the Death Egg had an appearance to a Moon, but with the face of Dr. Eggman.
"MAX POWER!" Dr. Eggman announced.
The Death Egg began to light up and charge.
"SO LONG FOOLS!" Dr. Eggman announced.
The Death Egg launched a laser, capable of destroying the entire planet. Everyone braced for impact, until the Convergence Crystal Meta Knight held began to shine brightly. The laser stopped. Everyone slowly opened their eyes and looked as a bright barrier was blocking the laser from the Death Egg. Meta Knight took out the Convergence Crystal.
"This power… it is protecting the world," Meta Knight said.
Inside his airship, and observed the Convergence Crystal within Meta Knight's hands, and he had a big grin on his face.
"There it is," he said.
Outside, the airship began dropping more robots.
"SEIZE THE CONVERGENCE CRYSTAL!" Dr. Eggman announced. "Looks like we've been made a target," Marth said. "Protect the crystal!" Meta Knight yelled.
The four swordsmen stood together, ready to defend the Convergence Crystal with their lives from a great evil. Meanwhile in Green Hill, Sonic continued running. As he run, he noticed his friend, Amy Rose walking along a path.
"Yo Amy," he said as he skidded to a halt. "Sonic, how are you doing?" Amy asked. "Oh pretty good. Just doing a bit of running for Tails. Can't stop for long," Sonic said. "Oh, that's a shame. I would've invited you to my picnic," Amy said. "Hm, it sounds tempting, but I just need to calm down my little buddy first, but I'll happily take you up on that offer," Sonic said. "Hm, alright," Amy said. "Later!" Sonic said as he continued running as Amy waved at him.
Sonic continued running, and once he spotted a loop de loop he spun into a ball and ran through the loop de loop.
"Whoo yeah! Oh I love this place!" Sonic yelled.
Sonic ran ahead. He ran for so long to the point he saw the big floating island in the clouds, Angel Island.
"Huh, Angel Island. Well I should give Knuckles a quick visit," Sonic said.
Sonic found a ramp on the way and he ran as fast as he could to launch himself all the way to the sky, right in front of the Altar of the Emerald, where the big Master Emerald rested, and in front it's red guardian, Knuckles guarded it.
"Sonic, what are you doing here?" Knuckles asked. "I was running and I was in the neighborhood and decided to give my good ol' friend, Knuckles a visit," Sonic said. "Hmph," Knuckles groaned. "So, guarding is as boring as usual, or have you found more rocks for your collection?" Sonic asked. "I'll have you know I have, and it is not boring because as guardian of the Master Emerald I must-" Knuckles said. "Be vigilant and blah blah blah. I've heard it all over again," Sonic interrupted. "Hmm," Knuckles groaned. "Right, see you're not really in the talking mood, as always. Welp, see ya!" Sonic said as he jumped off the island. "That hedgehog," Knuckles complained.
Sonic returned back to Green Hill where he kept running until he got a call from Tails.
"Looks like I got my data ready Sonic. I'll tell you what I find, and thanks," Tails said. "Right, you're welcome little buddy. I'll meet up with you in a flash," Sonic said.
Sonic continued running, ready to reunite with Tails, but ahead of him, a blur of black and red quickly approached him.
"AH!" Sonic screamed.
Suddenly Sonic received a punch to his face that knocked him back.
Dr. Eggman's troops were relentless, but the combined might of Marth, Ike, Roy, and Meta Knight fought back bravely and strategically, dealing with many robots. In his airship, Dr. Eggman watched as his army was failing.
"Of course, these badniks can never do anything right," Dr. Eggman said. He pressed a button on his console. "Metal, is your time to shine!" Dr. Eggman ordered.
In the depths of the airship a pair of red eyes suddenly turned on. On the battlefield, Meta Knight finally slashed one of the last remaining robots.
Marth panted, "Those were simple to defeat, but there were many." "Indeed," Meta Knight said. "Alright, I think I believe you now," Ike said. "And I still don't know what is happening," Roy said. "But the fight is not done," Meta Knight said.
A loud noise was heard. An object flew out of the airship at fast speed. Meta Knight was about to react until suddenly a blue blur flew past him. Meta Knight stared into its red menacing eyes. Then this mechanical beast immediately punched Roy back.
"Roy!" Marth yelled.
Marth charged forward but the robot was too fast and avoided his attack and kicked him in the back towards Roy.
"Great-" Ike yelled as he jumped above the robot but the robot immediately punched him in the stomach, "Oof!" Ike yelped, and then the robot grabbed him by the arm and threw him. The robot then faced Meta Knight.
"AH, ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE TO ONE OF MY FINEST CREATIONS! METAL SONIC!" Dr. Eggman announced. Metal Sonic hovered up and mechanically growled. "No matter, he'll be defeated like the others," Meta Knight said.
Metal Sonic immediately charged forward, and Meta Knight barely managed to dodge. Then Meta Knight charged at Metal Sonic but Metal Sonic immediately dodged.
"HOHOHOHOHO!" Dr. Eggman laughed, "YOU CANNOT STOP METAL! GIVE UP!" Dr. Eggman announced.
Metal Sonic launched projectiles at Meta Knight. Meta Knight immediately sliced the projectiles in midair but this gave Metal Sonic the chance to charge at him and launch him backwards. Meta Knight extended his wings and landed on his feet. Then the others ran toward him and they stood together, but Metal Sonic already held the Convergence Crystal in its hands.
"OH HO HO HO HO! NICE WORK METAL!" Dr. Eggman announced. "No!" Meta Knight yelled.
He was about to charge in until Metal Sonic blasted off at full speed back to the airship.
"NOW SAY GOODBYE TO THIS PATHETIC WORLD!" Dr. Eggman announced.
The Airship activated its engines and began flying away as it opened a dark portal.
"We can't let him get away!" Meta Knight yelled. "No," Marth said.
The Death Egg began charging up its laser and once again fired upon this world successfully, and then everything went dark…
Except a single star that still shined flew from this darkness.
