sword dragon and the phoenix -chapter 26 – monsters and odds
this chapter will cover the match vs team Ichigaki and his modified humans monsters
pov will mostly be Yusuke with a little of my own content mixed in

Shirou pov
As Yusuke and Kuwabara woke up, I told them how Ravel was in the hotel, and I arranged a room for her and a few of the other girls. Then I told Kuwabara "Yukina chooses to go to Kou next term and how Mordred was helping to ready the snow woman prepare for school and Artoria was preparing special tools to keep from releasing her powers around normal humans." Then I explained how the mist couldn't do all the work for her. After that Kuwabara mentioned having dream visions about the next fight.
After that, the taller boy mentioned about the yokai team members were not in the room, but Yusuke said they would likely meet us at the arena. Then on the may there, a teen boy met us and Yusuke guessed he Koenma's brother but we learned the boy was a different form of the prince of the spirit world and that he only had an adopted older sister, named Beni. After that the deity mentioned that Yusuke's spirit beast was close to hatching and after it did Yusuke's powers would grow. Then the prince asked about Yusuke mastering the spirit wave only for the pawn piece of the peerage to reveal he had yet to master the spirit wave.
After that we met the team Ichigaki and Kuwabara revealed to me what happened to the members of this team and that this Yokai doctor modified these three human members of the team to help their master. Then the yokai revealed he used special parasites to push these humans to high levels. After that the doctor and I made a bet that if his team wins, they get Yusuke and if our team wins, we bring him to the devil leadership team. After that the masked fighter added that the fight would be three on three and I guessed she needed them all in the ring at the same time to remove their parasites.
Yusuke pov
I knew the masked fighter's choice to make this fight three on three was for the best due to my devil magic starting to adapt to my body and blocking my spirit power until it fully did. It was before the fight Shirou said to me "you need to find your trigger to win this." After that the masked fighter told she met these three and their master and after that Kuwabara told us the strange devices on their backs were the puppet strings on these three fighters.
As the three fighters attacked, I couldn't see how they attacked due to the block I was under. It was like their attacks had hidden layers to them we couldn't see. But in my time of need, I still couldn't release my spirit power. so, I had to chase the team member that went after my friend. At the same time, I did, Shirou ran out of the arena and I could only guess he was after the lab and the master of these three fighters.
Shirou pov
As the fight went on I got a text from Kurama asking for help and soon came to find they were dealing with a mechanized yokai. But I was able to take the mechanized monster out with ease and get the last member of the team to take us to Ishigaki's lab so that we would save their master and recover any notes he had. while hoping Yusuke could unlock his new power. But with spirit beast about to hatch, I had a feeling it may have been the third fact to Yusuke's issue with fully using his spirit power.
It was until the masked fighter alerted us, the three tried to gang up. as the fight kept going on, the three fighters started to mutter 'kill' as the mad scientist kept doing math and the masked fighter was blown out of the ring. At the same time, my partner tried to talk about the three out of their rage states. it was after the next wave of attacks, the masked fighter saved us and revealed she was a young woman with pink hair. I had a feeling Shirou knew exactly who the fighter was but my honorary older brother would respect who this person was.
It wasn't much longer that Kurama and Hiei and Shirou arrived with a robot under the control of his vines, and he explained what was going on with these three and the fact they had the devices attached to their wills. After that the scientist yokai spilled the beans that he did everything. Shirou then said to the yokai "these guys are strong but stand no chance against Toguro, hell they couldn't even face half the other monsters I have seen. You are just gonna earn yourself a bounty from the church for this." But the mad doctor didn't even care about these three and wanted me for his next levels of research.
After that the three fighters attacked Kuwabara and smacked us down. After that he explained there was nothing, we could do to get the three fighters out of their current state. After that Kuwabara tried to stand in the way to bring the three out of control by talking and taking their attacks. He wasn't letting me get involved and let himself get smacked out of the ring in a bloody heap.
Then after that, the three stopped and started to cry tears of blood then started to say, "kill us." with that the masked fighter revealed the now had enough control to leave Kuwabara hurt but alive and then said the three were still not able to fight the parasites on themselves. It was then Shirou put something on my partner and said "he should be recovered soon enough. But I can tell his sacrifice broke through your wall."
With that I felt the power flowing through me and was about to fight back. I then attacked the dark-haired member of the trio and after that figured out how to combat the other two members and see their full attacks. With that I could tell the mixing of the spirit beast, and the demonic magic were causing my spirit power to overflow. I was then about kill the trio with a super powered spirit gun next.
But as I was about to make the kill, the masked fighter stopped me and said, "let me take over." I then let her do what she was going to do. What was chanting some kind of spell that unleashed light. The three controlled humans they prepared to attack only to be caught in her spell and said spell formed a light barrier that trapped the trio so the fighter could stick fingers into their hearts. The move then purged the strange devices from the three humans. after that the formally controlled men passed out and then the fox lady announcer did the count to ten.
After the mad scientist tried to weasel out of the Yusuke preparing to deal the fatal blow by using the master of the trio as bait but soon enough Shirou brought him out and said with "Kurama's medicine and phoenix tears he will be up to full health in no time." After that the mad doctor yokai used a drug to hulk out only for Shirou to throw three long blades at his shadow and then I fired a spirit gun to deal the final blow. A few moments after that, the three humans got up again and cried while turning their backs on the master.
But as we waited around, Shirou went over to Kuwabara and did some kind of healing on him but said "this should heal him back take a little time." But as he said that an announcement rang out saying we would have to prepare to fight in the next round right now. With that several figures in strange robes appeared to fight us.
With that we went over our changes and it was pretty much going to be a two on five match with only Kurama and I in full health. There was a small chance Kuwabara might be able to fight and if Hiei's crazy dragon arm absorbed enough power he might be able to fight as well.
It was after that a member stepped forward to become the team leader and it was a red-haired oni with wind powers. Kurama soon revealed the team was yokai realm ninjas known as the specters of asura. They are mercenaries that solve inter-faction issues but haven't worked much in years. He knew the one that came out and Jin and said yokai ninja wanted to do a series of matches to the last man. I quickly agreed and hoped we could do it.
It was then an announcer called to medical checks for the team and soon singled out and trapped Hiei and the masked fighter in the medical tent behind a barrier I couldn't break. That left us with two fighters medically ruled to not be able to fight no matter what. Shirou then said "even I would have a hard time with the barrier but from the current readings from our first match Azael has guessed Hiei's sacred gear is still learning and taking elements of the world around it into itself. Including strange spirit powers." Yusuke then asked me "what does that mean?" I replied "the dragon inside his arm will eat the barrier if given enough time. But we also have another issue our current opponent is flexing around money and depending on how things go Ravel may need to flex her own money,"
Chapter end
Next chapter will have team Yusuke face team masho and their cheating manager and how Shirou counters
But first ichigo will fully master his fullbring and face a different problem
