Chapter 10: A Long-Awaited Reunion

Kara led Goku to the DEO headquarters, the bustling base hidden beneath National City. Agents stared curiously as the two entered, whispers spreading about the stranger in the bright orange gi.

"Who's this?" Alex asked, approaching Kara.

Kara smiled. "This is my friend, Goku. We met a long time ago during one of my first adventures."

Alex raised an eyebrow. "Friend, huh?" She looked Goku up and down, noting his broad smile and cheerful demeanor. "He doesn't look like any normal guy."

Goku waved. "Hi! I'm Goku! Kara's really strong, you know. We just fought this big alien together—she's amazing!"

Kara felt her cheeks warm again, but she quickly shook it off. "Goku's not exactly normal either," she said. "He's a Saiyan. Think of him as Earth's strongest fighter."

Alex crossed her arms, intrigued. "Well, if he's your friend, I'm sure he's good. But we'll still need to check him out."

"No problem!" Goku said cheerfully, completely unfazed.

As the DEO agents ran their scans on Goku—though he seemed oblivious to the process—Kara pulled him aside to talk.

"It's been so long," she said, leaning against a desk. "What brings you to National City?"

Goku shrugged. "I just wanted to see how you were doing. I've been training a lot and getting stronger, but I kept thinking about you."

Kara's heart skipped a beat at his words and her cheeks turned a bit red hearing those words from Goku. She smiled. "That's sweet of you, Goku. I've been… busy. A lot's happened since we last saw each other."

She told him briefly about becoming Supergirl, fighting aliens, and her work with the DEO. Goku listened intently, his admiration for her growing with every word.

"That's so cool, Kara!" he said. "You're like a superhero!"

"Well, so are you," Kara replied, grinning. "You've always been a hero in your own way."

Goku rubbed the back of his neck, laughing. "I just like helping people. And fighting strong opponents, of course!"

Kara chuckled, her mind drifting back to their earlier battle. Seeing him in action had reminded her of how much she admired him—not just his strength but his pure heart and unwavering kindness.

Kara and Goku sat in one of the quieter rooms at the DEO, the faint hum of the facility's tech providing a calming backdrop. They had been talking for a while, sharing stories of their respective adventures.

Kara leaned back in her chair, a nostalgic smile on her face. "It's hard to believe how much has happened since we last saw each other. You've been training all this time?"

"Yeah!" Goku said, his grin infectious. "I've been trying to get stronger. But, you know, it wasn't just for me. I kept thinking about how you never stopped fighting for what's right, even when things were tough. That really stuck with me."

Kara's cheeks reddened slightly. "I... didn't know I had that kind of impact on you."

Goku scratched the back of his head, his voice softening. "You did. I missed you, Kara. A lot."

She blinked, her breath catching. "You did?"

He nodded, his smile fading into a more serious expression. "Every day, I thought about you. I don't know what it is, but I've never felt this way before. It's like... when I think of you, I feel happy and... I don't know... warm?"

Kara's heart fluttered, and she looked at him with wide eyes. For someone as straightforward and pure-hearted as Goku, such words carried a depth of sincerity that left her speechless.

"I missed you too," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper. "You're... special, Goku."

He grinned, the simplicity of his joy making her smile despite herself. "Thanks, Kara. You're special too."

Meanwhile, just outside the room, Winn and James stood near the observation window, watching the interaction with keen interest.

"Okay," Winn whispered, nudging James. "So, this guy is the reason Kara's never given either of us a chance?"

James crossed his arms, his expression thoughtful. "Looks like it. And honestly... I kinda get it."

They both looked through the glass at Goku, who was laughing easily with Kara. Despite his carefree demeanor, there was an undeniable chemistry between them. The way Kara smiled at him—the warmth in her eyes—was something neither of them had seen before.

Winn gestured toward Goku. "Look at him. He's built like a Greek god and just helped her take down an alien like it was nothing. No wonder she likes him."

James nodded, a hint of resignation in his voice. "He's got the muscles, the skills... and he's clearly a good guy. I mean, how do we compete with that?"

Winn sighed. "We don't. Let's just hope he's as innocent as he looks."

Kara and Goku emerged from the room, still smiling as they joined Winn and James in the main area.

"Goku," Kara said, motioning to the two men, "these are my friends, Winn Schott and James Olsen."

Goku grinned and waved. "Hi! Nice to meet you!"

Winn, ever the nervous one, offered a hesitant handshake. "Uh, nice to meet you too. So, uh... you're the guy who rides that flying cloud thing, right?"

"Yep!" Goku said enthusiastically. "The Nimbus! Only people with a pure heart can ride it. It's really fun!"

James, sizing Goku up, extended his hand. "I've heard a lot about you already. You and Kara go way back?"

"Yeah," Goku said, shaking his hand with surprising gentleness despite his obvious strength. "We traveled together when I was a kid. She's really amazing, you know? I'm glad I got to see her again."

Kara smiled, a soft blush tinting her cheeks. "And I'm glad you're here, Goku."

The warmth between them was palpable, and both Winn and James exchanged glances. There was no denying it: Goku and Kara cared deeply for each other.

As the group talked, Winn leaned over to James and whispered, "Okay, he's definitely innocent. But how is he that strong and that pure-hearted? It's not fair."

James chuckled. "I think that's just who he is. A rare kind of person."

"Yeah, well," Winn muttered, "if Kara's going to fall for someone, at least it's a guy like him."

James smirked. "Guess we'll just have to get used to him being around."

For Kara, seeing Goku again felt like a missing piece of her life had been restored. For Goku, being reunited with Kara brought him a happiness he couldn't quite explain.

Though neither of them knew it yet, their reunion was just the beginning of a journey that would test their bond, their strength, and their resolve as the arrival of Raditz loomed on the horizon.
