Extended Summary

Before his son, Izuku would become the hero known as The Fafnir Knight.

There was the story of his father, Hisashi: The Pro-Hero Draco Knight. From his dark, yet humble beginnings to his ultimate fate that would change everything. This is the story of how a young man rose to break away from his dark family legacy and go beyond to experience life as a Pro-Hero. From love to tragedy, the story of Black Dragon Knights answers many of the mysteries of the Untold Universe.

This is the remastered prequel companion of my main story: My Hero Academia Untold: The Knights of Fafnir

Part of the "Untold Universe."

Hello, and welcome, my dear readers!

For those of you returning, you know the drill from here.

However, for brand new readers, you may want to pay attention to this note. This story is a rebooted version of Draco Knight with a brand new title that matches the narrative and theme better. It is a prequel companion story to my main story, My Hero Academia Untold: The Knights of Fafnir. This story is to supplement and tell the background story of my version of Hisashi Midoriya, who, for this AU, is a Pro-Hero with a rather strange and sorted past. I want to note that I strongly recommend that new readers unfamiliar with the "Untold Universe" read "My Hero Academia Untold: The Knights of Fafnir" up to Chapter Four first.

While it is possible to read The Black Dragon Knights without reading Knights of Fafnir, the primary purpose of this story is to supplement and build up elements of the primary storyline. This side story will only update when we reach specific points in the main story. (Right now, this should have been uploaded shortly after Chapter 4 of the Knights of Fafnir.) This story is not told in chronological order and jumps at different points in Hisashi's life. It will answer several questions that Fafnir opens from the word go.

This prologue should instantly answer some questions for readers of the previous version and open questions for new readers. Either way, I'm going full steam ahead with this method, considering only a handful of readers actually read the supplemental side stories.

(This works perfectly fine for me since it creates a fun dichotomy between those who know and those who keep asking questions in the comments sections for readily available answers.)

My Hero Academia Untold: The Black Dragon Knights

Prologue: Divine Comedy

Hisashi knew missions could go wrong.

Plans change, unexpected variables can occur, and something as basic as a nosy neighbor could set a mission back by a week, depending on the circumstances. But this mission...everything went straight to shit from the word go. He should have known: a Rank S Operation with an Order Zero parameter? He didn't even realize such an operation could exist until he had received the call requesting his participation. He didn't think he would have ever been called up for such a job again, not since his greatest fuck up seven years ago.

'I guess karma truly is a cruel mistress...' Hisashi pondered as he lay on the street bleeding out from the hole in his chest. A hole made wider by his forceful transformation back into normal form. Unable to summon his Quirk, it was as if it had been taken by that man with heterochromatic eyes who managed almost to kill All Might. But he had taken the killing blow to hopefully give All Might a chance to finish that monster.

'The Emperor is real...all this time...he was right...the Emperor of Darkness does exist...'

The words from his haunted past, the warning about the one they were fighting.

'Holy shit...' Hisashi let out a wet, painful cough as he began recalling everything about his life up to that point. 'Is what they say about reliving your whole life as you die real?'

There was a massive rumble followed by a hurricane-like wind Hisashi could feel all around himself. One way or another, Hisashi knew the fight was over; he could pray that it was a victory as he felt himself starting to fade rapidly. He didn't even realize that someone had picked him up until he noticed All Might's injured face mere inches away from his own.

"Han- Draco-, you're-extrac-" The man's mouth moved, but the sound faded in and out with a constant earsplitting ring.

'It's too late for me, All Might...' Hisashi realized as he felt his eyes get heavier, but at least the pain was starting to fade away. If All Might was trying to get him to the evacuation point, he must have defeated the villain. He could die knowing that such an evil person was gone. 'Inko...Izuku...Mom...Dad...I'm sorry...for being so...weak...I...love...you...all. Please...forgive...me...'

Voices.

Screams.

Pain.

Dark Laughter.

Chaos

Hell.

Hisashi was sure he had landed himself in Hell. Given everything he had done in life, he felt like it was only fitting that someone like him would end up here in death. For all of the good he had done, he was still guilty of many unforgivable deeds. He had given in to being weak and selfish, to try and forget his shameful past and run away from his true destiny. But no matter how hard he tried, Hisashi knew the Devil would come to collect what was due.

There was no question that Hisashi Midoriya was dead.

Yet, somehow...he was still conscious? Everything was dark...he couldn't move, he couldn't breathe...yet he could hear them...feel them. Their pain...alongside his own. It naught more than a cacophony of souls on the brink of insanity that threatened to make him as insane as them. There were moments of calm, of serenity, where he could feel himself starting to fade again. Only for the torture to return with a vengeance. The screams that were followed by an insane pain waxed and waned; rinse and repeat. Day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute, second by the second.

Until at last...the voices...the pain...they were starting to fade to the emptiness...

Mayhaps Hell itself is only temporary? Had he served his time in this chaotic river of hellish eternity? Was he now allowed to move on to the next life?

Then the pain came again, worse than anything he had ever experienced in his entire life, as that dark, evil laughter began to echo out. It started with a pinch at the of his top head that slowly spread down the length of his whole body as if he were being squeezed through the tiniest tube imaginable. Hisashi wanted to scream, to beg, to be given mercy from whatever this pain beyond pain was to stop. Yet, no one answered; there was only laughter, pain, and screams.

And then without warning, it suddenly stopped. The pain, the laughter, the chaos in an instant, all that remained was silence. All that remained was an empty room devoid of any detail. At least it was initially; slowly but surely this strange room began to form and take shape. This even included his own body that was still wearing his Hero Costume, albeit it was still damaged from the blow that killed him.

As Hisashi finally regained all of his faculties. He found himself being able to move once again. As if he were alive, yet...how? He was dead; he knew that he was dead. So how was this possible? Where was he to make this possible? The Dragon Hero looked at his surroundings again. In the moment he had spent looking over himself, the room had finished manifesting into some kind of trophy room. A rather macabre trophy room based on stuffed human heads that had been mounted on the walls. Dozens of heads from all walks of life, both young and old.

"I think I'm going to be sick..." Hisashi managed to breathe out. "Who could have done such a horrifying thing?"

"Who's there?"

Hisashi nearly leaped out of shock as he heard a strange voice speak from his left. The Dragon Hero turned to spot another trophy, one of the handfuls of trophies that wasn't just a head on a wall. It took the form of a limp body seated and strapped to an elegantly carved wooden chair. The body moved sluggishly, barely able to raise its black-and-blond streaked hair.

"Another victim?"The man spoke with a raspy voice as he raised his head. Revealing his golden-black goatee and dull golden-yellow eyes. A dead man's eyes. "Wait...I know you...Hotori?"

Hisashi froze upon hearing that name...who was this man? How did he know that name? Yet, before the Dragon Knight could retort, the man spoke again with a wheezing laugh.

"No...no," The man shook his head with another wheeze. "You're younger...and he wouldn't be caught dead in that outfit. Plus, he was dead before me..."

"Hahaha..." the man continued, a wicked grin growing on his face. "No...You're not Hotori, but you're not The Boy either...Ah! That would make you Hisashi."

"Who are you?" Hisashi demanded as his fists clenched in anger.

"A fool who also thought he could escape his fate," the man retorted with rattled breath. I tried to escape as well, and this is my punishment. To serve... to advise...just like you..."

"To serve?" Hisashi asked, unnerved by the man's answer. "Serve who?"

"If you truly are Hisashi..." the man responded as he lowered his head and slumped back into his seat. However, his left hand began to point towards a door that Hisashi swore wasn't there before. "Then go see the Boy. Your Heir...You'll know him once you see him."

"Izuku!?" Hisashi panicked as he thought about his beloved son. How much time had passed? Was his son dead? Did that monster somehow manage to escape All Might and go after his family? Who else could this strange man be speaking about? Afterward, how would he know the truth about his past? Who else knew about Hotori?

Fearing the worst, Hisashi ignored the laughing man and made his way toward the door. He was already dead; what worse could be done to him? He needed answers and to know if his son had somehow been lost. The next room was equally strange. It seemed like a large bedroom, which was done in the traditional style of Japanese architecture. The man was quickly unnerved; he had always hated this style of architecture, as it reminded him of his childhood. There was nothing of note in the room, save for a lone futon in the center of the room with someone bundled up in the sheets.

"Izuku?" Hisashi called out as he quickly made his way toward the futon. He kept an eye on his surroundings as he felt a familiar sense of dread. He watched the sheets begin to move, as if the person within was trying to get out. "Izuku!"

Hisashi was only a few feet away, when the sheets lifted up, revealing a familiar-looking young boy. The man froze in place as he looked upon the young one's sickly pale face. This wasn't Izuku Midoriya; it was someone else entirely...albeit it was still a familiar face.

"No...could it be?" Hisashi spoke along as he turned to look back at the door behind him.

"Who are you?" The boy demanded with a wet cough, his golden-yellow eyes narrowing in suspicion.

"I could say the same to you," Hisashi answered, his own golden-yellow eyes narrowing into a stern glare.

"You are meant to serve me," the Boy said with another cough. "Do not question me. Your Quirk...it now belongs to me."

"I'd like to see you take it from me, child," Hisashi responded as he flexed his clawed hands.

A spark of electric energy shot out from the boy's hands.

"This child has killed plenty of old men already, fool...I can add you to the list..."

"It looks like I was wrong," Hisashi said as he took a fighting stance. "You're not a kid—you're a monster."

"Yeah..."The boy said with a insane grin. "You're right about that..."

Author's Commentary

Ah, time for a new layer of fun. For those who read the previous version, welcome to the new layer of Draco Knight's story with his unexpected heir. This is one of the shortest chapters I have ever written, but it was necessary to keep spoilers to a minimum.

The next Black Dragon Knight chapter will be familiar, but expect a few new things. The original version of this story was planned to have a total of 13 chapters.

Now however, this story is planned to have seventeen chapters with a particular theme that was inspired by the title of this new prologue.

Going forward, these chapters will always be uploaded alongside the relevant Knight of Fafnir chapter.
