Ririka Abarai
"Hey! I got it! Let's all get into the shinigami academy together!" A young Ririka said as she looked at her friends, and her brother Renji.
The nine all laughed and played as they ran down the streets of the soul society. But, as the years went by, the nine friends became eight.
The eight laughed and played as they ran down the streets of the markets. As they grew older, the eight friends became five.
The five laughed and played as they played around in the river. Ririka and Rukia played together as they showed off their spiritual powers, making the boys gawk. Soon, the five became three.
Ririka, Renji, and Rukia.
The three stood by six graves as they looked out at the setting sun, a solemn look on their faces as they leaned against their shovels.
"I think…."
Renji and Rukia looked over to Ririka.
"It's time to go to the academy. Let's become soul reapers." Ririka said as she looked over to her friend and brother. She was ready, and she knew the others were as well with the looks they gave her.
"Listen, the uh…. The Kuchiki clan wants to adopt me…" Rukia said as she looked away from the abarai twins.
The two looked at the smaller girl in surprise, Ririka was beyond ecstatic for the girl, but a part of her begged that Rukia declined. Hoped that maybe, just maybe she would stay with them, but both Abarai's knew that Rukia was destined for greatness.
So….
They encouraged her to go for it, and soon the gap started to form for the sibling and their best friend.
The years flew by, and Renji became lieutenant to Byakuya Kuchiki, and Ririka became Captain of the squad three. Though, she had a bit of an icky feeling around her lieutenant Gin Ichimaru, and Sosuke who seemed to coincidentally need things from her lieutenant's office.
Renji and Ririka became distant as the years flew by, and slowly she began to recede into herself. Constantly training and fighting to become a captain that HAD a bankai, whether Renji or Rukia were there to congratulate her or not.
…
Ririka sat shell shocked as a menos grande reduced her squad to nothing, she was alone, and her lieutenant was nowhere to be found. Her wounds weep an angry red as she screamed to the crying skies above.
She would NOT die!
Not Here!
"You want more power, girl?"
Ririka grit her teeth as she screamed to the voice that resounded in her head, "YES!"
"Then, pull me from the depths of your soul,"
Ririka roared as she pulled the burning determination, the determination to win!
"Yell out my Name ririka, my name is…."
"BASK IN DESTRUCTION DAYBREAKER!"
Suddenly Ririka was flooded with a blinding light, black flames licked the air around her as she wielded the tail of a large black Basilisk. It hissed as venom dripped from its dangerously sharp fangs, and with one swing Ririka lashed her shikai at the menos grande. She smirked in victory as her sword, no, Daybreaker latched onto the Hollow, pumping its venom into the hollow.
"I WIIINNN!" Ririka screamed as she pumped her fist in the air, running and jumping to hug her shikai. Never before had she been so happy than she was in this moment, even though she lost so many people, she did it.
…finally…
She groaned as she fell back, coughing up blood, she glanced up as the smirking face of her lieutenant appeared above her. "Gin," She said in relief as she struggled to get up. Had he gone to get help? She felt so relieved.
"Tsk tsk tsk, ms. Abarai. I am disappointed, how am I going to tell the others about your death?" Gin mocked sinisterly as he looked down at the barely conscious girl.
"W-what? Gin I-I'm al-" Ririka screamed in pain as she felt her chest slashed open.
"H-how c-could you!" She coughed, blood pouring from her mouth as she reached out to the retreating form of Gin Ichimaru.
"It's simple really. You were in my way, now do me a favor and die." Gin smiled as he waved goodbye, the doors to the soul society slowly closing shut.
Ririka gasped and sputtered as blood began to stain the ground around her. She couldn't…..she couldn't die here…. She had things to…do….
The uraraka family had been having an amazing day, their daughter was six months away from taking the entrance exam. Their company had been having an unusually great time in construction, and their profits had been steadily rising.
(A/N: I'm giving Ochaco's parents names. Her mother will be Tachibana Uraraka, and her father Daisuke Uraraka. 3)
"Oh my god!" Tachibana screamed, she shakily pointed to the body of a young red-headed girl. Blood pooled and splattered around her.
The family sprinted to the girl, Tachibana turned away throwing any and all of her food up into a bush. Daisuke put two fingers under her nose, sighing in relief when he felt the lightest of air puff against them. Who could do this to a child!?
There was a long-jagged gash that started at her hip and ran up to her collarbone. It seeped an ugly red color, and her eyes, God her eyes. They barely had any life left to it, and for a moment all Daisuke could see was Ochaco. Gently as he could he gathered the small girl in his arms, hustling to the nearest hospital. Barging into the emergency part he screamed for immediate medical attention as he gestured to the nearly dead girl in his arms.
In a chain reaction the nurses broke into hysteria as they rushed a bed over helping him place the girl down, and screaming for sutures, staples, disinfectant wipes, and saline solution. They ran to the ICU as doctors and nurses rushed into the room to help, while a few doctors stayed behind to question Daisuke, and his family.
That was the start of a new chapter in both the Uraraka's lives, and in Ririka Abarai's life.

It had been two months after the fateful incident of Ririka's near death experience. Her wounds had healed suspiciously fast for the nurses and doctors, and they were still trying to find out who in their right mind would let a child get tattoos all around their body. The marks stretched across her forehead and wrapped around her shoulder meeting at each end of her collarbone and dipped down to the middle of her back. From her shoulder the tattoos extended to her elbow, wrapping around, and below her chest there were tattoos that started at her abdomen, stretching across and diving past her pelvis ending at her thighs.
(A/N: Think of Renji Abarai's tattoos. The both of them got matching tattoos after graduating from the academy. (:)
As soon as she was aware enough of her surroundings, she was bombarded with questions from the doctors like, who she was, where she lived, who her parents were, and what happened to her. It sent Ririka for a loop as she tried to keep up with the questions, feeling her mind spin as she tried to answer.
"My name is Ririka Abarai, captain of squad three in the 13 court guard squads. I live in the soul society, and I don't know who my parents are." She answered honestly, feeling that if she lied, she would be seen as a threat. Gaining trust was the best way to go until she could gather her power back and be able to get back to the soul society.
Tsukauchi was baffled, utterly baffled. Nothing she said was a lie, everything she said was truth, but he couldn't push the girl to answer interrogations in the state she was in. Considering that she had been truthful thus far, he reluctantly allowed the Uraraka's to take the young girl home, as they were the only ones who seemed to be willing to take the injured red head.
.
.
"Hi! My name's Ochaco Uraraka, but I just wanted to say I'm so happy that you're ok." Ochaco said as she led the injured girl into her house, watching her carefully to make sure she wasn't going to keel over.
"I thank you for your hospitality. My name is Ririka Abarai, please take care of me." Ririka said as she bowed to the small family, straining as her wounds cried against the staples and sutures.
"Oh no! Sweetie, you don't have to bow. Please lift yourself, we are more than happy to have you here, until you are back in tip top shape." Tachibana said as she hurried over gently lifting the girl from her low bow.
Ririka stared in interest as the family got ready for dinner, their faces of happiness something foreign to Ririka. When was the last time she held such a free happy look on her face? When had she ever felt so... relaxed?
"Ririka, please come join us!" Tachibana said as she gestured to the empty chair beside Ochaco.
Just this once she would be selfish and choose herself this time. She would let go of her responsibilities and indulge, what could possibly go wrong?
