'It's been a while.'

Hecate pointedly looked at her timepiece. How long did it take to tire out a few schoolgirls? They had been excited enough on the journey. Plenty of energy. Nothing that could match their P.E. teacher though.

'What do they call this contraption?' Enquired Ada worriedly. 'It looks a little unsafe.'

'Miss Cackle, please. We have only just seen off Ms Gullet, we do not need a replacement' said her deputy sternly. They turned towards the panting puffing students trailing behind an enthusiastic Dimity, arranged on different steps. A little light magic and the up escalator started moving, the challenge being that each student had to keep jogging up on two steps for as long as the escalator kept moving. It was an evil idea. And most welcome. Hecate had to admit that Dimity's idea of detention was somewhat entertaining and had the potential to deter further mischief. That would teach Mildred Hubble, Ethel Hallow and friends to run amok in the Natural History Museum.

'I think, Ada, we will leave them to it' she said, slowly strolling off, taking her companion with her. The light was fading and outside, Battersea power station was lit up in glorious luminous colours and as they walked arm in arm on the promenade, Hecate thought that perhaps the ordinary world could have some merit once in a while.
