Chapter 2

(Allan POV, Conference room)

"This night fury here is Zeus." A young, Caucasian, ginger lad in his early twenties announces as he shows a board presentation of pictures of his younger self doing various experiments with the tiger stripped fury like testing him with flash cards, learning to count objects, and solving puzzles.

The lad himself, like other Magi Prime scientists wore a lab coat with the logo. He also wears a pair of blue jeans, black loafers, and a dark blue polo collar shirt. On his tag reads, Alan Mandrake, Head-Scientist HQ division.

Alan as the tag reads is currently lecturing a group of young scientists new to the company. As a head scientist, it is part of his obligation to ensure to let new employees know what they are dealing with.

"Zeus as you could see is the current chosen subject from the night fury habitat, number 77 for our experiments to create our serums to benefit human kind."

One of the hands from one of the students raises up to ask a question looking concerned.

"Don't mean to sound like a conspiracy theorist Mr. Mandrake but are you implying that you guys are using dragons as your lab rats?"

All student eyes in the room gaze at Allan with faces of concern and worry for the dragons they are containing underground. Allan kept his professional composure and adds, "If you are concerned about the dragons I assume? Do not worry, they are not harmed. Perhaps Magi prime have been raising and experimenting for years without much incident."

"Without much incident?" the same student raises a brow.

Allan sighs as starts to switch a presentation showing historical photos and facts.

"If I must lecture, during the early times we had used animals for our experiments deemed important for the benefit of the world and mankind. I would not lie that there were complications with the said animals and some human volunteers we used to contain. But the discovery of dragons changed everything."

"What changed professor?"

Allan switches the projection to a picture showing one dragon bounded on a table having its blood extract. Another picture shows the scientists using chemistry sets and machines to extract samples of DNA from the blood to purify them into a liquid chemical. The pictures shown are as if, Allan is showing how a virus vaccine is made.

"Resilience and opportunity! The dragons that we use for our trials proved to be very resistant to our harsher experiments. Perhaps very adaptable to the prototype serums we us on them before we create our trademark products, the MP Elixirs. Liquified DNA extracted from our dragons whom have a lot of unique abilities and very unique genetics that we could use to grant humanity the means of improving themselves health wise. Improving sight, strength, speed, and many more. With that, Magi Prime was able to make trading deals in secrecy with the medical and other science institutions to give us the necessary funds to conduct other lesser experiments like extracting the Nightfury DNA within the Nightlights from habitat 17 in order to bring the Nightfuries back from extinction paving way for more trials."

"TIME OUT TIME OUT!" a student objects.

"Are you saying those potion things that people have been injecting themselves are actually dragon DNA? Isn't it dangerous to allow genetics from another creature like a dragon to rewrite our genetic codes like that?"

"As I assure, Magi Prime have been doing this for years. Right now, we are doing some trials with subject Zeus and subject Olympia for the production of the latest Elixir to bring the ability to heighten our intelligence like a brain boosting pill."

Suddenly the intercom announces, "Professor Allan Mandrake to the trial rooms. I repeat, Allan Mandrake to the trial rooms ASAP!"

"Well then. Sounds like our session is coming to an end, class dismissed," Allan proclaims as he packs up his things and proceeds to leave the room.

(few hours before, Zeus POV, habitat 77)

A Night fury, Zeus wakes up from his rest along with a yawn. With his white eyes he looks around his enclosing trying to figure out what to do. While he looks around the flocks of other furies that he is sharing his space with, from the trees of the enclosure, a strange gas begin to fume from small openings causing the furies to drop down asleep including Zeus.

Zeus's last line of sight before closing his eyes are a group of figures approaching him.

(Olympia POV, Habitat 66)

A small female Monstruos nightmare with blue scales and red eyes is seen hiding inside a cave. On the tag on her neck reads her name is Olympia.

Olympia shyly peeps out to see more of her kind of dragons in a habitat that resembles a mountain landscape. The dragoness, Olympia slowly walks out and looks around her surroundings. Her gaze lands to the center where she sees piles of fish where other nightmares are feasting.

Looking at the fish pile makes her drool. Her stomach grumbles. Olympia tries to approach only for a familiar gas fume from the ground. The nightmares begin to drop down into slumber one by one as did herself. While Olympia tries to keep herself awake, she sees a group of figures approaching her before vision goes black.

(Present time, Trial room)

Zeus slowly opens his eyes to be greeted by a massive room with different colored walls. One is blue, one is red, one is green, and one is yellow. The fury looks around as if he is already familiar to it. He sees a pile of toys at the corner. At the moment he is about to approach the toys, a door opens.

Coming out of the door is Allan looking really happy to see Zeus.

"Hey buddy! How is it going!?"

Zeus perks up happy at the sight of Allan. He rushes up to the human and makes a big leap to grab him into a hug.

"Hahaha, guess I got my answer. Alright boy let go please," Allan calmly orders.

Zeus breaks out of the hug and looks at him, curious what his trainer has planned for him.

"Good boy, now sit!" Allan commands. Zeus sits as commanded and pants like a dog which is silly to Allan by the way he softly laughs.

"Ok boy, are you ready to play some more games?" Allans asks.

The fury stops panting and nods yes for him to go on.

"Alright, today how do you feel about a play mate?" Allan asks the stripped fury making him confused. What did Allan mean by 'playmate'?

Allan begins to walk to the other end of the room. As he walks he explains, "Today I want you to meet someone very special. Just like you she very special. So I hope you do your best to be nice to her ok?"

Allan approaches what looks like a two door gate. Zeus nods yes once again. With a confident smile, Allan slowly opens one of the doors.

"Come on girl, don't be shy," Allan whispers while using his hand to gesture who or whatever is behind the doors. He steps to the side for the familiar blue nightmare, to shyly step out from her hiding place.

Zeus gives the shy dragon an inquisitive look. Suspicious of what the other dragon is doing in the very play room he is sharing.

The Nightmare, Olympia gets spooked by the fury's look. She thinks he is glaring at her, making her back peddle a bit only for Allan to rush up to her head.

"Easy girl! This is Zeus. He wont hurt you I promise," Allan comforts the dragon girl and strokes her head.

Allan looks to Zeus and introduces, "Zeus, this is Olympia. She is a very sweet girl and I hope today you two are going to play a lot of fun games together what do you both say?"

Zeus makes a curious look with his head tilted like an owl. Then he inspects the other dragon in the room by circling her. Olympia slowly shakes, showing she is still scared of the fury until he stops and leans his face to her's. Then Zeus puts on a friendly face and gives her a nuzzle.

Olympia blushes in reaction. Sensing he is no threat; the nightmare smiles and nuzzles him back. Then they start to gently tackle each other, playing around like a pair of happy dogs.

Allan could not help but make a heart warming smile at the sight of the two dragons playing. But that is not what he is here for. He makes a few claps with his hands to get both dragons attentions.

"Ok guys, here are some games we are going to play together today!"

Allan takes out a remote and presses a button. The center of the room opens up a big hole and lifts up a big table with a puzzle set on top. Allan guides the two curious dragons to the said table where they see the puzzle of four pieces of a picture of a city.

"Here is what you two are going to do!" Allan walks up to the front of the table and explains, "You both are going to work together and put these pieces together. You both understand?"

The dragon pair give each other a curious look until Allan says, "If you both behave and solve this puzzle, I will give you both a fish."

Allan takes out two fresh salmons from his jacket making the dragons look at it with hungry glee.

"Do we have a deal?" Allan asks with a raised brow.

Both dragons nod.

"Now begin!"

With that, the Nightmare and the Fury rush to the puzzle and begin to solve the puzzle together.

(Observation room)

While the two dragons are trying to solve the puzzle. The same group of scientists lead by Melvin and Malcom are watching the pair in a separate observation room to ensure the success of the latest experiment. To see if a certain serum is capable of giving enough intelligence to the point of proper socialization rather than instinctive attacking. So far so good.

Melvin puts on a smile as he watches Allan oversee the dragons working together with the puzzle they are about to solve.

"Looks like the progress is already paying off!"

"It is a promising start I agree but they still need to go through a few more trials," Malcom adds as he looks at the clip board.

For the remainder of the trial, the two dragons continue to play more games that would involve team work socialization. Like learning how to play ball together, solve an obstacle course, helping each other with setting up a pair of blocks, and many more.

As time progresses, Allan started to bond with the two dragons who are doing well with each other. A little too well as the pair are showing signs of affection for each other. Little did Allan nor the scientists of Magi prime know, the dragon pair will create a legend.
