It is amazing how much a clear goal helps writing. I am so clear on this series, it helps me write so much better...

Lots of excitement here.

Weeks passed and Mason found himself on a journey to the West, armed to the teeth, excited and pleased to make his way away. Why? It was in the West that the piece of Selen was to be found. More specifically, her fragments were repeating the words -' IN THE WEST, IN THE WEST!' Over and Over again, in his and Ganymede's heads, so things were getting a bit tense. That being said, Mason was happy to get out of the apartment and actually into the real world.

He made to California with some spells and a little effort, and was actually approaching the remains of a House emenating a potent, feminine power, when he heard them,

"Wolves? But there are no wolves in California, Humans chased them all away, hunted them to extinction in the area?"

There was a buzz of energy, before a sudden, powerful, scary, shadowy force strode in armed with a dozen or so wolves that seemed to appear from the literal shadows. She, for it was a She Wolf, standing at seven feet tall strode toward him with the most beautiful of silvery eyes and reddish fur.

"What are you doing here, Pup?" She asked, twitching and mewling, a mixture of sound and movement that told a story. Her voice, her presence, was deep and powerful and resonated in his soul.

He bowed. "I am a witch namaed Mason, under the service of Ganymede and Selene. I have found her fragments, pieces of her essence to restore her. I found her in the East, in Dreams, and now in the West."

She nodded, looking skyward, toward the brilliant full moon in the sky. 'Our people call her Luna... and you would call me Lupa, child.'

"Wait, like the Roman aspects of the Greek Gods?"

She nodded. 'The gods moved with the Flames of Western Civilization, mutated until they became a new form. In some cases, like with Luna, they faded away... they could not handle the transition. Some became better, some worse. I am a solely Roman Goddess, that of Wolves and I can smell Luna's essence on you.' She paused for a long moment, then nodded. "I must test you, to see if you are worthy of carrying the torch of the Goddess of the Moon."

Two of her wolves blitzed him, rushing at blinding speeds. Barely, barely, Mason turned and rolle under them, rising he summoned his blade and sliced through their backsides. Whimpering, they turned only to get a kick to the face sending them flying.

Gathering his strength, he waved his hand at them. "Somnus!" And they collapsed, entirely drained and forced into deep sleep. "Is that enough Lupa?"

She laughed, sort of, and shook her massive head. "No, but it is a start... travel with me for a few weeks, and when you are fully worthy, I will send you to a place you are likely to gain allies, powers and connection. However, you must vow to keep the secret of Rome from Greece and Green from Rome... can you agree to do this?"

He nodded. "As long as it is safe for me to do so... I swear by Styx."

As the air thundered, he knew that his life was to change in ways he never could have guessed... all from one powerful wolf.

:::

"He is going to be so powerful." Ganymede squeed, looking at the scrying glass. "In just a few weeks, he will be even better and so much more a warrior. I cannot wait to see that."

Rubbing his chest, he remembered the other boy's warmth.

"I cannot wait to be with you again, but until then... be safe, my love. Lupa will train you well, but remember, if you fail you are food... you must prevail."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
