Chapter: 01

(Day 14)

The number of helicopters and jets flying over the city increased day by day. Loud gunshots and blasts echoed around the city, and it was getting worse and worse. The mysterious cannibalistic murders happening since last month didn't gave the idea that it would lead them to a global pandemic. No electricity, No medicine, No food; Deku, is just clinging to a thread of hope. He hoped for it to end shortly. His life wasn't pretty before this terrifying turn of events, but that life was better than fearing for his life.

He looks below from the rooftop of a building. People have turned cannibalistic. Blood mixed with the rain, and guts and flesh blocking the drainage. Cars are flipped due to suppen panic, and overall, the city became the definition of hell. It become a graveyard even though people are walking around. Except, they're not humans anymore. He's soaked in the rain water as he stood there, analysing the scene.

"No self awareness. No quick movements. They're ripping each other apart, possibly because they can't tell the difference between the infected and non infected." He mumbled. "A lesser man would die here. The evacuation mission won't be active for long. Knowing the government, those blasts I hear is meant for everyone. The people in need dies with the infected" He nodded to himself.

"What the hell is even going on?" He asked to himself. Being quirkless was the only problem he faced up until two weeks ago. Then the hell broke lose. Death, everywhere. He never seen anyone familiar since. On that fateful day, he didn't get to return home.

He looks down at his hand. The bite mark was fresh. He's infected for sure. Death comes for everyone, but he doesn't know how he'll die. Those infected is either dead or they're alive with no senses.

He sighed and walked in the direction of his home apartment. He felt sick as he walked. The bite wound was really painful, as if thousands of long needle piercing his exposed flesh.

This was his last ride. Infected people all around, but none of them was in front of him. The rain got heavier, and the distant blasts rivaled the chaos of the downpour.

The city was dark, but he could manage his way through the busted pavement. The faintest of light source coming from the sky itself was the only thing helping him see ahead.

His body was cold. Can't tell if the bite is killing him or it's the weather, but it's gotten unusually cold.

(DAY 15)

Those blasts only got louder since last night. Death is near. Either he'll get vapourised by one of those bombs or the infection will kill him. He hate the idea of turning into one of those mindless things. But at this point he could only lay there and stare up at the ceiling of his apartment.

It's the first time he's home since the outbreak. No electricity, no tv signal, no movement, Nothing. His mother is nowhere to be found. She was in hurry, because the front door was wide open when he got here. No blood spatters though, thankfully. Which means she didn't get bit before she left. But that relief short-lived. He's unaware of her fate. Where is his mother? Is she safe? What happened to her? Countless unanswered questions, and there's no way to find them.

A tear dripped down his cheeks. The cold is getting worse along with the pain. He was right. He wasn't cold because of the rain. The infection already started to kill him slowly.

His bite mark covered by the dry blood, filth and moisture. The same hand turned pale and bluish. He coughed up blood once every few minutes. His stomach was hurting, and he could smell his body slowly emit the rotting stench.

The blasts got closer and louder. He cried as his eyes slowly closed, finally welcoming the darkness which will free him from the pain. The world has gone dark. The life slowly vanished from his body. Izuku Midoriya's life succumbed to the rampage of this horrifying disease.

(Day 742)- about 2 years since the outbreak.

U.E.D (Undead Extermination and Defence), was formed about 16 months prior, consists of ex military personnel, trainees and doctors. The idea is to gather the most useful candidates to aid in this dark times. Government was like a dead shell. While the formation of U.E.D, almost 112 out of 126 million people died or got infected. That's about 88% of the population of Japan. News on the rest of the world is limited at best.

Counting all the U.E.D members around Japan, it's only about 2356 people. Almost all of them are doctors. They're the ones who researching on the virus samples. The virus was extraordinary. Whoever came in contact had to maintain isolation from the rest. So basically, about 50 or so doctors/scientists, are trapped inside a big lab separated from the rest of the world. Their reports are the only thing make it outside. Those said doctors have slowly showing symptoms. Most of them have high fever. If it gets bad, those individuals are send to quarantine.

U.E.D haven't even picked up the pace, and already people backing away. The effect of this apocalypse is showing. People are already giving up. However there's a lot of tough people in U.E.D. They're tough because they have nothing much to lose. They're brave enough to hide fear and make quick decisions. So in short, it's a good thing some of them backing away before the shit get's real. They would only get in the way.

Kakera Tetsuka, the 17 year old trainee left her tent early that morning. She had all blue colour scheme for outfit. Light blue shirt tucked into a dark blue cargo pants. Dark brown military boots and dark blue tactical vest with four pouches. She only has a hand gun as a defence. At least for now. She's just a rookie with only a bit of military training. She was a cadet before the outbreak, and her whole life changed. She was a troublemaker. She loved violence. But the outbreak proved her that she could improve herself further and punch harder. She's a perfectly sized girl for her age. Slim toned body and round chest. Her knuckles and forearm covered by white or now dirty yellowing wrist tape. Her short black hair and yellow eyes made her a beauty. Her lips and eyelids have dark makup on. Overall she appears to be a tough one.

"Run, Rookie. Commander Shirai will eat you alive if you're late." A male voice yelled from behind.

"She's not in position to sideline any of us idiots. Our numbers are laughable." Tetsuka scoffed dismissing his warning. The world is dying. At least few of these guys haven't lost their cheerful or human side...yet.

"I'll pray for you then." The guy teased her.

She rolled her eyes and made her way towards the biggest tent in this place. They're basically barricaded a big portion of a green field and put up some tents and the place to harvest vegetables. The work on the well pipe have finished recently. They have some decent water supply that way.

Few older men were doing chores around the place, continuously maintaining the essentials of survival. Mostly harvesting, hunting and things to keep everyone fed. While people like her worry about the dangerous missions which involves in going outside.

"Meeting started exactly 7 minutes ago, Ms Kakera. The world is moving on, whether with or without you." Commander Shirai immediately stopped her midway through the entrance. The woman is tall with dark green hair reaching down her buttocks. She have full white attire. White shirt, which hugged her curvy features and white pencil skirt. Her short is unbuttoned to the chest showing of her cleavage and the small part of her velvet bra padding. Her high heels are the same velvet colored.

Tetsuka chuckled. "I've been working. Besides you can't expect me to go out there, examine the population of those things, prepare a file and be on time to the meeting? You're spoiled, commander." Tetsuka straight up said that to her face.

Her colleagues chuckled. Commander Shirai sighed. "You know you can get away with this bullshit. But trust me, I'll kick your ass when I get a chance." Shirai dropped her professional act. She's also a hothead.

"We'll be dead before that." Tetsuka shrugged it off and sat on her seat.

"What did you see our there, rookie?" The old man with similar blue uniform asked her. Tijiri iishi, a former prison warden who was retired a decade before the outbreak. Now he's here, in his late 50's, working his ass off everyday and he prefers death at this point.

Tetsuka tossed the file to the center of the table. "The infected with powerful quirks started to reform or explode, possibly because those rotting flesh can't handle the power. I came across few that's slowly turning into the big ones. We're screwed if we don't get help asap." She reported.

"That's the same thing we learned since last year." Commander Shirai said.

Tetsuka looks at her. "You won't let me go that far. I'm only reporting what I see out there everyday." She said..

"Yeah, I guess. Anyways, we got a word from the other side of the city. They have discovered something strange. As far as they know it, it's a living organism on a bed of rubble. It almost have the behaviour of a cocoon." Commander Shirai said with a grim expression.

"They've built a barrier around the site. No solution of containment yet. It'll take them two more days to build a containment cell around it. Whatever it is, we can't let it outside. We have to wait one more day for them to scan life form. That way we'll get to see what's really in there." She added.

The room was silent. Up until now everyone tried to forget the horrors of the outside world. They barely know anything. They're going in blind. With this news, they're about witness something bad. Tetsuka trust her guy feeling, and her guy says something bad is gonna happen soon.

"There's only 7 of us in this room. I'll pair us into three groups, with two on each team. I'll send the list later tonight. Prepare for tomorrow. We're going out there. We have three missions. Aid them with the cocoon problem, extend the cover of our base and finally, eliminate the big ones. We're not sure if they are able to use their quirk. But tomorrow, we'll find out."

Darkness. His heartbeat slowly coming back. He could feel it. The strength. He'll escape this darkness soon.
