Sitting in the woods Izuku meditated on a rock next to a small brook. Breathing out into the brisk air as he listened to the sounds of the forest around him. He lived on the outskirts of Musutafu. His grandfather owned a small, forested area where he took care of the green haired boy.
Izuku was lucky to have him. Sakonji Midoriya, Izuku was so lucky to have such a caring man in his life. He had helped the quirkless boy find a reason to keep trying. Always pushing for his dreams. Something nobody else believed he could do.
You see not all people are created equal. That was something Izuku learned at the ripe age of four years old. He had been told he was quirkless. Quirks being what gave anyone worth. A power that made you unique. Different, without it you were considered worthless, weak, a deku.
Deku. It was what he had been called by his so called best friend for years. Katsuki Bakugo was his friend turned bully. Not that he took it seriously anymore. When he was around ten the physical punishment stopped. It was around the time his Grandfather began teaching him to defend himself. Showing how to get power without having a quirk.
The worst part of his life though happened when he was eight years old.
"NO! I can't do this anymore Hizashi." His mom was on the phone again with daddy. Apparently she was mad at him again. He hadn't seen his dad since his doctor said he wouldn't have a quirk.
Inko turned to see Izuku looking up at her from the other side of the kitchen. Tears brimming in her eyes as she let the guilt of her decision kick in, "My dad says he'll take him. At least he won't end up in the foster system. Yeah. Uh huh. I'll see you in a couple days sweetie."
Hanging up the phone his mom wordlessly picked Izuku up and carried him down to a car. Inside was his clothes and toys. A lot of his hero stuff was still upstairs, "Where are we going Mommy?" Inko didn't answer. She never said anything to him. The entire way there. His Grandpa was standing outside waiting for them.
His Grandpa was a very fit man. He had short light green hair with grey scattered through it. His eyes were light blue giving him a varied look. He wore a blue kimono with waves similar to water. Light brown pants with traditional sandals.
Grabbing Izuku by the hand she dragged him over to her father, "Inko dear. Please don't do this. He needs you to make it in this world." Water poured from her eyes as she shook her head, "I can't. I'm sorry dad. Please just take him."
Sakonji grabbed Izuku's hand who was shaking and crying silently trying to figure out what was happening. Inko though never looked down at him. Instead going to the car and throwing out his luggage before getting in the car and driving away.
Realizing she was leaving Izuku tried running after her but was picked up by his grandfather, "NO MOMMY! MOMMY! COME BACK MOMMY!" He screamed over and over again reaching for her as the tail lights disappeared in the distance.
Even now he missed his mom more than anything. Breathing out again he let the anger and pain dissipate again. This time focusing on the training that had started three years ago. His grandpa had taken up into the mountains on his tenth birthday.
Izuku looked around confused. He was standing in his new training kimono, "Grandpa. What are we doing out here?" Sakonji smiled softly down at his grandson, "Today we are going to start your training. You still want to be a hero don't you?"
A confident smile formed on his face, "Yes please! I want to be a hero more than anything!" Sakonji chuckled, "The question is what kind of hero little one. Though that will come later. For now we are going to start with this."
Sakonji pulled out a bokken, "We are going to start your training with sword training. There is much tradition to a weapon like this." Izuku nodded along as he stared at the practice sword, "I will teach you this. Though I don't want you to focus solely on tradition."
Confusion was written on his face, "But why? Isn't it about honor and warrior stuff?" Sakonji couldn't hold back his chuckle, "Yes. However that is not what it means to be a warrior for the people. You will be their weapon and their shield."
Sakonji asked, "What is a quirk?" Izuku tilted his head, "It's a power that people have."
"Yes and no. It is in fact a power that people are born with. It is a tool." Sakonji pulled his bokken out, "As is your sword. It is deadly and is something that shouldn't be triffled with. It can disarm, wound, maim, and if need be kill."
"All Might is your favorite hero. If he is a bomb than you will be a scalpel." Izuku looked at his grandpa in absolute awe, "Let us begin."
For the next three years he drilled Izuku everyday. Teaching him his own form of martial arts. Starting with kenjutsu. Than moving to hand to hand. His specific form being a mix of kickboxing, wing chun, and judo. Other weapons Izuku was trained in was bo staff, tri fold staff, and a variety of knives.
It was a lot but Izuku loved it. Now he was in his last year of middle school. Sakonji though had him enrolled in online schooling. He didn't like the way people treated him just because he didn't have a quirk so he took him out.
"Izuku. It's time for dinner." Izuku happily joined his grandfather to the house. Sitting down Izuku thank him for the meal before he began eating, "Izuku. How are your studies coming."
"They are really good! I am learning about support items right now. I think it be super cool to have them when I become a hero. I'd still use my weapons but they'd give me some edges for capture and rescue!"
Sakonji nodded, "I agree that would be very beneficial." Izuku smiled as Sakonji continued, "I think you should tr-" A loud crash could be heard from another room. Both the Midoriya's got up and were on alert.
Reaching into his kimono Izuku pulled out two knives. Something didn't feel right. Just as he was about to round the corner to the main room. His grandfather grabbed him and threw him back. A disk of high-pressured water sliced through the walls nearly missing the two of them. Sakonji drew his katana and used it to cut through another disk, "Kensei. It's been a long time. Took us awhile to track you down."
"Grandpa?" Izuku called out confused as more men came into the house, "A child? You wouldn't believe how shocked Aramusha was when he found out you not only had a daughter but now this. Oh, he will love this."
"Izu. I need you to be strong today my child." Izuku slid behind his grandfather. He stood ready for any of these men to move, "Now!"
Izuku charged at one of the men. His arm inflated and swung at him. Spinning and ducking in one fluid motion Izuku flew under the man's giant arm. Slicing his thigh open he knew he would be able to knock him down in a single hit, so he jumped and pushed off a wall to slam his knee into the man's neck.
Hearing someone inhale he looked up to see a girl suddenly breath out. The powerful force shot Izuku through one of the thin walls. Rolling backwards he got back to his feet. His knives were lost but he was ready. One of the thugs shot his nails out like bullets. Rolling towards him Izuku kicked out one of his feet. Seeing him drop he grappled onto his neck. Pulling back he used his body weight to throw him into a glass casing.
Izuku got up seeing his katana. Awkwardly Izuku ran stumbling towards his sword. Grabbing it he dropped ready for the attack. The air girl came around the corner, but Izuku was quicker this time. Drawing the blade, he sliced across her chest making her scream in pain. Remembering his grandpa's lessons, he brought down the sword slamming the hilt into her neck knocking her out.
"Grandpa!" Izuku ran back into the other room. Only to see five men. All were wearing black suits. Leather black gloves, and Oni masks. His grandfather was on his knees. One of his arms were missing and he was barely holding on.
The leader of the group pulled out a pistol and aimed it at his head. Izuku thought it was over when he his grandpa threw his sword directly past them shattering a pot. It lodged into a hidden button causing an explosion. Izuku was thrown back smacking his head on a table.
"Izu. C-come on." Slowly he stood up. Grabbing his sword he dizzily followed his grandfather to the other room as the men were getting back up. Walking over to a wall he activated a pin pad. The door opened and he pulled Izuku in before shutting it behind them.
Getting to the bottom of the long tunnel he looked at Izuku, "I-I need you to drag me son. I will lose consciousness soon. There is a sled at the bottom of this tunnel. Turn it on and take us to the end of the line. Tell the butler that we are Code Karuta."
Before Izuku could ask any more questions his Grandpa passed out. Izuku grabbed him with tears in his eyes, "What is happening." Fear was rearing it's head. Slowly Izuku dragged him forward. He was determined to save his Grandpa. No matter what.
The sled flew through the tunnel. Izuku was shocked at how fast they were moving. His nerves were finally dying. Allowing him to take in everything he remembered. Doing what Sakonji taught he took a meditative breath. The entire scene played again over and over in his head. These men were from an organization. He wasn't sure which though.
They all had different masks on. All of them were Oni masks though. Easy to recognize if he saw them in public. They were also in great shape to. Their quirks weren't that impressive for the most part, but they knew how to use them well in a fight. In his own opinion he was lucky. His instincts that his grandpa drilled into him helped tremendously.
They were looking for his Grandpa though. He was the one they were targeting. Sakonji was just a man that owned a tea shop. Why were they after him? Why did he have an escape hatch? He wasn't a hero. That Izuku knew. There were no heroes with his particular styles or quirk.
Sakonji's quirk was small and subtle. It allowed him to control the air around him. Though not in any wide scale. He could only use it to cause things to miss him. It always wowed Izuku when he would part the rain around him to make it where not a single drop touched him,
Before he could come to his conclusion, he stropped to see a the end of the tunnel. A robot of some kind was waiting for them there. It had a sleek silver and black design. It's face plate had no distinguishable features outside of the yellow eyes.
"Hello Young Midoriya. It's a pleasure to meet you I am Butler. Except it seems the Master is in quite poor shape." Izuku felt his eyes burning with tears, "H-he said that we were in Code Karuta."
Butler stopped, "Then we must hurry. Come, we are leaving." Izuku was shocked but grabbed his katana and followed. He asked where they were going but the robot didn't say. Instead, just kept going. Reaching a machine, he set the old man in. A mask fell from the top and covered his mouth and nose before it filled with liquid.
"What's happening?" Butler pushed it into a truck, "We are going to his other base. Amaterasu. This one is compromised."
Izuku was getting frustrated, "I don't understand! What's happening?" He glared at the robot as it seemed to be thinking about something, "Your Grandfather was a skilled vigilante many years ago. His many enemies have somehow discovered who he is."
The truck pulled out of the garage. Tires squealing as the big vehicle sped down the road. Izuku though was still confused. Though he wasn't thinking about it anymore. Not until the sudden flash of red appeared. In no time the found themselves in the air. Pieces of metal exploded around them. With a crunch the top of the truck smashed into the road.
Izuku's adrenaline kicked in as he came to. Grabbing his sword he looked around. Butler was no longer in the truck with him. Unbuckling he dropped down and slid out of the passenger seat. It only took a second for him to get a sense of dread. The back of truck was open, and his grandpa wasn't in it.
Looking around in a panic he saw someone walking towards him, "Look at this one. A weak little boy with the Kensei." He wore a mask similar to the others. The black Oni mask had two horns on the forehead. His eyes glowed purple, staring at him with a malice like he'd never seen.
"You're the boy that defeated my men before." Walking around him he chuckled, "To bad. You're cute. Would have made a good towel boy for the boss."
The man drew out a wazikashi, "Let us see how skilled you are." Izuku put his hand on the hilt of his katana. He could see his breathe as he tried to gain control of his surroundings.
Everything slowed down as he moved. The villain didn't waste any time either. Running directly at the young boy. Sparks flew as their blades clashed. Moving faster Izuku sliced through the air almost hitting the man's neck. Sliding to his side Izuku dodged what would have been a fatal stab wound.
Izuku wasn't quite fast enough though. With a swift kick a foot hit his chest knocking him back. The hit had enough force to send him smacking into the truck. Even with the air knocked out of his lungs he moved though. Quickly dodging the downward swipe of the enemy blade.
That's when he saw it. The thread in the man's fighting style. As they continued to clash. Izuku saw the holes in his technique. With a feint he tricked him into blocking an attack that was never coming. Slashing up he disarmed the villain. In one seamless move he moved to stab him. Only when the blade was about to hit, he froze.
"You are good." An evil laugh followed his statement. Suddenly his glowing eyes made Izuku believe he was looking at a true demon now. Looking down he saw a glow from his hands that stopped his katana from ever reaching him.
Pushing out the villain sent Izuku flying backwards. Smashing into the road he felt several of his bones breaking. Trying to push himself up he choked as blood flooded his lungs. He could see his grandpa's body not too far off. Two other villains stood over Sakonji not even paying him any mind.
A pull was felt around Izuku as he was lifted up into the air, "Too bad you don't have a quirk. Or one that matters any way. You'd be terrifying with that bastards training." He saw the man's other hand reach out. His katana flew into his hand, "Nice sword though."
He admired the blade for a moment. Izuku's katana had a green hue to it. The tsuba was gold, it looked similar to a butterfly. While the tsuka was black. A blue tsuka ito wrapping around it. Finally, the kashira was also gold. Matching the tsuka. It was quite a beautiful weapon Izuku thought as the villain plunged it into his chest.
Butler was in two pieces next to the truck. Its lights were blinking at Izuku. He wasn't sure why, but he didn't seem to have the strength to care anymore. His body was weakening now. Everything around him was slowly fading away, "I don't hurt anymore."
The next thing he knew he was standing on what looked like a mountain top. He felt warm even though there was snow under his toes. Trees and mountains could be seen far into the distance. Walking to the ledge he looked down to see clouds surrounding the base of the mountain.
"Welcome traveler. It is not often I get mortals here." Turning around he saw a old man walking up to him. He carried a katana on his hip. An odachi strapped his back. Both complementing his ornate robes.
"Hello, I'm-" "You are Midoriya Izuku." Izuku froze in shock, "Yes, I've been watching you for some time. A human boy with no power."
"Am I dead san?" Izuku felt tears well up as he realized that this was not a person, "No Midoriya-kun. You are not dead. At least not yet. Let me introduce myself, I am Izanagi."
So many questions began to bubble to the surface as to what was just said to him. Izanagi, the actual creation deity of the Heavens was standing in front of him. Immediately Izuku fell onto his knees in a bow. His head was on his hands. Unsure of how to address something so powerful.
"I have stayed out of the world for over a few millennia. All the divine beings have. Someone had meddled though. Something was created that has now I can no longer ignore it. You are powerful or will be. You will be our weapon to destroy it."
"What?!" Izuku looked up at Izanagi, "I'm not strong though! I'm nothing but a quirkless freak! A deku." He smiled softly. Lifting Izuku up to his feet, "Only one with zero power may have this gift."
His hand pressed against Izuku's chest. A burning sensation went through his entire body, "This is the Heavenly Pack. Goodbye Izuku-kun."
Izuku's eyes opened. Looking around he saw that the two villains were picking up his grandpa and getting ready to take him away. His sword was gone but there was something else. He felt different. He wasn't sure why but he did. They couldn't have him,
Running he punched hitting the back of the first villain. The force of the hit sending him flying away from them. Before the second man could respond he landed several punches to the man's body. Each hit breaking bones. Jumping he landed a powerful kick to his face, shattering his mask and sending him crashing backwards.
Catching Sakonji he slowly lowered his motionless body. Tears burned in his eyes as he left his cold skin, "I'm sorry grandpa. I'm so….." His vision was starting to blur, "I'm so sorry."
Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi looked at the unconscious boy as the medics moved him into an ambulance. The scene was absolutely horrendous. It looked like some sort of attack. The moving truck was destroyed along with some strange robot. Two nearly dead villains were found on the scene along with one dead old man.
"What happened?" Turning around Tsukauchi came face to face with the underground hero Erasure Hero.
Letting out a sigh he looked at the scene, "We don't really know. These two villains are from the Sohei syndicate. The one casualty was Sakonji Midoriya. A sixty-three-year-old man, owned a tea shop and dojo here in Musutafu. He watched over his grandson Izuku Midoriya."
Erasurehead looked over the situation, "Who took down the villains?"
"Apparently the kid. However, we don't expect that to be true." Aizawa huffed, "Why not?"
Looking him directly in the eye, "He's quirkless."
Still trying to figure out what I want to write. I may drop Okami and just pick this up instead. If anyone reads let me know what you think. Thanks for reading
