Exhausting. That was the best way to descriebe the training that Harino was putting Izuku through. Most of it wasn't even combat training. Pushing him to learn parkour, computer hacking, first aid, and many other things. She wanted him to be prepared. Harino told him that there is always the chance he could be alone and cut off without her able to reach him. He needed to be prepared.
When they did focus on combat training it wasn't the way his Grandpa taught him. In the past they'd focus on forms and kata. They did adjust for real world scenario's, but this was different. Harino fought dirty. Using her knowledge to take him down quickly, "Remember! Don't expect your opponents to fight clean. They are Villains!"
After three months of training, he felt he was ready for his first night. As much as he wanted to just take on whoever the HPSC allowed them to get attacked. Izuku knew that he wasn't ready. He hadn't even fought many actual villains. Not to mention getting used to his new strength was tough. It also wasn't consistent. He was stronger than most people, about the strength equal to decent strength and speed quirks. If he was angry though he was beyond faster and way stronger. To the point that he felt it. The power and the strength were intoxicating.
When he wasn't training, he was focused on school and the Tea Shop. Harino had taken his grandpa's place as the owner. It was weird. She wasn't nearly as cheerful as he had been. Harinot was colder, but she cared in her own way. Izuku found her anchoring. Even at the funeral. Izuku couldn't hold back his tears, while she hadn't cried at all.
No, she held him though. Put her hand on his shoulder and gave him a gentle squeeze. The gesture had been small but to Izuku it had been the moment he felt that she was the best person he could have gotten to take care of him.
Walking up to one of his customers he looked at the massive man. He had a rhino quirk. It gave him the tough skin and horn on his head. His massive body towered over almost all the other patrons, "Torioma its great to see you! I brought your regular!" Setting the tea pot down with two teacup, "Where's Kioki?"
The giant man smiled, "She's on her way. We were happy to see you reopened the shop. Who's the old lady that's with you?"
"Oh, she is my guardian Hirano Kyoko." Izuku looked over at the other side of the shop to see her making fun of a boy who shot tea out of his nose, "She is different than Grandpa, but she has been….pretty great so far."
The man smiled, "Hey. Wanna see something?" Izuku nodded as he sat at the table. The man pulled out a ring. It looked so small in his massive hands, "You're going to ask her_"
"Shh. Kioki will be her any minute." Izuku blushed, "Sorry. You two have been coming here since Grandpa took me in. It's just…..about time."
Torioma rolled his eyes, "Yeah yeah. I know you better go back to work."
Izuku watched the happy couple. Kioko didn't have a mutation quirk like her boyfriend. Her short red hair and light blue eyes were in such contrast of her boyfriends, "What's got you so distracted Midoriya?"
"Just watching. They are so happy." Izuku wiped the tears that were welling up in his eyes, "Grandpa would be happy to see them like this."
Hirano ruffled his hair before walking out to help another customer. Izuku helped finish the day before going to Amaterasu. Walking into the base he looked at the costume that he made. It was an armored black and green leather jacket, black armored cargo pants, combat boots, and black gloves. To top it off, a black kitsune mask with a bold green line coming down the right eye.
Getting into his outfit he looked himself in the mirror. He was intimidating, even in his short stature. Quickly grabbing his weapons, he got fully decked out. His tri-fold staff was on his back. Directly below that he had two identical karmabits. On his right leg he had several throwing knives strapped down. On each ankle there was a matching dagger.
Finally, he held his grandpa's katana in his hand. The gold and black sword was beautiful. It felt wrong to use it. He had other katana's here as well. Letting out a sigh, Izuku took it and put the blade back down on it's stand. Walking over he grabbed the one-off all black blades.
"He'd want you to use it." Turning around he smiled under his mask, "I know…...I just can't yet."
Soon enough Izuku was nervously running across rooftops. Jumping he landed onto another roof rolling back to his feet, "Kiddo? You good on your end?"
"Yeah. This is really weird. I'm so nervous." Izuku felt his hands shaking. His nervous energy making his heart race faster than normal, "Everyone is nervous on their first patrol."
Before Izuku could respond a scream rang out. Running he jumped landing not far off. A head of him in the alley. Two thugs were standing in front of a women. The bigger thug reached out and grabbed the girl's wrist. Izuku felt a rage fill his chest as the man pushed himself onto him.
Izuku made his move. Almost appearing in between, them Izuku's foot hit the guy directly behind him. Using his enhanced strength Izuku squeezed the bigger man's shoulder before pulling him off of her. With a quick twist he threw a powerful punch to his chest sending him rolling across the ground. Looking over his shoulder he saw the girl was watching him wide eyed.
The bigger guy's skin grew dragon-like scales. The other thug grew small spikes on his elbows, "Turn around and walk away." His voice distorted made his voice sound deeper and almost robotic.
"Stupid hero." Izuku dropped slightly into a defensive stance, "I'm not a hero."
The villain swung wide. Izuku felt like he was almost in slow motion. Sliding under the massive arm he landed several punches. A slash hit his back from the other villain. Bringing up his elbow up he nailed the villain in the chin. Smiling to himself as the smaller man dropped to the ground unconscious.
"No stop!" Izuku turned around and saw the man trying to take the poor woman. Drawing a throwing knife, he threw it full force into his thigh. The man screamed in pain for only a moment before being knocked out by the vigilante.
Walking up he crouched down in front of the frightened woman, "Are you alright mam." She had light purple hair. Here ears were slightly larger than most, "I-I'm okay. He tried to." Tears formed into her eyes as she launched into his arms. Her sobs made Izuku's chest clench.
"Thank you. Thank you." Standing up she let go reluctantly. Hirano radioed in his ear that she notified the police, and they were on their way, "I must go. The police are on their way."
"Wait who are you?" Izuku hadn't thought about his name. He had so many names for when he'd become a hero. Now though he wasn't sure. Thinking back to the last few months of training. Then the conversation with Izanagi came to his mind. He was given something. A gift or curse he wasn't too sure.
In shinto mythology he read that Amaterasu had banished Susanoo to Earth. He took a princess and turned her into the Yamato no Orochi. An eight headed dragon that guarded its valley. Supposedly a sword was created from its tail. Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. He may not be as powerful as that sword, but he was still something sent to the Earth. Jor purpose he wasn't quite sure of.
"You can call me Orochi." As the sirens came into purview Izuku fled. Watching not to far off to make sure they got the girl alright.
Moving on he ended up stopped several more muggings and thefts. Getting back to Amaterasu he took his mask off. Hirano walked up with a small smile, "You did good work kid. What do you think?"
Izuku felt tears pool in his eyes. Not because he was sad or because he was mourning. He felt tears of joy, "I helped people Hirano. I helped save people." She didn't comment on the drop of honorifics with her name.
"Sakonji would be proud of you Izuku." Tears poured as he flung himself at the the older woman. She held him until he pulled away, "I want to keep doing this. It's what I want to do."
The following day Izuku spent his morning doing his online school. Finishing that he went down to the tea shop. Walking in he said hello to a few of his regulars. As he was walking through, he saw a few different people, but one had caught his eye.
He was a boy around the same height as him. He had light brown hair, brown eyes, and tan skin. He went to one of the middle schools near here. Though Izuku wasn't quite sure which one. Taking care a few customers at the counter he walked over, "Hello! Welcome to Midotea! Can I help you with something?"
"Um yeah can I just get a hot green tea." Izuku nodded politely before going back to the counter. Grabbing the boy a pot of tea before returning. Setting it down he smiled, "There you go. Anything else?"
"No." As Izuku turned around but was stopped, "How come I haven't seen you at school?"
"Oh, I'm home schooled. Other kids don't…..really get along with me." What caught Izuku by surprise was an understanding look in his eyes. Izuku couldn't help but wonder what this boys quirk was.
Rubbing the back of his head he awkwardly looked at the table, "Sorry. I didn't mean to…..I get it though." Izuku didn't say anything else as he went back to helping other customers. Watching the boy closely he saw that he never pulled his phone out to text anyone. He seemed so lonely.
In a coffee shop not to far off was Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa sat reading over the file he had from the previous night. Fourteen seperate incidents. Twenty-three villains all apprehended by a guy in a kitsune mask. Many of them having pretty severe injuries.
In one of the fights, he had used a tri-fold staff and injured five villains. It was impressive if it had been actually legal. Shaking his head, he just hoped that the guy backed off before either he got hurt or he crossed the line to villain.
"Hello Naomasa. It's good to see you, my friend." Looking up he saw one of his oldest friends Toshironi Yagi. It was still so hard to believe that the frail man was one of the most powerful heroes that have ever existed, "Hey Toshironi. Good to see you."
Putting the folder to the side he gave the hero his undivided attention "What have you got there old friend?"
"Oh, don't worry about it. It's just some new vigilante that showed up." Toshironi chuckled, "Never ends does it."
"No. It does not." The detective chuckled, "He goes by Orochi. The man's skilled. Extremely skilled actually. Some sort of physical enhancement quirk."
"Need help?" Tsukauchi shook his head, "We have got this one. He will get caught soon or disappear. So heard you're going to be a teacher at UA on the new school year."
"I am hoping to find my successor." Toshironi looked out the window, "Can't help but wonder though. With him gone, is it worth passing on the torch?"
"There will always be a need for a symbol of peace you." Toshironi agreed with that more than the detective knew. However, he knew he'd be gone. Even with his quirk would the next one be able to keep that kind of presence?
Izuku was out again. His second full night as a vigilante. He had stopped several thugs and a few petty criminals. So far it had been a pretty good. Sitting on a roof he lifted his mask to eat his sandwich. Looking around calmly he tried to think of his next move. He didn't stick to a strict patrol so far. It would only alert the heroes to him easier.
Harino believed that the cops were going to be on to him after his second night. That they would be looking for the vigilante that had arrived. There weren't to many vigilantes out there. In fact, Izuku only knew of two others in Musutafu and they were a duo. Not that Izuku actually knew anything about them. They were small time; one had some sort of speed quirk while the other had some sort of bone quirk.
After finishing his sandwich Izuku jumped back into his patrol. Running across the roof he stopped only when he saw a group of regular thugs meeting with some pretty high classed villains. Deciding to get a closer look Izuku jumped down onto a small shed.
"Fully auto-matic, these rifles can hit heroes before even Snipe can get a shot off." The thug that seemed to be the leader rolled his eyes, "Fuck man. You think guns can help against hero. At least give me trigger or some shit."
"Trigger is overrated. Think kid. Guns give an edge that your weak ass quirks can't help with. What happens if you run into someone like Eraserhead? You need these." Izuku decided enough was enough. These were pretty expensive weapons. He would need to hurry.
Jumping he landed in the middle of all of them. His tri-fold staff was in his hands, "Sorry to interrupt. Heard about some weapons that need to go down."
Looking around he saw there were easily twenty villains. Eight of them were from the salesman while the rest were all thugs. Outside of the leaders, the thugs would probably be the easiest to take down. Out of the corner of his eye, Izuku saw a gun get drawn.
Just as the shot went off Izuku moved. The bullets grazed his leather jacket, but it was too late. He was in front of the gunman. With a quick swing he hit the man causing him to smash into a car. Spinning the staff he twisted. Deflecting a man with a pincer quirk. Swinging up he hit the man in up before swinging back down. The hit was so hard it created a small crater.
Two thugs charged him. Blocking the first one he twirled the staff them away like bugs, "What the fuck is with this guy!" Hearing his men freaking out the thug leader moved. Surprising Izuku his quirk made him grow. His size was at least three times Izuku's now. With a quick smack he sent Izuku crashing across the parking lot.
Rolling up to his feet he prepared for the next attack. Four of the thugs were about to attack him only for Izuku to move fast enough for him to take them each down before their quirks activated. Soon the only ones left standing were the two leaders. Both were looking at the shinobi looking vigilante with a twinge of fear and frustration.
Izuku's body hurt. He had taken several hits in the battle. There was definitely a massive bruise on his lower back, "Last chance to surrender."
"Fuck this guy!" The massive villain looked down at him in annoyance. Izuku dropped his staff and put his hand on the hilt to his katana. The other villain chuckled. Lifting his hand blood shot out of his hand. The speed was incredible. Izuku jumped out of the way barely dodging the attack.
Drawing his katana, Izuku saw four blood spikes headed his way. Swinging his sword, he destroyed each one before dodging a powerful punch. Spinning he brought his blade down on the back of the giant villain's leg. The cut was massive making him drop. Only he managed to hit Izuku. Flying through the air Izuku crashed into a streetlight. Yelling out in pain as he fell to the ground.
"Damn it." Gripping hi sword tightly he looked up to see the other villain. A ball of blood floated in his hands. Smacking them together he shot out another line of blood. Izuku rolled out of the way. But the man moved the blood making it follow him.
Izuku jumped and flipped around the attacks. Using his katana to deflect the villains strikes as best he could. Before Izuku could move again though, the attack hit its mark. The blood pierced through his jacket on his shoulder. Taking him and smashing him into a tall building.
Standing up he looked at the villain who was laughing, "You're good I can give you that. Not good enough."
In a swift move Izuku threw a knife. The blade barely missed the villain as he dodged. Looking back at Izuku he saw the boy bringing the hilt of his weapon down on his neck. The blunt impact echoed out as his eyes rolled back and he fell to the ground.
"Kid. What's going on?" Izuku stowed his sword as he slowly climbed up the side of the building, "I'm okay." His breathing was almost heavy.
Hirano cursed before responding to him, "Get over two blocks. I'm coming to get you. Heroes and cops are on their way."
Izuku followed her orders. Slowly moving until he dropped off a building and landing in a dumpster. His body was screaming at him. A car pulled up and he felt his breathe hitch. Only to see Harino's familiar blonde hair, "Damn it kid." Reaching down she pulled him up and put him in the back of her car only for him to lose consciousness.
Daiyama watched as a single vigilante took on twenty gangsters. He and Itana were responding to the sound of fighting only to see another vigilante fighting in a full-on battle. He could tell that they weren't used to this kind of fighting. Taking quite a few hits. Daiyama though couldn't tell what this guy's quirk was.
It had to be some kind of physical enhancement. It was absolutely terrifying. Not to mention how effective he was. His attacks were fast and efficient. Definitely not lacking power either. Looking at his friend she was just as enamored by this guy, "We should go before the heroes show up. With this much fighting someone has to of called it in."
"Right." Grabbing her hand, she teleported them to her nearest marker. They could only hope that the vigilante managed to escape. Daiyama thought that maybe he could be an ally. That was something they were lacking.
Tsukauchi stood in the parking lot that the villains were found in. Apparently, they were doing some kind of weapons deal. Only for Orochi to come in and beat them down. Every villain either had broken bones or severe laceratioin from a sword or blade, "Detective. What happened here?"
Eraser head was a sight for sore eyes. He was one of the most efficient heroes that Tsukauchi had ever worked with. He also had a way with vigilantes, "Gun sale interrupted. Was a pretty bad fight."
"How many?" Looking around he felt his headache coming back, "Twenty villains. All beaten by a single vigilante."
Eraserhead looked at him with wide eyes, "One. Are you sure?"
Pulling out the file he had on his phone the detective sent it over to the hero, "I just sent you the info on him. One man wears a kitsune mask and is decked out in full gear. He's pretty new to the scene. His methods are pretty brutal. Though he hasn't killed anyone…...yet."
"What's his quirk?" Tsuakauchi shrugged, "Most we have to go on is either physical enhancement or weapon mastery. He is pretty short but has incredible power."
"Well. I'll look into it." Putting his phone away Aizawa turned around and started walking off, "At least I'll be able to figure out if he's a threat or not." Hopefully they could get this guy to join the hero ranks. He definitely had potential. At least for now.
