Binding Feathers

When Hawks is banished by his family, his younger sister runs away from her duty right into a young Deku's arms. Deku and Bakugo embrace their first chance to be heroes and protect Kuri and Reiko from the horrors of family honor. But when they realize that the duty the girl is trying desperately to avoid is the very thing holding villains in check, will they be able to stop them?

16. Darkness

The teeth spread out over the battlefield.

"Whoa." Bakugo backed off.

The teeth attacked, moving in for the kill.

Above them, Kuri flew, releasing her feathers. "Seeking feathers raje! Light!" Kuri sent glowing feathers to everyone. "That will guide them in the dark." Kuri wavered, in pain. "Cmon cmon one more. Just one more…"

Deku crushed the feather in his fist as Kuri landed in his arms. The pain hit him like a steamroller, and he could barely stand, but he kept it up, He had to protect her…like she protected him.-

Kuri clutched him and they headed back towards the main camp.

Meanwhile, Bakugo turned to Reiko. "Your quirk! You can use scents, so get some plants that release a counteracting gas!"

Reiko was sheepish and used her plants to counteract the gas so he could use his explosions.

Booms went off in Bakugo's hands. "Nowww were talkin!"

Reiko grinned and fought along side him, keeping the gas at bay.

Kuri landed, sending Deku off after Bakugo. Kuri went forward and got attacked by Dark Shadow.

"Get away I can't…" Tokoyami whimpered.

Kuri just smiled. "Shibi. Calm." Kuri stroked Dark Shadow's head. "It's alright. Calm down now, your scaring your friend. Tokoyami is your best friend, ne?" Kuri helped him up. "If I'm here we can keep him calm." Kuri tapped the active rune on her shoulder. "But I can't do anything else, so you'll have to protect me."

Bakugo looked around. "Where the hell is deku?"

Reiko pointed at the approaching figure.

Deku ran to them. "Kacchan! It's you there after!"

"Yer late deku. And I'm fine." Bakugo shot back.

Deku huffed. "We still can't let them get you."

"Hey Katsu?" Reiko looked worried. "Can we at least make sure you don't get taken?"

"Fine. Whatever." Bakugo groused.

Kuri was knocked over by Himiko. "Tokoyami!" Kuri tossed a glowing feather to him. "Hold that so dark shadow doesn't go nuts again! Find kacchan and protect him! Dark shadow is the strongest one out here! Go! "

Himiko grinned "You look so pretty! Lemme have some of your blood!"

"GO!"

Tokoyami escaped into the night.
