The sun…Slowly rising from the horizon…marks the beginning of another day in the city.
A day…so different than the last one
Bingo and her sister hop down the family car and walk to school to start their second day of middle school. Bluey has a fairly good amount of morale, but the story is different for Bingo…who only spoke around ten words in the whole morning.
Bingo's conscience was still heavy after what happened while having dinner with her family. She was still mad at her father for mistrusting Dougie and not even bothering to learn his name first. A slight wave of amusement got to her when her sister told her earlier that she and her mother forced Bandit to sleep on the couch…she guessed that was fitting, but Bingo was never that dog to punish others for wronging her.
With her second day of middle school in front of her…the only thought rigging her head is…
To survive
That was also what was rigging in Dougie's head as he walked with his mother from the teacher's parking lot in the back of the school toward the interior.
After visiting Dr Acosta yesterday and receiving instructions not to use the cochlear devices as often, Dougie devised a plan while eating hamburgers with his mother: He would alternate between the two devices to ensure he covered as much distance from the beginning of classes to the end. Smart idea by a smart young Cavapoo, but theory can only get him so far.
After going through the doors, Mariella waves slightly at him, their personal signal that she wants to communicate to him in ASLAN, So Dougie stops and looks at his mother for her to signal him [Im, going, to, speak, with, the principal, about, the, situation, if, anything, goes, wrong, dont, doubt, to, come, to, the, library, again]
[Ok] Dougie signals her [What, about, the, teachers?]
[I, will, talk, to, all, of, them, even, the social studies teacher, in, your, first, class]
[Ok, lets go] Dougie signals for the last time and begins to walk towards his first class…
Social studies
It was also Bingo's first class of the day…WAY better than starting with math… seriously, masochist the one who takes Math first thing in the morning
After entering through the main door into the main hall, where a large number of students of all breeds and colors hang around in separate groups, Bluey didn't take long to find her group of friends, some of whom she had been friends since her time in Glasshouse with Ms. Calypso and some other she became friends with when she started middle school, but Bingo did not care to have a repetition of yesterday of being ignored by her sister and friends, so without Bluey realizing, Bingo separates from her and walks away to where she *thinks* her next classroom is
On the other side of the school, Dougie and his mother finally arrived at the empty classroom with the name tag next to the door that said "Professor Lucas." They spotted the black and brown chihuahua sitting behind his table, looking at his computer.
Dougie decides to put his plan in motion and only turns on his right device to listen to the conversation.
"Gday, Mr Lucas, how are you doing this morning?" Mariella says in that sweet voice Dougie will never get tired of listening
"I'm doing well, Mariella." Lucas turns to look at the Cavapoo duo. "What can I do for you today?"
"You see…This is Dougie, my son. This is his first year in middle school, and as you can see, he has hearing aids," Mariella explains.
"Cochlear devices… Are those the same devices that came out faulty?"
"Yes, exactly. I'm here today to ask you to pay extra attention to him in your class. We talked to our doctor, and he says to minimize the use of the hearing aids. So if you can have one student stick with him and help him if needed, that would be awesome."
Lucas leans out to look beyond the Cavapoo after feeling the presence of someone coming in. He was right, and he called him "Rusty!"
Mariella and Dougie turn around to see the newcomer, a red Kelpie slightly taller than Dougie with a tuft of hair coming out of his head, a military tag hanging from his neck, and a blue backpack. After hearing the teacher calling him, Rusty walks to his desk, asking with his rough voice, "What's wrong, Professor Lucas?"
"This kid called…"
"Dougie," The Cavapoo answers.
"Dougie, needs help following the class. He is not going to be using his device the whole class, so if he has a question, he needs an answer. So, can you sit next to him in this class?"
"Yeah, of course," Rusty responds happily.
"Good." Lucas looks at his watch and then at the two teenagers. "Classes are about to start; take advantage there is no one here, and sit down in front of the desk."
"Yes, Sir," Rusty responds sharply with a military salute before moving to sit on the chair closest to the desk.
Dougie looks at his mother, who has already turned around to leave, and signals her [I, will, be, fine, I, love, you, mom]
[I, love, you, too, son] Mariella signs back before leaving the classroom
Dougie moves to sit next to Rusty. He puts his backpack next to the chair and sits down to relax, grateful for having people who can help him.
"Mate," Rusty calls him, making Dougie turn his head towards him. The red Kelpie extends his hand to present himself. "Rusty, nice to meet you, buddy."
A soft smile appears on Dougie's face, and he grabs his hand to shake it. "Dougie, nice to, meet you too."
While Dougie has Rusty helping him, unbeknownst to the Cavapoo…
Bingo found herself in the same position as yesterday, going side to side in the hallway looking for her class.
"015" Bingo says as she gives a quick look at the door number before going to the other side and read another number.
"016"
"017"
"019…What?"
"018"
"020!"
After learning her lesson yesterday with Ms Charlotte, Bingo normally opens the door without looking at the name tag. Her soul is immediately hit by the erie smell of 'You shouldn't be here' as she quickly looks at the empty classroom and shifts her sights to the figure behind the laptop, whose shape resembles a big German shepherd.
Bingo slowly walks going deeper and deeper into the classroom with her ears totally up to have a seat and browse social media on her cell phone until the bell,
But even without making a sound
"!"
The ears of the German Shepherd raise and raise its head to look above the laptop to reveal its armor-piercing eyes behind its reading glasses.
Bingo's eyes open in terror when her iris locks into the dog's eyes as if they are telling her, 'You screwed up big time.'
"Bingo April Heeler…" The dog reveals her old, frightening female voice as she sits straight. "...Sister of Bluey Christine Heeler"
"How do you know my full name?" Bingo asked, scared of the amount of Personal information the adult lady threw at her
"One of my jobs as a teacher is to learn every strength and weakness of my students…and the unfortunate fact that your sister is…a special case… made it easier to learn about you."
"What do you mean 'Special case?'" Bingo asks, whispering as if she is not even sure if she wants to know or if she wants to keep talking to the scary lady
"Your sister has been a pain in my butt ever since she stepped foot in my classroom," The teacher told slowly and with a lot of years of experience in her voice. "I thought you would be the same annoying story. But, considering you got here before the bell tells me that you might be a better student than her."
Bingo gulps saliva,
Her mind was telling her.
"GO, GO, GO, GO"
But the teacher's imposing influence made her stay still, afraid of what she would do to her if she ever attempted to escape.
Out of nowhere, the idea of being ignored by her sister's friends…EVEN WORSE, Taking Math class as her first class of the day like a masochist sounds extremely good for her.
"Take a seat," The teacher says. "Im going to start the class."
"But the bell hasn't rang yet…"
"Bingo!" The teacher raised her voice, probably for her; that's her normal voice when asking for something. But for Bingo, she felt an earthquake under her as one tear is trying to make a run to get out of her eyes. "One thing you need to know to succeed in middle school is that you might make sacrifices to have good grades and to be better prepared for exams."
"..." Bingo just stayed quiet, following the philosophy of 'If you don't move, the T-rex can't see you.'
"C'mon, take a seat. you will thank me for this later."
Still, with her afraid face painted on her, Bingo slowly turns around and sits down on the chair behind her with her backpack behind her
"Now…" the teacher stands up and grabs a marker to write on the whiteboard. "This is what we are going to see this year…"
With the mother of all evil teachers in the world writing and explaining with the marker, Bingo keeps looking at her. With the whole class still talking and having fun before the start of the courses in the main hall, Bingo maintains her eyes wide open as if she just saw a ghost…
More accurately…
As if she is watching the ultimate queen of her nightmares.
Objective: Survive…
Failed
I'm pretty sure starting classes before the first bell is illegal…somewhere.
There is always that teacher…always.
