"well Butch, you did quite a good job healing you and your brother. not a scratch in sight" the orphanage nurse commented as she carefully inspected the side of Bricks head.
"you could easily become a doctor one day" she continued, looking over at Butch, who was sitting in a chair.
"nah, now if you excuse me, I'm gonna go check if any lanterns are broken! they pay me a dollar for helping them replace it!" Butch replied as he stood up and began walking out of the room.
"good for you" Brick grumbled.
"now, you might want to give your jaw a rest for a few hours. don't eat any hard food for the rest of the day okay? and try not to talk much" the nurse told the red-haired boy.
Brick nodded with a frown before getting up off the backless couch and leaving.
Boomer ran down the road leading out of townsville, Chloe still in his arms holding tightly onto him as he zoomed in a blue flash, which now contained a dash of dark brown from her hair.
"uh Boomer, we're well away from the Powerpuff girls and their fight now, you can slow down. besides, I'm gonna be sick if you keep this up" Chloe told him before he ran off the road and onto the grass, coming to a halt as he left an obvious mark in the dirt.
"hold on a second" Chloe muttered as she stood up out of his grasp before stumbling over to a nearby bush and puking into it, much to Boomers disgust.
"note to self, super speed can, and will, cause carsickness" Boomer muttered to himself, looking away as Chloe mumbled a curse word, although he couldn't tell which one, before puking again.
"you wanna head back now? promise we'll walk the rest of the way" Boomer queried, pointing in the direction of the orphanage with a finger-less hand.
"yeah, I really need the fresh air" Chloe groaned, whipping the last of the brown substance with her arm.
"so have you decided who you want to adopt?" a worker asked Emily and Antony.
"well, those rowdyruff boys seem quite nice and sweet. we'd like to consider fostering them, for at least a few days. see how it works out" Emily replied as Antony nodded in agreement.
"noo! I'm not doing it! let go of me!" Brick yelled as Butch dragged him into a nearby room.
Antony signed something with a confused look on his face.
"I'm wondering the same thing. what was that?" Emily asked.
"oh, Brick is really bad at brushing his hair and needs to get it cut. he also really hates getting his hair cut apparently" the worker replied.
Antony signed something else with the slightest frustration on his features.
"agreed. it'll be a struggle to deal with that" Emily spoke with a similar expression on her face.
Boomer entered the bedroom, sitting down on his bed, the first bed on the right from the door.
"where's Bri and But?" he asked himself, only for Brick to speed past him into his own bed and hide under the covers.
"woah, what's up with Brick?" Boomer asked as Butch entered the room.
"oh, he's just mad because it turns out his hair was so tangled they were only able to get out all the tangles after cutting it really short. and he really doesn't like having really short hair" Butch explained as Brick screamed into his pillow.
"why did you do this to me!?" Brick complained as he sat up, revealing himself to now have hair too short to be styled in any way except loose.
"oh, wow. that, is a look" Boomer muttered, letting out the smallest chuckle.
"your hair was too tangled to even brush! cutting it was the only option. plus, you look hilarious" Butch spoke, clearly holding back laughter.
Brick scoffed before hiding under the blanket again.
"anyways, where were you? I had to drag Brick all by myself. do you have any idea how difficult that was?" Butch queried.
"I was in townsville with Chloe" Boomer replied, still shaken up by earlier.
"Chloe? isn't she one of the girls from the next bedroom over?" Butch asked.
"yeah. I went with her to the store because she was afraid of bad guys trying to attack her. but we encountered a problem" Boomer responded with a nervous look.
"what was the problem?" Brick muttered.
"we uh...kind of came across the powerpuff girls fighting a monster. we hid in an alleyway until one of them tore off the building we were hiding behind. then I panicked, picked her up and ran back here. well, halfway here. turns out super speed can cause carsickness. it was not a pretty sight" Boomer explained.
"did they see you?" Brick asked.
"uh, no. they didn't" Boomer replied.
"then its fine" Brick muttered, his voice muffled from his face being pressed against the pillow.
"oi Brick! I got you something" Butch announced as he entered the bedroom, slamming the door behind him.
"what?" Brick replied, still hiding under the covers.
"I got you a beanie. to hide your hilarious hairdo" Butch spoke, tossing the piece of clothing in his hand onto Bricks bed.
Brick sat up, his hair wild and fluffed from hiding under his blanket.
"why is it pink!?" Brick exclaimed, holding up the bright pink beanie.
Boomer let out a loud snort before bursting into laughter.
"it was the only color they had" Butch replied with a smirk.
"But, I know you're lying" Brick scowled.
"But!? what the heck is that kind of nickname?" Butch complained.
"I came up with it. its a shortened version of your name" Boomer admitted.
"gosh Boo, that's horrible. just like everything else you come up with" Butch remarked.
Boomer instantly stopped laughing and gave him a terrifying scowl.
"I'm still calling you Boo, Boo" the raven-haired boy replied, rolling his eyes.
"wait then what's my nickname?" Brick asked.
"Bri" Boomer replied with a smile.
"I'm pretty sure that's a type of cheese" Brick spoke before Butch burst out laughing.
"your-your nickname, is a type of cheese!?" Butch wheezed through giggles.
"forget I said anything" Brick grumbled, hiding his hair under the bright pink beanie.
"you look even funnier then I thought you would!" Butch cackled, gasping for breath.
"ugh...it's either this or everyone sees me practically bald" Brick muttered to himself.
"hey! my hairs almost as short as yours!" Butch complained, instantly stopping his laughter.
"like I said, practically bald" the red-haired boy replied as he rolled his eyes.
Butch scowled with frustration as Brick readjusted his beanie to hide most of his hair.
