Rocky's Christmas Parachute:
Chapter 4: Mysteries After Dinner
After measuring the triangles to make sure everything was properly sewed together, Rocky carefully moved and sewed the four big green triangles of fabric that were spread out on the floor. Once he was satisfied, the mixed breed put the sewing thread and needle on a nearby table.
"Great, now I just need to ... Oh come on!" Rocky said happily until his stomach growled. Rocky groaned before looking at the clock on the wall. It was five o clock in the afternoon.
"Woah! I've been working for hours on my Christmas tree parachute; no wonder I'm hungry! Time for a break," Rocky told himself. After making sure all the green triangles were sewed tight to the green fabric correctly, Rocky put his supplies away, walked out of the room, then closed the door.
"Pups, dinner time!" Ryder announced as he walked out to the main lower room with filled up dog bowls in his arms. Rocky ran over to the boy happily, as well as the rest of the team after they ran in from the sliding front doors. Ryder put the dog bowls down before the food was devoured by the hungry pups. The meal was delicious. After several long minutes, all the pups were full.
"Thank you Ryder. May I go back to my project?" Rocky asked the ten year old boy.
"Yes you may, but I could use your help with organizing some tools in the basement first. I meant to ask yesterday, but I forgot!" Ryder replied. The gray mixed breed sighed before agreeing, and followed Ryder into the elevator, before going down to the lower garage.
"I wondew what Wocky's been doing in the back woom? I haven't seen him all day!" Zuma commented.
"Maybe we should check and find out?" Marshall suggested.
"What if it's a surprise? We don't want to ruin it!" Skye pointed out.
"Agreed. We don't want to upset him by seeing something he doesn't want us to see!" Chase exclaimed respectfully.
"True, but it's not like Rocky hasn't gotten upset when we see him working on something. Besides, Ryder and Rocky always know how to surprise us!" Rubble responded matter-of-factly.
Chase was about to comment, but even he had to admit Rubble DID have a point.
"We could... Hold on," Chase said before pressing his pup tag. After a few beeps, Rocky's came through the German Shephard's blue pup tag.
"Hi? Who called?" Rocky asked as the blue pup tag glowed.
"Hi Rocky, it's Chase. The pups and I were wondering what you've been working on all day," Chase asked, looking at his pup tag.
"I've been working on my - Ahhh! Ryder! Aaahhhhh! Help!" Rocky replied before screaming and a loud Brrrrrrraaaaaa noise was heard. Suddenly, the call dropped, and Chase's pup tag stopped glowing blue.
"Well I don't think Rocky is available. Plus there's no sign on the door, so I think it's safe to go see Rocky's project," Chase guessed. The rest of the pups nodded before going to the back door, and opening it.
Meanwhile, in the basement, Rocky was running, and jumping while a chainsaw was spin at full power! It was a miracle that the pup was unharmed, but with the out of control power tool spinning on the floor, the two friends had to be careful.
"Turn it off! Turn it off!" Rocky screamed in fright as he jumped onto a table. Ryder carefully watched the spinning device, before he hopped onto chairs and tables. Soon, he jumped towards an outlet and unplugged it. No luck, as the chainsaw was still spinning while the blade was attempting to cut anything in its path.
"It's not turning off! It must be battery powered or malfunctioning! Maybe both!" Ryder yelled to Rocky. The boy then jumped onto the same table Rocky was on, before bending down. "Rocky, jump on and hold on tight!"
The mixed breed didn't need to be told twice, as he jumped onto Ryder's back and held onto his shoulders. Ryder carefully held Rock with one hand, and kept his balance with the other. After jumping on more tables and chairs, Ryder was able to make it across the room to the elevator.
"We gotta turn it off. That out of control chainsaw is dangerous!" Ryder told Rocky as the two looked around for a solution.
"Well there's got to be a way to stop it! I mean, it's not like The Lookout is haunted!" Rocky replied, half joking.
Back upstairs, the pups looked into the room only to see a massive, pile of dark green fabric spread out on the ground. Apart from a needle, scissors, and thread on a table in the back of the room there was nothing else in the room.
"Well, this is nothing much to go on!" Chase said as he carefully stepped into the room and eyed the dark green fabric. Marshall, Skye, Zuma and Rubble did the same. As they all wondered on the massive fabric though, they were unaware of the 'branches' Rocky had sewed on earlier.
"I give Rocky credit for going all green but this is ridiculous! Huh?" Rubble said before one of his back paws got caught in the fabric.
"Hang on Rubble, I got you... Uh oh!" Marshall reassured as he approached his friend, only to get his paws stuck in the fabric too.
"You silly pups. I got this! Just stay still and ... Hey! I can't move!" Zuma commented as his back paws got stuck in the green material too.
"Hehehe. Oh my. Let me help you guys out... Wait, why is... What on earth?" Skye stated with a giggle. However upon walking over to help the male pups, her paws got stuck in the green fabric too.
"Oh boy! Guess I have to save you all! Seriously, how can a piece of fabric cause so much trouble?" Chase said with an eye roll. He walked carefully to help the pups... Only to get his paws stuck in the fabric too.
"Oh, come on! Rocky, what have you done?!" Chase exclaimed in frustration. Chase tried to free his paws from the dark green fabric, but it was tricky. His pup friends weren't have much success either.
"I have no idea, but we can't just wait around like this! Let's call Ryder," Rubble suggested. He tried to press his pup tag, but he could barely reach it. The others ended up in the same situation; they couldn't reach their pup tags either with their paws stuck. Sadly, they couldn't walk over, and touch the pup tags with their noses either, since all of them weren't within stretching distance.
"No use! How awe we going to get help, if we can't call with ouw pup tags?" Zuma asked his friends.
"Well, we'll have to go get Ryder! Come on - Woah!" Marshall said calmly. Unfortunately, the dalmatian pup forgot his paws were stuck as well, so when he started to run, Marshall tripped and flew towards the door. The clumsy trip however, caused the pile of dark green fabric to go flying through the air, and cover all the pups completely!
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!" Chase, Skye, Zuma, and Rubble all screamed as the big, dark green fabric came floating down, covering them all under it.
"Oof! I'm okay! ... Hey! Who turned out the lights?" Marshall exclaimed before realizing he was trapped under something, now unable to see anything.
