It's been far too long since she's had a moment of calm, of peace. A moment free of worry and stress and carefully worded sitreps and debriefs. Even with all her carefully planned arrangements and security measures in place, she should have known it wouldn't last.

Sometimes, more than others, it's harder for Jack to stand down and walk away.

Mac makes his way across the expanse of the hanger bay, each step halting, harder, and more painful than the last. Flashfic drabble written for Whumptober 2023, Day 10 "You said you'd never leave."

After today, there is one of Jack's rules that Mac will never ever follow again.

Mac needs to disarm a bomb. Problem is that he has to run through fire to get to it. Afterwards Jack helps Mac to get to exfil in time.

Jack accidentally concussed Mac on a mission. Now he has to get Mac to Exfil. Afterwards Jack mother hens Mac because he feels guilty.
