Chapter 5:
Facing Off The Intruders
Along the way to get back to warn the others, Twilight, Sunset, and Spike heard the sound of flapping wings and looked up to see a Dreadwing dropping another bomb down. As it exploded, it cleared away some wood to reveal huge spiders. A few members of the Dark Army were minding their own business until suddenly the two spiders pounced on two soldiers, likely devouring them while one managed to escape and run away in fear.
Unfortunately for him, a third big Spider was hiding on a ledge high above him. And when the third soldier was about to escape, the third Spider leaped down and landed on him, devouring him alive.
"Looks like we're going to have to fight these Spiders to get past, aren't we?" Twilight asked, turning to Spike and Sunset.
"I'm all in for fighting these big freaky arachnids," Sunset replied, getting herself ready to fight the Spiders.
"When in doubt, fight these creepy crawlers out," Spike added, shrugging his shoulder.
And fighting the three giant Spiders they did. Twilight handled the first spider by using her aerial combat skills and melee on it before headbutting it away, defeated.
After dealing with the Spider, the two Alicorns and Spike approached one of the torches, which Sunset lit up with her Fire Magic and Twilight lit up the second one with her magic while Spike climbed up a small waterfall and used his Dragon Fire to lit up the third and final torch.
With all the torches lit up, the gates opened up, but behind it, a monster snail was exiting with a Soldier of the Dark Army riding on it. But Twilight, Sunset, and Spike took care of that with ease. Twilight used her Time Fury to make things slow for them, which got Sunset and Spike quite surprised that Twilight could somehow freeze and slow things down. But they put that question aside.
The three then melee on the Snail Rider until they knocked down the rider and his snail to the ground, defeated. And right before Twilight's Time Fury ran out.
"Now, how's that?" Twilight asked, blowing the smoke off her horn before turning to see Spike and Sunset looking at her with shock and surprise on their faces.
"Twilight, that thing you did back there. How did all that happened?" Spike asked, frantically wanting to know how Twilight was able to freeze time with her powers.
"I'll explain later, Spike. But right now we need to get back to the Temple and warn the others, fast," Twilight reminded him, putting his question aside for now until they're done helping their friends with the intruders.
Once they entered through the gates, Twilight, Spike, and Sunset had a few encounters with the Dark Army, Monster Bull-Dogs, and they even managed to avoid collapsing floors and traps. Once they made it back outside, the two Alicorns and Dragon looked up and saw three Dreadwings flying in the direction of the Temple.
Ahead of them, the Mane 2 and Spike looked to see the gates opening, revealing a Commander exiting and ordering his monster dogs to attack them. But even they didn't stand a chance against two powerful Alicorns and a fire-breathing Dragon. After defeating the dogs and the Commander, Twilight, Spike, and Sunset managed to jump and light up three torches on the ledges above them.
After all three torches were lightened up, the gates opened up and the three friends continued on their quest to warn their friends about the temple being under attack.
