Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta.

I made her backstory sad in the last chapter since I wanted her life as Astrid to be tragic, just like her life as Serenity was. It doesn't parallel her the anime/manga exactly, but it's a nod to that. I'm trying to at least give a nod to the original story while making this very different. I don't want to completely change EVERYthing. I hope you are enjoying this story.

Present-day back in Tokyo…...

Usagi sat in the dark, staring across the room. As a vampire, she had perfect vision even with virtually no lighting. What would have usually given her a considerable advantage, her vision, wasn't so in this case. In this case, werewolves had nighttime vision that was almost as good. It was close enough that in this instance, one where she didn't intend to instigate a fight, the playing field was leveled.

What gave her the advantage she was playing was that they didn't know what she was. They thought she was a nosy human woman. She loved being underestimated. It was such a joy to see the shock that always occurred when someone found out the truth.

She tapped her foot and waited for the four werewolves to get home. Getting the invite to the poker game was huge. Her knowledge of property deeds helped hugely in that. She had been able to identify Nephrite as the mansion owner and have Andrew call him before.

When she heard them nearing the place that night, she reclined, showing them she was perfectly relaxed.

They all sensed her at once, but it was Kunzite, predictably, that spoke. "You're not very smart, are you? You accuse me of murder and then come here by yourself."

She smiled at him and said, "police and attorneys accuse. I said you're a killer. I'm not required to believe you innocent until proven guilty."

She shifted and placed the back of her hand against her forehead in an overly dramatic fashion. "Alas, I'm able to skip that part and say you've killed nine men. All of them on purpose and all of them were despicable human beings."

Nephrite scoffed and sat down on the couch near her chair. "You expect us to believe you don't care about murder? You have 'bleeding heart' written all over you. I bet you rescue kittens in your spare time and haven't ever killed a bug."

Zoisite frowned and looked at her carefully. He prided himself on being able to read people. "Something's off about her. I just don't know what it is."

Jadeite rolled his eyes and plopped down in the armchair across from her. "Thanks, Captain Obvious. She's in our home late at night by herself and accusing Kunzite of killing nine people. And I know we can all tell that she doesn't have the slightest scent of fear on her. Can we finish this up so that I can get my notes and head back to my place at the temple?" He looked straight at Usagi and said, "scram, little girl."

Usagi reached down to grab a concealed tote bag off the floor and pulled out a thick manila folder. She then tossed it onto the coffee table. It hit with a thud, and a picture slipped out. It was of a man who had been stabbed in the throat. He was obviously dead.

"There's a copy of my evidence on the nine. It's not a ton, but as I said, I'm not looking to prove it in court. I'm proving that I know what I'm talking about to the one who did the killing. Go ahead and take a look, Kunzite."

He reached down, plucked up the file, and sat on the other end of the couch that Nephrite sat on. He flipped through and carefully guarded his reaction. She had photos of them all. He was astounded. He didn't know how that was even possible.

He closed the file and tossed it back to the coffee table. "What's your end goal?"

"Mamoru."

"What does he have to do with this?" Zoisite asked, very interested. He was fascinated by any puzzle, and she was shaping up to be a huge one.

"He's off limits in this game."

"Game?"

She smiled and stretched, "yup, I'm making my move against Diamond. At the moment, you're on his side. As long as you are, Mamoru will be in danger."

"And Andrew? Isn't he your little boyfriend?"

She scoffed, "no, he's the best friend of the man I'm going to date. Mamoru is off limits. You harm him even the slightest and I kill each one of you."

"You say this to a man you see as a killer? Would you even trust me?" Kunzite asked.

Usagi counted on her fingers, "one dirty cop, three sex traffickers, two murderers, and my favorite, three rapists. I don't care that you killed them. And yes, since you seem to have a pseudo-moral code, I'd believe you."

"Says the kitten rescuer," Jadeite scoffed.

"Shut up. You assaulted me, so I don't care what you have to say."

He actually fidgeted then. "You…I shouldn't have."

She raised an eyebrow at him, "you're embarrassed?"

He scratched his neck. "Yeah, well, I was a bit of a hothead that day."

"No, you were a hothead because of that night. It was just after the full moon and you were still affected by what had happened."

That got them all to whip their heads to look at her. Kunzite asked, "what?"

She smiled broadly and said, "doesn't the full moon affect everyone? That's what nurses and police say." She then gave them a perfectly innocent look. It was faked, but she knew they wouldn't catch that.

Zoisite nodded slowly, "I've heard of that…"

She could tell he was now wary of her. Good.

She then added, "you're forgiven."

"Thanks?" Jadeite asked, confused.

Nephrite leaned forward and peered at her. "Something's so off about you."

"Again, Captain Obvious!" Jadeite snarked.

What was strange finally struck Zoisite. "She can see in the dark!" They were so used to being able to converse in the pitch black it didn't strike them as an odd thing to do. Her being there had confused them enough where they didn't look too closely at the obvious.

She smiled and shrugged, "so can you. What's weird about that? Unless you're saying there is something unique about the four of you."

Kunzite placed both of his palms flat on the table, leaned on his arms, and glared at her. "You know about all my kills, yes. And I bet the house you know we're werewolves."

She sighed contentedly. "Good, now you're following along. It's funny how you didn't realize I purposely burned Jadeite with silver when he grabbed me."

"Are you a tiny werewolf hunter?" Nephrite asked.

"Hell no!" She reacted strongly to what he said. "Now, have I killed some, yes. But I've killed witches and vampires too."

"Are you some sort of wannabe Van Helsing?" Jadeite asked acerbically.

"No." She then gracefully stood and her face transformed. Her eyes turned pitch black and the skin around her eyes showed deep red veins. It was her fangs that really showed what she was though.

"Vampire," Zoisite whispered.

Her face transformed back to human-looking and she nodded. "Yes. I'm ridiculously strong too. Mamoru is off-limits. Understand?"

"How old are you?" Zoisite asked.

Usagi smiled at him. She knew he would understand what she was saying when she replied, "four hundred seventy-two years old."

He closed his eyes at her response to his question and dropped his head. "Serenity?"

She smiled, he more than got it. "Yes, before that I was Astrid. But yes, I used the name Serenity for quite some time."

"Why did you decide to leave us alive?" He asked.

"Wait, what?" Jadeite asked.

Zoisite explained, "Serenity, tell me you've heard about her."

"Anyone can claim to be a myth," Nephrite replied. "Obviously she's heard of her."

Usagi shrugged, "It's easy enough to prove." She then pulled a heart-shaped gold brooch from her pocket and held it up. It was decorated with precious stones. "Any objections now?"

Zoisite took a step back, "No. I get that you're telling the truth."

"What's with the jewelry?" Nephrite asked.

"It's not just jewelry," Zoisite replied. "It was spelled by a powerful witch in Hungary. It's a known weapon of Serenity's."

"It's a weapon?" Kunzite asked skeptically.

"She can command it to unleash the power and it can kill with one word."

Usagi smiled, "good, so you know how important my offer is. Leave Mamoru alone, and I won't burn you all to ash."

"And you would take our word on that?" Kunzite reasserted, pressing her out of disbelief.

She rolled her eyes at how little he understood about her and the world in her mind, "my kill count makes yours look like child's play. We have similar reasons for killing though. We both kill monsters. The difference between us is the fact that I don't take orders from someone else. You're Diamond's bitch." She then teased, "oh sorry, you're not a female wolf but a male. Apparently a castrated male, but oh well."

He scowled and looked at her seemingly innocent smile. "I haven't promised anything, yet. Behave!"

She smiled and shook her head. "No, you're not my alpha. I don't obey you. I'll leave you to ponder this one tonight. Zoisite seems to understand what you're up against with me." She then dropped a slip of paper on the coffee table. "My phone number. Text me with your decision. Each of you."

"Then you would have our numbers," Zoisite replied.

"So? I just gave you all mine." The truth was she planned to ask Luna to help her track their cell phones. She had every intention of using anything she had to ensure she could mitigate the damage they could cause.

It surprised her when Jedite stood abruptly and rubbed his hands over his face vigorously. He then sighed. It was obvious to Usagi he was fighting himself on something. "Fine! You have my word Mamoru is off limits IF Rei, who's-"

"Deal," Usagi added, cutting him off. It made her smile. He was already emotionally in much deeper than she had predicted.

Jedite looked at her in shock, "you don't even know who I'm talking about."

"Of course I do. Rei, she's a Priestess at the shrine you're currently living at, Jadeite." She then smiled largely, "what you don't know is that she's actually a powerful witch, and most importantly, my friend."

"She's a witch?" Jedite asked in shock. "What is her…the Great Fire. That's her power!?"

"Yes, but it's expanding. Like I said, she's powerful."

And most importantly to Usagi, and the reason she was there, Rei had seen the futures of the four werewolves. She wanted them to know what she was and that Mamoru was out of bounds. The future that Rei had seen wasn't secured unless Mamoru was safe. She fully knew she wouldn't be the light Rei saw without Mamoru in her life, her very being called out for him.

Earlier that day…..

Usagi stood high in a tree, staring down across the lawn of the Shrine. She watched Rei the Priestess go about her duties and then eventually head to consult the Great Fire. She didn't move. She wanted to test her abilities and observe. She knew what was coming, how evil Diamond was, and the lengths that a man like him would go to. She had to be sure Rei was powerful before she approached her. Otherwise, bringing her into what was happening would get her killed —quickly.

A text came in, and she looked at her phone; it was from Luna. She smiled down at the message. Luna was interested in bringing Rei into everything and helping her to learn her true power and was checking up on how it was going.

Luna just didn't know the real danger. That said, Usagi had every intention of keeping Luna and Artemis on the sidelines in a support role but never bringing them into the fight. They were both strong and gifted individuals, but they weren't supernatural, which was a requirement for the coming battle.

She texted Luna back that she had found her and that she would observe. Once she did, she'd handle it appropriately.

What that meant was that she'd give Rei some kind tips on how to direct her visions, Usagi wasn't a witch, but she learned a lot over her centuries of life, or she'd bring her in teaching her about her true power, and ask her for help.

She worried for the pretty girl that she was about to talk to. She knew that if she were as powerful as Luna believed, Rei's life would change drastically. The worst part was it would have to. The visions she would see would ensure she got involved against Diamond even if she didn't have Usagi for help and guidance. Her best shot then would be to join together.

The dark magic that Diamond used to extend his life was an affront to magic and magic itself would fight against what he was doing. If Rei had the power she assumed, that would mean that magic itself would reach out to her to help stop the abomination that Diamond was.

She closed her eyes and felt the breeze across her face as she hid up in the trees. Her hope for the girl right now was that she didn't see too much in The Great Fire and could live a normal life.

From the moment Rei stepped into the building housing The Great Fire, she knew nothing would be the same again. She felt the difference from the profound energy within the room. For the first time, she knew the visions from the fire were more than a part of her Priestess abilities. She felt the coming vision radiate down to her very bones.

The fire had flared up when she entered, yet there wasn't a single sound from the flames. It was almost as if she had gone deaf. She couldn't even hear her footsteps. She stood before the fire with her hands folded in front of her and looked deep into the flames.

"Daughter," she heard whispered, but it sounded like it came from all around her. She trembled. "Don't fear. You are not alone." The disembodied voice calling her daughter, telling her she wasn't alone, terrified her. "Go away! My father is-"

There was a deep chuckle that cut her off. "A narcissist, true, but you are my daughter in legacy."

"Who are you?"

"Mars," the voice said simply.

"You're a planet?" she asked in confusion.

She heard laughing and then heard, "In a way."

"That doesn't make sense."

"And yet it is what it is. Watch the fire and learn." She sighed and knit her eyebrows. The way he spoke gave her the sense the fire would create more questions than answers.

She watched a full moon appear. The one she had learned to associate with Jadeite, and sure enough, he appeared next in the flames. She did sigh over him, she worked to stay away from him, but he was just so handsome. She felt that was a shame.

Next, the full moon reappeared and was unnaturally blood red. It almost looked like it was bleeding. To her shock, a Crescent moon surged forward from behind the blood moon and dissipated the full moon, making it disappear. The crescent moon then seemed to sparkle and glitter, increasing in size, and in the open space tucked in the crescent appeared a perfect, white moon. The blood was gone. Then she watched as smaller representations of the planets appeared flanking the moons, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Earth, and Jupiter.

That scene stayed frozen and etched itself into her memory. While it was all incredibly confusing to her, Mars being there chilled her to her core. Whatever was happening, she was part of it, and she didn't know if avoiding Jadeite was even an option anymore.

"Child," the voice whispered again. "Follow your path."

"And if I don't?" she challenged the voice.

"You will. You know you were meant for more. Trust her."

"Who? Who should I trust?!"

"The crescent moon."

She huffed out, "Not helpful! You want me to trust a rock floating in outer space?!"

She heard chuckling again. "You know they are all symbols for people. The full moon even symbolizes many."

"I thought the full moon was Jadeite."

"Him too."

She frowned and a tear leaked down her cheek. "I've seen the storm coming in The Great Fire. Danger and war are on their way."

"Lucky for them, I sent a daughter of war then, isn't it?"

She felt his presence leave the room suddenly, and she could instantly hear the crack and the roar of the fire then. And the heat overwhelmed her, making her realize that, too, had been missing.

She backed out of the place that housed The Great Fire trembling. So much of the message was unclear to her, but the voice told her that she would fight. As she looked at the building, she realized he was right. She stopped shaking and steeled her nerves.

Decision made, she turned around and came face to face with a beautiful girl with an unusual hairstyle. Pinned to her shirt was a broach with a crescent moon.

Rei bowed to her and, when she straightened up, said, "come, we can talk in my room."

Usagi knew the full truth then, Rei would be with her in the coming fight. That was the only answer to her reaction. She was incredibly powerful and magic had already brought her into the coming battle.

When they made it to Rei's room, they both sat down, and Usagi started, "you know me."

"I saw the crescent moon in my vision; you wear one."

"It could be a coincidence." She said gently.

"I don't believe in those, and it's not, is it?" Rei spoke with the deep conviction she felt. She knew this girl was important.

"You're right. It's not. Your whole life has changed."

"Mars told me that I'm his daughter and that I will fight. I already know that."

"Mars spoke to you? Wow."

"Yes, I've never heard of a Priestess being able to do that before, but surely…." The look on Usagi's face made her trail off.

"First, Rei, I am Usagi, and I'm not what I seem. I am the crescent moon, but I'm not human. You may be a Priestess by vocation, but from what I have heard, you are an extremely powerful witch."

Rei frowned at the floor, "They used to call me one in private at school. It was not said as a compliment."

"I mean it as the highest honor."

"I believe you."

"Why?"

"My vision says i'll be at your side with the others and that you will cleanse the bloody full moon. At least, I think that's what it means. Beyond that, I have nothing."

It wasn't the idea of others that shocked her. What made her grab Rei's arm and look at her, stunned, was the idea that she would be cleansing the Blood Moon. She knew a prophecy like that, but she didn't know if that was what Rei meant.

"The Blood Moon?"

Rei sighed and looked forlorn. "There is so much I don't know about it all, and this is the first time I saw the moon full of blood."

"What was it before?" All of her replies confused her more and more.

"Jadeite. But now Mars says it symbolizes many. I don't know what to think. Please tell me that it makes sense to you." Rei looked at Usagi hopefully.

Usagi knit her brows, "why do you think it symbolizes him?"

"Wait. Do you know him?"

"We met over a game of poker. He's a hothead. He grabbed my arm."

She frowned. "He's trouble. I know that, but…"

"You're attracted to him," Usagi replied with confidence.

Rei nodded and sighed in frustration. "He works here. I'm not stupid, I'm really not. I know what that means. I won't get involved with a man that only brings trouble to those around me."

"What about you?"

"He won't harm me. My visions show that," she said with absolute confidence.

Usagi looked at her long and hard. "What did you see exactly today?"

Rei jumped off the bed and pulled out a notebook, and drew the crescent moon encapsulating a full moon with four small planets, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter, flanking the crescent moon. Mercury and Venus were on the left, and Mars and Jupiter were on the right in orbit order. The Earth, however, was equally small but was above the crescent moon as if in orbit.

Usagi held the drawing, staring at what it meant. Sure enough, the prophecy was about her. But more than that, Rei was part of it too.

"You said it was a Blood Moon in this?"

"No. Not at this point. When the moon was on its own, yes, it was, but then… Well, I guess you came as the crescent moon. And then it became white as snow."

"That happened when the planets were beside me?"

"I don't think so. It was a lot to take in. None of it made sense, and it just looked like a random picture to me."

She smiled at Rei, "do you think Jadeite is hot?"

That made Rei smile. "So damn hot!"

"Well, you're going to help me save him. Then we stop a very nasty individual. But the problem is you have to side with a vampire."

"Jadeite's a vampire?!" she yelled in horror.

"No, I am."
