Blueeyeddevil06, thank you for being my beta. Without you, I wouldn't have written a second story. Look where I am now.

Encouraging reviews matters. She wasn't my beta then, just someone who made me feel like my stories were interesting. Every review is important!

"I can't believe we're calling that little slip of a girl to help against Diamond," Nephrite said, grumbling. It hurt his pride to ask for help. He believed the four of them could do anything they put their minds to. After all, their whole lives, they had relied on each other and lived and fought side by side.

Zoisite scoffed and then rolled his eyes. "She's not some slip of a girl. She could kill the four of us without thought. She has killed like that before."

Jadeite asked, "wait, what?! Tell me she isn't a werewolf hunter or something. If she is, I'm not working with her. We can defeat Diamond ourselves."

"You all remember that werewolf cult in Scandinavia eighty plus years ago?" Zoisite asked.

Kunzite's eyes narrowed, and he said, "the one that got a taste for human babies?"

Zoisite said, "yes, that one. She took out the whole group, all twenty-five of them. Word is she would come in through the shadows like a ghost and strike without a sound, leaving behind the bodies. It took her thirty-six hours to destroy them."

Jadeite raised a skeptical eyebrow. "If no one saw her, how did they know? It sounds like a ghost story–one to keep the werewolves in line."

"That's the best part! On the last day, she took out the last eight. They were the most powerful, and she did it all at once. She has this broach that has magic power in it, and she unleashed it, incinerating them. There were eight piles of ash when she was done."

"Still sounds like a ghost story. How do they know it was her?" Jadeite challenged.

Zoisite said, "Because humans suck. She didn't hide what she was doing from the villagers. She figured they would appreciate not having their babies slaughtered. They turned on her and tried to kill her. Of course, they didn't stand a chance."

Kunzite looked deep in thought when he said, "they aren't the first out-of-control group to disappear. You're thinking she was responsible for those too. That's a lot of werewolves."

It was Jadeite who admitted, "they needed to be taken out. Every one of those instances started a werewolf hunt that ended with people killing even the peaceful ones. It's why there are so few of us now. Most of the werewolf lines have been cut off."

"So we work with her?" Nephrite asked.

Kunzite said, "Tactically, it's brilliant. It wouldn't hurt to be on the same side as someone who could easily destroy us."

"Do we need to vote on the decision?" Zoisite asked.

Jadeite shook his head, "I'm in. Her friend is my mate."

It was quickly decided that Kunzite would call her and ask to set up a meeting.

Makoto sat in a corner booth at the arcade and tapped her foot nervously. She couldn't believe she was actually meeting Usagi.

Luna finding her had been the first good thing to happen to her. She was orphaned at four from what she vaguely remembered as loving parents. Her mother died of cancer, and her father died of a broken heart. Even with the cancer diagnosis, neither of them thought to write a will. Her father couldn't stomach the idea of losing the woman he adored. There was a small funeral for him and no one to take her in. He was buried next to his wife, and Makoto went into the orphanage.

Then one day, she was feeling depressed and reckless. She went out late at night to clear her head, and she met the man who changed her world.

He compelled her obedience and submission to him. Her will was forced, not her body. When he made her his, she went to him entranced.

Then he turned her into a vampire, and all his compulsions broke. She was entirely herself and in control of her body and her mind.

She didn't know drinking another vampire's blood brought you their powers. It all happened by accident. She was furious when she latched onto his neck and drained him unconscious. Then she ripped out his heart and dropped it on his stomach. She was angry that he had made her his living doll.

It wasn't until Luna told her that Usagi wanted to meet her that she also learned about drinking vampire blood. It frustrated her that there was so much she didn't know about her own powers.

That was what got her to the meeting with Usagi. Both times she thought of turning around, she thought about losing out on the chance to know more about what she could do. Who would know better than Usagi?

She tried to stop fidgeting as she watched a beautiful blond with an unusual hairstyle come in. She looked like she brought joy wherever she went. Makoto mused that she looked like a princess floating in and smiling. She watched as she waved to the cute worker behind the counter.

Then her gaze shifted to Makoto, and she felt instantly seen and accepted. The beaming smile she received overwhelmed her.

Usagi ran over, sat across from her, and grabbed her hands. "We have so much to talk about. You're beautiful, by the way! I'm so excited to meet a new friend!" Makoto teared up instantly and started crying. She was just too happy to keep it all in.

Usagi looked at her, panicked, "did I upset you?!"

"No!" she choked out. "I was scared you wouldn't like me."

Usagi snorted and looked at her like she was crazy. "Why wouldn't I like you?"

"Most people don't. I don't have many friends."

"So? Luna is your friend. It's the quality that counts. I've lived a long time. I get along with many people, but I have a few close friends. Luna is worth scores of casual friends."

"I'm an orphan!" Makoto squeaked out. "No one wanted me."

"My father sold me and my body to a vampire for gold," Usagi countered. "That doesn't change my worth. Being an orphan doesn't change yours."

"But no one adopted me. Why didn't they want me?" she asked, spilling her heart to Usagi. She just felt it would be safe.

Usagi took her hand and squeezed it in comfort. "I'm sorry you were hurt. That's the past. It matters, but it doesn't control your future. Let's admit for now that it sucks, but we will look forward to the future.

"Now I have a lot of danger in my future. From what I hear from Luna-"

"I'm all in," Makoto said, cutting her off.

Usagi chuckled, "that is what I heard from Luna."

Makoto talked to Usagi for hours and had a wonderful time.

Motoki kept an eye on the girls. He knew Usagi could handle herself, but he felt protective of her. He knew it was odd that he looked at her like a little sister based on what she was and that she was with his best friend. He kept the girls well supplied with milkshakes.

His attention was drawn by Usagi looking up and smiling well into her conversation with Makoto. Her attention was fixed firmly at the front of the arcade. Thirty seconds later, Mamoru walked through the door.

He watched his friend's face split into a huge smile, and he deleted the cost of Usagi and Makoto's milkshakes from the computer screen in front of him. His worry over his lonely friend had dissipated when he met her.

Mamoru sat down and said, "I assume it's going well. Luna said she was nervous but who could feel that way once they met Usagi?"

"No one."

"Except you," he teased.

"Truuuue, but I got over it once I really talked to her."

Mamoru didn't even realize he was smiling when he overheard the girls laughing together. Motoki said, "I'm so glad you two are together. You're happy."

"I didn't know I could be this happy. Seriously, I have a best friend and the love of my life." He didn't add that in the orphanage, at night, he would silently cry, not believing he could have anyone care for him.

Later, after Makoto left, smiling, Usagi ran over to Mamoru, took his hand in hers, and sat next to him on a stool.

Motoki didn't think it was a trick of the lighting that his friend looked like he was sitting up taller. He was obviously proud to be with Usagi.
